I just realized I don't think we did one of these. With just a few short months before our LOs arrive, what are your thoughts on diaper bags?

I am considering getting a new one though since we'll have 2 kids in diapers and I can easily fill my current diaper bag with just stuff for DS. I want to be able to fit a day's worth of diapers and 2 changes of clothes for each kid. Plus small toys as needed, nursing cover, etc. I've been eyeing the Skip Hop Duo Double Signature so it's nice to hear you like the "single" version @nackie.

At this point I love the little diaper changing packets that you can just stick in your big purse/bag, along with a couple snacks, so you can take whatever bag you want. But I'd love a bag I love enough to take everywhere!
One tip: If you get a unisex bag it's great that either my husband or I can just grab the bag on the way out the door, and you don't have to keep 2 separate bags stocked.
Before the sale, I was really interested in the BFF in this print and brand. After much talking with DH about it, the Be Classy seemed to right fit for us. I will be a SAHM with occasional trips (maybe 1-2 times a week) to the store or appointments, so we didn't need the bigger bag.

So I'd recommend thinking about what a typical week will be like for you. If you think there would be lots of packing and unpacking I'd recommend more than one bag. If you think one set-up will work most days then you will probably be fine with one. You could always wait and see how it goes and pick up another down the road if you decide more than one would be helpful. DS was 15 months when he started daycare and I bought a second bag. Wouldn't have needed it before then.

I have two Skip Hop Duos. I ended up with two because one of the bungee cords on the side pocket broke early in use and Skip Hop immediately sent a promo code for a brand new bag when I emailed them about it. Their customer service is amazing! The original bag was still usable so I had a two bag system: one for us and one for grandparents who watch DS during the day. We still use ours but now DS carries a small backpack to grandparents’ houses. The old original bag will be used for LO#2.
While I love the Duo, I don’t think it will be big enough to be used alone for two kids in diapers. The inside pockets arent the greatest and I’m already stuffing them full as it is with diapers, wipes, and other stuff. The bag is deep but narrow, so it’s easy to lose stuff on it as well.
I’m considering one of the bigger Ju Ju Bes or Lassig brand backpack style to get a bigger bag, but both are pretty spendy. And TBH, (don’t flame me!), I think the JJB’s are pretty much all ugly. They just aren’t my style.
I really liked this bag I saw at BBB by Lassig, but DH wasn’t thrilled about the gold hardware (insert eye roll here):
Skip Hop also makes a “Wide Open” backpack style bag that looks good as well. I’m not sure which I’ll do but I’ll take any suggestions that anyone has about larger bags!
For FTMs:
I've purchased two so far:
We got one bag already & will use a Fjall Raven backpack as a secondary/when a tote won't cut it.

- Any questions about it/them for S+TMs?: I notice nobody really uses tote style bags, is this for any specific reason? I'm a huge tote fan and carry a lot of things, all of the time, in totes.
https://www.fjallraven.us/products/kanken-backpack?variant=1283740188 <-- that's the backpack we will use. In purple. I got it as a promo and did not pay for it. I carried it for the first time the other day when we ventured out to the Arboretum for a day out. It fits well and needs to be broken in a bit but it has a lot of room on the inside. We will use this when we do zoo trips or hiking, things that require a fair amount of movement.I feel like the diaper bag kind of evolves over time? what you need might change.
Easy to carry, fits lots.
I have 3.

1. Beautiful. Cleans easily. Stroller clips. Long shoulder strap.
2. Huge. Looks nice. Lots of pockets. Can fit a large water bottle in the side pockets.
3. Insulated front zipper pocket. Wire around the top so it sits open. Fits a lot. It's a backpack!
1. Not big enough.
2. Kinda too big for one kid, but I am excited to use it again for two kids. No shoulder strap. No insulated pockets that zip.
3. No stroller clips. Insulated bottle pockets kinda small.
For S+TMs:
- Lifestyle/body factors that might influence your choice: The obvious, like whether you're carrying stuff for one kid or more; whether you plan to babywear and how - it's super easy to toss on a backpack if you're wearing LO on your front, it's trickier if they're on your back
- Favorite [diaper bag]: We ended up with THREE last time, none of which I chose. And I couldn't return any of them. I did buy a Fjallraven Kanken later on and we still use that; it's my favorite of what we have.
- Link/picture:

- Cost (either actual dollar amount, or just $, $$, $$$, etc.): $80
- What you like about it: The entire front zips open, and along with the shape makes it really easy to pack up and it fits a lot of stuff. It's really durable, too. And I like having a backpack.
- What you don't like about it, if anything: It doesn't wash super well (you're only supposed to spot clean), so ours looks well-loved at this point. It can also get a little diggy because the straps are just webbing, not padded at all (I added strap pads to ours). I also really want something with a shoulder/crossbody strap also.
- Is there a [diaper bag] you don't have but are considering? Why?: Yes but I haven't narrowed it down!
- Is there a [diaper bag] you've tried that you absolutely hate? Why?: We have one that's fine but the shoulder strap is really slippery and it falls off my shoulder every time I bend over at all. We also have a tote style one that's just big and bulky and not easy to carry.
- Additional thoughts on [diaper bags + accessories]?:
Last time, because we were gifted so many bags, I basically used one as my pumping bag for work (it wasn't actually even a diaper bag), one for our regular diaper bag, and the other to send with DD1 when the grandparents watched her. This time I want to get one that I actually have picked out and like, which we will use as our regular bag. I'll have stuff that moves in and out of it - bottles when she's away from me, baby carrier when she's with me, changes of clothes for DD1 and me when we're all together, DD1's stuff when needed, and anything else I think of later on. I'll probably keep the extra clothes for me and DD1 in an extra bag in the car and toss it in the diaper bag if we're going somewhere it would be a pain to run back to the car for something. I can keep extra diapers and a carrier in there, too.@Wishilivedinflorida I really like that Lassig! That might be going on my short list...

This is what I ended up registering for:
https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07DYJZR6Z
It can be carried with hideaway backpack straps, a long messenger/crossbody strap, or the regular handles. That was my biggest "requirement" because that makes it functional for babywearing at various stages. It comes with stroller straps, too, although last time I just used a carabiner to hook the straps together to carry a bag on the handle (because nothing fit under our stroller). It seems like a decent size, maybe a little bigger than my ideal but I think I'm being overly optimistic about carrying a minimal amount of stuff around!

Upgraded to the Lassig Neckline Bag also in Black.
And now I use a cheap wish.com China backpack diaper bag. I need to be handsfree when out and about with our 4.5 year old who is Autistic and likes to wander into danger and who isn’t toilet trained yet.
They are so spacious and pretty cute. I have a peach/coral one and plain grey.
Must haves *** stroller straps/hooks and insulated pockets as well as being stylish and spacious.
@BusinessWife I’m loving the one you registered for!! I put it on my amazon list. After one child, I find I’m liking designated pockets. And though initially for number one I liked tote/shoulder, with two I think I need my hands free.
