@abbykwail Thanks for giving a run down of your first appointments and tours, that’s really helpful for those of us who haven’t done it yet. It does sound like the OB you’ll see in two weeks will be a good fit so I hope that pans out well. I’ve got my first appointment on Monday and so far I’ve been unimpressed with their services. They just seem very disorganized. I had to call 4/5 times just to make an appointment (that was two weeks ago), and just yesterday they called me to set up my first appointment lol. I had to remind her that I already had one.
@JLaVO888 Did you go on hospital tours for your first? How did you decide where you’d give birth and with which OB/midwive?
First time mommy here to hopefully a rainbow baby. I'm 26 and my wife is 28. We have our first appt scheduled for 8/6 but are planning on moving right around then. Eek. Anyway, so might have to schedule in a new town here shortly. Also, I'm high risk for heart related things. All the doctors gave the "go-ahead" to start trying though, and the first cycle worked!
@navete I live in a somewhat small town so really there is just our one hospital. I could have gone to one in Colorado but that would have been a 45 minutes drive which I did not want to do when our hospital is literally 5 min from our house. To find my OB I just asked around and so did DH at work and stuff. We had just moved to town so it was easy to just tell people that I was needing to find a Dr for lady reasons (not particularly baby reasons). The one we went with was suggested by a ton of people and I love her!
First time mom here. My EDD is 3/8. I am 43 and pregnant through IVF, so they are watching my pregnancy closely. I have my first ultrasound on 7/18. I have been super tired and have sore boobs, and I worry with every little twinges I feel. @redhead43 Good luck to you! I know how you feel!
@navete I'm glad you appreciate the info!! When I was posting I was wondering if it was oversharing!! Super hopeful about the obgyn!!
@Kenneylynn3 fingers crossed for you that things are easy and smooth with your rainbow miracle!! So exciting that it happened for you on the first try!!
In other random news my DH said that sometimes I say mean things now which is hard (in reference to joking about the difference between telling or keeping it secret from my 1 sibling and his 4 siblings - - I said sorry but he isn't always good at a verbal 'it's ok' or 'I forgive you' and I told him he has to do that for me). I pointed out that I notice and I say sorry but I can't really help it and to try to imagine all the unpredictable things happening to his body!
This is the second time he has complained that I'm moody and like, what do you want me to do, buddy?? Accept it as a sign that things are healthy as they should be and remember how many hormones are flooding my body! And now I feel grumpy. Ugh. Before I was so happy because I got juice that I had wanted for three days and took an awesome nap. Is it just me or does pregnancy feel like being a toddler again?
Hey Ladies First time mama here (obvoisly; I just like to say it as much as possible!) and my Hubby and I are so blissfully happy! I am 4wks 3days with an EDD of 3/20/19. I have my first ultrasound on 8/2 but I have yet to really research the right midwife for us. I already know I want a water birth in a home like birthing center though. 2/2017 I had a ruptured ovarian cyst that had almost made me bleed out internally and had to have surgery to fix. They did tests but found no reason for this. I always wonder if problems will arise in this pregnancy because of it. I also have MAJOR trouble eating. This is an issue I've dealt with for about a year now. I just dont want to eat most of the times or I forget or I dont feel hungry. I have to drink Ensure to supplement. I stopped though because I wanna make sure it is okay to do so preggers. Other than that, I am a healthy gal. Just waiting to be further along so I won't be as scared I may miscarry AND for when my baby will no longer look like a mutant seahorse
First time mama here! I’m 23 and have only been married for 6 months! Total surprise but so happy! A year before we got married i was told i had PCOS and it was going to be hard for me to get pregnant. Every little “feeling” i have makes me a nervous wreck, I’m terrified of having a early miscarriage! My EDD is 3/15 and my first appointment is 7/24. I just had blood work done and they didn’t tell me my hormone level and didn’t schedule me for a 48 retest, should i be worried that they don’t think I’m “pregnant” enough?
Having your betas tested repeatedly is not necessarily "normal." It happens for a lot of higher risk women or when you've had multiple losses or fertility treatments. From what I've heard, it's much less common if you're low risk, got pregnant the old fashioned way and haven't had 3+ losses. With my daughter, I had my blood work done at my first appointment around 8-10 weeks. If they checked that particular level, I don't know, and they didn't check again. This pregnancy, I'm not even going to be seen until I'm around 18 weeks along.
If anything, I'd personally consider it a good sign that they don't feel it's necessary.
Hi there, first time Mom here. 9 weeks today! EDD is 3/10 ish. We heard the heartbeat on the doppler on Friday so that was exciting!!!! We go for our first U/S on Thursday to confirm due date and to see the little one. I think it’s just one. Super excited and super nauseous and sick. The all day sickness is the worst part right now. I cannot wait for it to be over. Every day has been different. Some of the things that stayed down before aren’t anymore so it’s trial and error. The main thing for me has been trying to stay hydrated as much as I can, even if it all comes up. Some nights, on my midwife’s recommendation, I’ve taken a quarter of Unisom and 25mg of vitamin B6 and that’s helped me a lot. I have noticed that when I take it during the day, and if I don’t eat often, I feel worse. my husband has been the sweetest. He doesn’t understand but he’s been trying so hard.
*Lurking* @abbykwail I believe that most places do not have the filtration equipment to keep the tubs sterile during delivery. At least that is why my otherwise very pro-natural birth hospital did not have tubs, but would allow showers. You'd be more open to infection and they can't ensure the cleanliness of the water when your baby makes their appearance.
