    For S+TMs:
  • I think I have a duo on my registry, too, (different print) @nackie as well as a jujube be classy in black, and a basic black back-pack style.  So we'll see what happens.  I would love a BFF, but I don't feel right registering for that, bc $$$.  :#
  • For S+TMs:

    • Lifestyle/body factors that might influence your choice: I've got a good system now I think, something small for shopping, backpack for lots of walking, and diaper bag for everything else
    • Favorite [diaper bag]: my main bag is a Vera Bradley (stroll around?), I have a skip hop pronto, and whatever backpack I have around
    • Link/picture:

    • Cost (either actual dollar amount, or just $, $$, $$$, etc.): Vera bradley $$, skip hop $30

    • What you like about it:
    • VB- love the inner mesh pockets for organizing, love the outer pockets for water bottles and snacks, I throw my wallet and stuff in the outer zipper pocket, fun colors!!!!
    • Skip hop- this holds some diapers and wipes with a changing pad, I can just throw this in my purse or in a shopping cart for unexpected diaper changes
    • Backpack- comfy and out of the way, if you like this style I don't think you need to get a diaper bag specific pack just get something you like. DH prefers the backpack

    • What you don't like about it, if anything: I like what I have

    • Is there a [diaper bag] you don't have but are considering? Why?: I actually got a jujube be classy to use as a bag for work and it might be a bit small for a diaper bag. If you are thoughtful about what you pack it's a really nice bag

    • Is there a [diaper bag] you've tried that you absolutely hate? Why?: no

    • Additional thoughts on [diaper bags + accessories]?: You will have this bag for a long time and it will take a beating. Get something of decent quality that your will enjoy carrying around
  • I currently have 2 diaper bags - a Fisher Price one I've had since DS was born and a second one I bought for daycare because I didn't want to pack and unpack bags every day. They're both from Babies R Us so no links but they're standard diaper bags and have worked great so far.

I am considering getting a new one though since we'll have 2 kids in diapers and I can easily fill my current diaper bag with just stuff for DS. I want to be able to fit a day's worth of diapers and 2 changes of clothes for each kid. Plus small toys as needed, nursing cover, etc. I've been eyeing the Skip Hop Duo Double Signature so it's nice to hear you like the "single" version @nackie.

    BFP 1/13/18 - EDD 9/20/18 - It's a boy!
    • Lifestyle/body factors that might influence your choice: I liked a long shoulder strap that let me leave the bag on my hip towards my back our of the way.
    • Favorite [diaper bag]: It wasn’t a diaper bag, we used this, in pink camo:
    • Link/picture:https://www.cabelas.com/product/Cabelas-Catch-All-Gear-Bags/753422.uts
    • Cost (either actual dollar amount, or just $, $$, $$$, etc.): $ under $20
    • What you like about it:  the top opening is really wide, so I could get anything out without digging around, the outer pockets were handy for keeping some things separate. It’s nothing fancy but it did the job.
    • What you don't like about it, if anything: no complaints!
    • Is there a [diaper bag] you don't have but are considering? Why?: I’m eyeing this beast... EasyGoProducts Bambino 3 in 1 Travel Bag and Bassinet – Baby Diaper Bag, Changing Station, Sleeping Crib -Tree Pattern https://www.amazon.com/dp/B077H6H1MN/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_srKmBbZX70CES
    • I just like the changing station part, I hate pads because I never know which side was touching the baby and which was touching the floor/surface, so basically after every use I was clorox wiping it and having to let it dry before stuffing it back into the pack. Or hoping whatever for on it doesn’t transfer to stuff in the bag when i put if away...germophobic problems!
    • Is there a [diaper bag] you've tried that you absolutely hate? Why?: nope.
    • Additional thoughts on [diaper bags + accessories]?:
    • We use a backpack w dd still, mostly just for a change of clothes, drink, snack, and germx...

We got a grey Hap Tim backpack for $60. DH picked it out as something he'd be willing to use. I haven't used it yet, but it's got lots of waterproof pockets and comfortable straps. It also came with a changing mat.

    • Favorite [diaper bag]: it’s not a name brand but I really love this one right now.
    • Link/picture: Diaper Bag - Back Pack - Teal https://www.amazon.com/dp/B076P2YZBV/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_z0JmBb76BY5PS
    • Cost (either actual dollar amount, or just $, $$, $$$, etc.): $19
    • What you like about it: lots of pockets, love that it’s a backpack and not just shoulder strap, has bottom opening so you can have the whole thing packed and not have to dig through from the top, wide opening, plenty of space (we cloth diaper and need more room), cute, doubles as a spectra s2 pump bag perfectly.
    • What you don't like about it, if anything: can be kinda hard to open and close the top zippper with one hand while holding.

https://www.thefluffypenguincompany.com/collections/backpack-diaper-bags/products/backpack-diaper-bag-dark-teal This is actually where I got the bag but the one I linked to looks like the same bag and it’s on amazon so it’s just convenient

@mauishay oooh, I love the dark teal colour, and I would be so happy to offer my friends and family an easier pricepoint on the registry for a cute bag, too!  #addedit

  • @BusinessWife the dark teal is the color I have and it’s super pretty in person
  • For FTMs

  • I’m always a rebel and don’t follow the format because mobile sucks!

I have two Skip Hop Duos. I ended up with two because one of the bungee cords on the side pocket broke early in use and Skip Hop immediately sent a promo code for a brand new bag when I emailed them about it. Their customer service is amazing! The original bag was still usable so I had a two bag system: one for us and one for grandparents who watch DS during the day. We still use ours but now DS carries a small backpack to grandparents’ houses. The old original bag will be used for LO#2.

While I love the Duo, I don’t think it will be big enough to be used alone for two kids in diapers. The inside pockets arent the greatest and I’m already stuffing them full as it is with diapers, wipes, and other stuff. The bag is deep but narrow, so it’s easy to lose stuff on it as well.

I’m considering one of the bigger Ju Ju Bes or Lassig brand backpack style to get a bigger bag, but both are pretty spendy. And TBH, (don’t flame me!), I think the JJB’s are pretty much all ugly. They just aren’t my style.

I really liked this bag I saw at BBB by Lassig, but DH wasn’t thrilled about the gold hardware (insert eye roll here):

Skip Hop also makes a “Wide Open” backpack style bag that looks good as well. I’m not sure which I’ll do but I’ll take any suggestions that anyone has about larger bags!
  • For FTMs:

    I've purchased two so far:

  • samd6samd6 member
@Wishilivedinflorida the gold hardware comment sounds so much like my husband *eyeroll*

We got one bag already & will use a Fjall Raven backpack as a secondary/when a tote won't cut it.

    • Cost (either actual dollar amount, or just $, $$, $$$, etc.): $
    • Any questions about it/them for S+TMs?: I notice nobody really uses tote style bags, is this for any specific reason? I'm a huge tote fan and carry a lot of things, all of the time, in totes.
https://www.fjallraven.us/products/kanken-backpack?variant=1283740188 <-- that's the backpack we will use. In purple. I got it as a promo and did not pay for it. I carried it for the first time the other day when we ventured out to the Arboretum for a day out. It fits well and needs to be broken in a bit but it has a lot of room on the inside. We will use this when we do zoo trips or hiking, things that require a fair amount of movement.

I feel like the diaper bag kind of evolves over time? what you need might change.

  • @samd6 I prefer the backpack to not worry about bending over, picking up baby and having bag slip off my shoulder and falling off. Backpack is just easier to be hands free for me. Also my H doesn't mind using it too.
  • For S+TMs:

    • Lifestyle/body factors that might influence your choice: The obvious, like whether you're carrying stuff for one kid or more; whether you plan to babywear and how - it's super easy to toss on a backpack if you're wearing LO on your front, it's trickier if they're on your back
    • Favorite [diaper bag]: We ended up with THREE last time, none of which I chose. And I couldn't return any of them. I did buy a Fjallraven Kanken later on and we still use that; it's my favorite of what we have.
    • Link/picture:

    • Cost (either actual dollar amount, or just $, $$, $$$, etc.): $80
    • What you like about it: The entire front zips open, and along with the shape makes it really easy to pack up and it fits a lot of stuff. It's really durable, too. And I like having a backpack.
    • What you don't like about it, if anything: It doesn't wash super well (you're only supposed to spot clean), so ours looks well-loved at this point. It can also get a little diggy because the straps are just webbing, not padded at all (I added strap pads to ours). I also really want something with a shoulder/crossbody strap also.
    • Is there a [diaper bag] you don't have but are considering? Why?: Yes but I haven't narrowed it down!
    • Is there a [diaper bag] you've tried that you absolutely hate? Why?: We have one that's fine but the shoulder strap is really slippery and it falls off my shoulder every time I bend over at all. We also have a tote style one that's just big and bulky and not easy to carry.
    • Additional thoughts on [diaper bags + accessories]?:
Last time, because we were gifted so many bags, I basically used one as my pumping bag for work (it wasn't actually even a diaper bag), one for our regular diaper bag, and the other to send with DD1 when the grandparents watched her. This time I want to get one that I actually have picked out and like, which we will use as our regular bag. I'll have stuff that moves in and out of it - bottles when she's away from me, baby carrier when she's with me, changes of clothes for DD1 and me when we're all together, DD1's stuff when needed, and anything else I think of later on. I'll probably keep the extra clothes for me and DD1 in an extra bag in the car and toss it in the diaper bag if we're going somewhere it would be a pain to run back to the car for something. I can keep extra diapers and a carrier in there, too.

@Wishilivedinflorida I really like that Lassig! That might be going on my short list...

  • That looks nice @BusinessWife!

This is what I ended up registering for:

    https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07DYJZR6Z

It can be carried with hideaway backpack straps, a long messenger/crossbody strap, or the regular handles. That was my biggest "requirement" because that makes it functional for babywearing at various stages. It comes with stroller straps, too, although last time I just used a carabiner to hook the straps together to carry a bag on the handle (because nothing fit under our stroller). It seems like a decent size, maybe a little bigger than my ideal but I think I'm being overly optimistic about carrying a minimal amount of stuff around! ;) And the price was good, so hopefully it holds up and wears decently.

  • I bought the Skip Hop Duo Double Signature yesterday. Skip Hop had decent discounts on their own site yesterday so it was marked down from $85 to $60 plus free shipping. I've never seen it in person so hopefully I like it when it shows up, but I wanted something bigger for 2 kids in diapers and it seems like this should work for that.

Loved the Skip Hop Chelsea Bag in Black as my first diaper bag with our son.

Upgraded to the Lassig Neckline Bag also in Black.

And now I use a cheap wish.com China backpack diaper bag. I need to be handsfree when out and about with our 4.5 year old who is Autistic and likes to wander into danger and who isn’t toilet trained yet.
They are so spacious and pretty cute. I have a peach/coral one and plain grey.

Must haves *** stroller straps/hooks and insulated pockets as well as being stylish and spacious.
  • Ignoring the format because we have just a black canvas messenger bag for a diaper bag. Each child was gifted their own tote from Pottery Barn Kids with their name and we typically grab that when going out. I’m a rebel and don’t bring a diaper bag on walks in the neighborhood. Just a couple of diapers for each kid and a pack of wipes tossed in the stroller. I’m thinking a backpack might make it out more and I will hopefully need my hands with 3u3.
  • @BostonBaby1 I don’t bring diaper bag on walks either!
@BusinessWife I’m loving the one you registered for!! I put it on my amazon list. After one child, I find I’m liking designated pockets. And though initially for number one I liked tote/shoulder, with two I think I need my hands free.
    • Lifestyle/body factors that might influence your choice: backpack!!
    • Favorite [diaper bag]: fawn design
    • Link/picture:
    • Cost (either actual dollar amount, or just $, $$, $$$, etc.): I think it’s like $150? I forget
    • What you like about it: stylish and (fake) leather so easy to clean
    • What you don't like about it, if anything: can get a little heavy and hard to keep water bottles in the outside pockets but the new design has bigger pockets.
    • Is there a [diaper bag] you don't have but are considering? Why?:
    • Is there a [diaper bag] you've tried that you absolutely hate? Why?: messenger style, they always fall off.
    • Additional thoughts on [diaper bags + accessories]?:
    • Lifestyle/body factors that might influence your choice: STM and I definitely care about the bag NOT looking so much like a diaper bag this time around. Lately I've found myself deciding between 1) "Do I just throw a diaper and pack of wipes into my cute purse?" or 2) "Carry my "meh" diaper bag and bring ALL the things" - I figured it would be nice to have a bag big enough to carry everything but still something I'd be happy to wear out with OR without babies in tow. I also definitely wanted a backpack-style bag.

    • Favorite [diaper bag]: I just got the Freshly Picked bag in butterscotch and I am in LOVE with it!
    • Link/picture: https://freshlypicked.com/collections/the-diaper-bag-by-freshly-picked/products/butterscotch-diaper-bag-1

    • Cost (either actual dollar amount, or just $, $$, $$$, etc.): I got it for $110 by joining The Fringe, which you can cancel after that month if you're not obsessed with buying baby moccasins like I now am...
    • What you like about it: It's very cute, I'd totally wear it out for funning errands or meeting up with friends even if I don't have my kid(s) with me. I love that it's a backpack but I can also use it like a shoulder bag if I want. I think it has plenty of room for everything I need, and the side pockets are the perfect size for a sippy cup or bottle.
    • What you don't like about it, if anything: Nothing so far
