Flying up to Ohio to see my dad's family/for a family friend's wedding. Only will spend about 24 hours with the family before we drive down for the wedding. I'm a bridesmaid in the wedding, so should be an interesting weekend, being practically 6 months pregnant and all...poor DH is going to be down a dance partner for most of the night haha.
The kids and I are driving down to Austin to spend time with my family for about a week. DH is staying here because he works in restaurant management and he can’t leave during the holiday. My aunt is flying in from New Mexico and I haven’t seen her since my brother’s USMC boot camp graduation back in September so I’m super excited.
I normally take this week to visit my family amd friends in Oklahoma. We usually do a big family breakfast for the 4th outside on the patio and then spend the day on the lake or hanging out inside working puzzles.
We're traveling to see family in Delaware and NYC this week. Wednesday we're just going to cookout and do fireworks at our house. Our town does their annual fireworks on July 5th, hopefully we'll be able to make it.
Our friend has an annual backyard BBQ and then we go watch the fireworks the city puts on, usually a really good show. Every once in a while we go back to OK to party with family and shoot off our own, but we're going there in 2 weeks for baby shower so we'll be there soon anyway. Plus my husband has more fun with our friends than my family, and the 4th is his favorite holiday, so I don't want to make him go to OK every year for it. (We just went last year and it was pretty lame. Will be more fun once all the kids are older though.)
We usually do the family cookout thing but I'm thinking this year will be just relaxing at home since we've been so busy. We'll probably end up taking care of some stuff to prep for the baby too.
DH has work so we might go down to his friends beach house Saturday and hangout for the day with them and come home Sunday, we might possibly visit the inkaws but itll depend on how the week goes I think
I'm so excited and grateful my recovery is going so well that we are still going to our friends Cottage for Canada day long weekend! Yummy food like poutine, buttertarts, pancakes and maple syrup are in my future! I won't be able to swim and it's supposed to be 40 degree Celsius (104 F) but I'll just sit in my swim suit in a chair with my feet in the water!

Probably going to BBQ and have a baby pool day for the toddler - so a normal weekend-like day. DS likes fireworks, but I don’t see keeping an 18-month old up until 9 as a great idea. My parents’ town allows fireworks in the neighborhoods, but with my mom in the hospital off and on, I’m not sure they’ll be around to do that.
My mom is doing an early dinner so we’ll probably chill at her pool during the day. Undecided if we’re going to try and keep DS up for fireworks. I love fireworks and hated missing them last year. But I have no idea if he’ll be able to stay up that late, if he’ll crash wherever we are or being an overtired terror.
We are going to be in Kauai on our babymoon, leaving tomorrow! My husbands birthday is the 3rd, so will celebrate there with a nice dinner. Flying back on a red eye on the 4th, flights were cheaper:)
I don't know if we will do any firework my son have loud noise sensory issues. He gets super scared by them. Hope we can do something but if not its ok.
I always take the week off of work. For the last 6 years (since I've been out of undergrad) I go up to my friend's family's property in the Upper Peninsula of MI. We will stay at my friend's place for 2 nights (in a tent) and enjoy hanging out with their family. One of the cities nearby has a parade and fireworks. Then we are headed up to where I went to school near Lake Superior. We will go to Pictured Rocks on our way and take the boat trip to see the rocks. They are gorgeous and SS has never been. We will stay in a hotel for 2 days there and explore the "Keeweenaw Peninsula" which is gorgeous. Then we will camp for two nights at the Mackinac Bridge .
I'm super excited to take SS to some of my favorite places, but I'm nervous about camping. We have an air mattress, but I'm struggling with what blankets and pillows to take to be comfortable.
@momoflogan20 DS has sensory processing disorder and the noise scares him too, but he loves the colors. Last year for July 4th and on New Years Eve we put headphones on him and let him listen to some of his nursery rhyme songs while he watched. It might work for your son.
We have 3 kids birthday parties over this weekend and next. Lord have mercy! And then my MILs birthday is the 5th, so I'm sure we'll do something for her too
We live near one of the local parks that do fireworks display so we'll probably watch that. No other plans really. It's not really a big thing in our family since my husband didn't grow up here.
DH and I both have Mon-Wednesday off of work, which is awesome. It's going to be hot and sunny most of the weekend through the 4th, so right now it's either lots of time at the beach (we live close) or in our little backyard with the kiddie pool (I'm ok with that too). Our town does a great firework display, so we will go to my parent's house for a BBQ and then walk over to see the fireworks.
We will be celebrating on long flights and in Frankfurt’s airport during our layover to Malta for our babymoon!!
You guys, I just have to get through a 12 hour day tomorrow at work and then I leave Friday morning for a bestie’s wedding in NJ! MOH duties call Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. I’m so excited (minus feeling huge at 6 months pregnant in my bridesmaid dress haha).
Then I have a 10 hour work day on a Monday and we fly out for Malta and the Amalfi Coast of Italy on Tuesday!! I can’t wait!!
Canada Day is Sunday, but aim working nights Fri - Wed over this weekend. So I guess I’m just earning stat pay? I think I’ve worked nights on July 1 every year for the past 4. Next year I’ll still be on mat leave so maybe we’ll do it up with all the kids.
@jennybean80 I just got really jealous thinking that you'll still be on leave this time next year. Unless I go early, I go back Christmas Eve (so I can get paid for the Christmas-New Year holidays).
Drugging our dog and driving around so she doesn't have to freak out over fireworks. Our neighbors are Jerks and shoot them off ALL year (not legal and cops haven't caught them) so we never know when it is going to happen. At least the 4th we know for sure they will be happening.
Ugh I forgot about that. My dog freaks over fireworks. And some asshole people in our neighborhood randomly shoot them off all year long. Sometimes at midnight. It's so annoying. There are signs all over the place about not doing it, but the cops still haven't done anything. I swear if it wakes my sleeping baby in the future.....
Definitely feel for those with neighbors shooting fireworks year round. Someone in my town has a cannon and they shoot that off frequently too.. fireworks are legal in NH as well so next week will be a loud one all over the state.
@tlmill thank you I will see he loves colors and light so I will see if we can get the noise cancelling headphones so he can watch. I have a hard time keeping his glasses on him so I will see about headphones.

Wishing I could spend the day on the boat with DH and DD - pictures will have to suffice.
