Monday BF (6/18)

Re: Monday BF (6/18)

  • Late BF that I've got to deal with billing at my OB again tomorrow. They billed us for an u/s at an uncovered rate - not the rate my insurance said to bill me. I've been getting this specific u/s recoded and dealt with for at least over a month now. How freaking hard could this possibly be?!
  • @purplegoldfish2 I’ve been way more sun sensitive in the last couple months. I definitely think skin is more sensitive!

Monday BF.  It’s 85 in the PNW, which means no AC. Add in 30 teenagers and we have a sauna instead of a classroom. Ugh. Only 2 more days...

  • @knottieamusements I’d probably be more annoyed by it if I was a FTM, but in general I don’t have a lot of questions (but I do have some). I was disappointed when they put me with this nurse twice because they are supposed to rotate me to every provider and so far I’ve seen 2 nurses, but I didn’t say anything because my next 3 appointments were supposed to be doctors... until they switched to that nurse again.

  • @halfanewt that lack of a/c in the PNW still amazes me! When we moved here it was difficult to find a place in the city that had it, and everyone told us we didn’t need it. Welp, my a/c is running strong right now!
  • @chopchop25 right? I actually enjoy running errands just to get the AC from the car, lol

I hate dealing with billing offices - good luck!
  • I don’t know how people do it. We always offer to take everyone’s pets when it gets insanely hot here...I can’t imagine leaving the dogs at home without any a/c.
  • @chopchop25 @halfanewt I don’t care what people say, it still gets hot enough here for AC to be required. Especially more so in the last few years. The first thing we did after we bought our house last year was add in a central AC unit. Couldn’t live without it!
  • I bet people in the South are laughing at us :) “it’s 89 and I just can’t take it!” Isn’t it like 110 in AZ this week?
  • It got up to 95 in northern NH yesterday and today! We had the a/c running and it was comfortable but not cool.. its days like today I'm glad I sleep in the basement where it's always cool!! I couldn't imagine living in southern states where it's hot and humid all the time...
  • Lol @SweetSweetTooth yes! Midwest here as well. 60s is amazing weather! Definitely makes me giggle. That's like warm spring.

My bf, if DH didn't stop changing his mind and changing our daughter's middle names,  I'm gonna lose my shit! So annoying,  smh.

Here in Ontario most people have AC and almost all the public spaces do. And this is where it's really only hot for 4-5 months of the year! Really it's only 70-95 degrees F and that's hot enough for us! I have never lived in a place that didn't have AC.
Maybe because we get so cold the hot feels hotter and we need the cold to survive! The people in the heat all the time must get used to it.

  • Yep Ontario here too, definitely have AC running, especially last couple days. Reached 42C yesterday with humidity (107F??)

I went the first 25 years of my life without AC, and you do totally get used to it. I used to go into peoples homes with AC and freeze my tush off  :D
  • I’m in Alberta, and it’s rare to find homes with AC here (bigger businesses have it, but lots of smaller places don’t). It’s becoming more common for people to get AC installed in new builds, but we really only have maybe 2-4 weeks where it would be really useful.

My BF is that Im on vacation but because I’m a supervisor, and two of my supervisees have court deadlines next week,  I have to work while Im here, so I’ve been getting up at 6 every morning to review drafts. At least pregnancy makes it so I can’t sleep anyway.

ETA: I’m in Oregon this week and though it is hot it’s so much less humid than the NE. I’m happy with just a fan here.
  • @rc-cola It's always crappy when you have to work on your vacation.
  • I'm in Michigan. Because of the humidity, 80 degrees here feels like 115 in California. I lived there for a while and people would constantly be making jokes about how I couldn't handle such high temperatures and I'd always be like "This is nothing??? I could stand in this temperature literally all day long???"
It was hotter when I landed back in Michigan at 1 am and it was 75 degrees than it ever was the entire time I stayed in California lol

  • @mytrueloves I'm in Michigan too and my whole family is in California. When I used to visit in the summer, they'd be like "Oh she's going to melt, she probably can't take this 110*" They were the ones that would complain about it tho, I loved it. Then they got like 30% humidity and complained about how muggy it was. I laughed at them. It felt wonderful out, I didn't even notice it. Humidity is the worst! I'll never move anywhere more humid than this, I wouldn't be able to handle it. Lol

My BF is my toes. Which sounds hilarious without context haha.

I had a botched pedicure 3 years ago that resulted in an infection. Antibiotics didn’t clear it up so I had to have both my big toenails removed. Insanely painful. I was lucky that they grew back at all; however, when they grew back (after 10 months), they grew crooked and were basically growing far under my skin on each side of the toe. It’s been painful for the last 2 years and got to the point I can’t have a sheet touch my toe in bed.

So yesterday, my foot and ankle specialist numbed the 2 big toes, went in and removed the parts of the nail on each side of the toes that were stabbing me under my skin.

It’s not as painful as when they took the whole nail but my toes are throbbing and I’m walking very gingerly at work. I’m still pissed at the pedicure place that caused all this to begin with.

  • I had a portion of my toenail removed for an in-grown toenail. It was not a fun recovery.

    @sarahzett that sounds pretty awful

@sammierose464 You know the feeling lol. I woke up in throbbing pain in the middle of the night but they feel better now that I’ve done a warm water and epsom soak this morning so hopefully it continues to get better not worse.

@kfrob yeah, it’s def not my idea of fun - plus I can’t go into a pool for 2 weeks. Booooo lol

  • Ugh! I called the dr office to change my appointment and they were closed because it was noon - didn’t get home in time to call them again before they closed... and I unexpectedly sat out at an aunt’s house (I went to drop something off and ended up staying and chatting for a while) and got a burn on top of my burn... at least the dermatologist appointment was earlier and he was nice and said he’d pretend the burn wasn’t there.

Re weather - we are right near the Great Lakes so when it gets hot here it gets humid.  I used to not care about it, but ever since having kids, my tolerance of it has decreased dramatically.  We’ve had the ac on since Memorial Day & my kids ask to wear shorts once it starts getting into the 60s in the spring.  We also wear sweatshirts outside most of the winter (unless we plan to be outside for more than car to building things).  We do bring the jackets in case anything happens on the road, but rarely wear them.

  • ODD was supposed to start her summer day camp on Monday but has been sick since Sunday with a hardcore cold. That's $160 worth of non refundable camp down the drain. On top of that, DF's work schedule has temporarily changed from evening shift to day shift (used to be 3 to midnight now it's 5 am to 3 pm) so all of our sleep schedules have been thrown. Taking care of sick DD is completely exhausting and today she woke up throwing up  because the cold triggered her reflux. My house is a mess, we have no clean laundry, I don't have the energy to cook, and the dogs have been assholes today and both peed and shit on the floor despite being repeatedly let outside. Ugh. I'm exhausted and overwhelmed and can't complain to DF because he goes to bed at the same time we do but has to get up at 5.

  • @mytrueloves Sorry you are having a rough day!! I used to work PM shift and changing our schedules like that always threw us and the dogs out of whack. Keep you chin up and I hope your day turns around!

@jemmerjams Outlook web app is the worst...I feel your pain.

  • @mytrueloves I"m sorry you've got so much going on! Don't be hard on yourself when it come to taking care of the house. You've got a sick kid and a growing baby to take care of! Shift changes like that suck.
  • @jemmerjams same thing happened to me when I changed my last name at work....everything crashed! So stupid. It didnt work properly till I had DS and came back from a year off.

@mytrueloves take it easy on yourself! That's a lot going on, and to be pregnant on top of it all. Next week will be better :)
  • @mytrueloves - Sending hugs your way; some days all the things just pile on, and life gets shitty.
  • Well I managed to get the dishes done that have been piling up in the sink for 3 days and cleaned up the kitchen. Had to do an emergency load of laundry because the dogs peed on it  :s now I'm tackling sickie central, also known as the living room where ODD has been camping out since Sunday  :#

  • This is really such a petty BF but stupid hormonal me is in tears over it. I've been wanting to take SS to see the Incredibles 2. I ran out of time to get him to see the 1st one before father's day, so I planned to go tomorrow. Of course his mom took him and his little gf to see it last night.
  • @sammierose464 I get that. I cried (not pregnant) when DH started reading DS1 Harry Potter without asking me! DH has seen the movies because I made him come with me, and has zero interest in the books. I was so upset.

  • I feel like every time there's a new Disney or Pixar movie its like a competition to who can take him first. We really wanted to take him to see Coco. It came out Thanksgiving and we were getting him the next day. Of course his mom took him Friday am before we got him.
  • SS just told me he wants to see it again. Maybe we will go tomorrow still. It's supposed to rain all day.
  • So, I have my own late breaking BF-

I texted my contractor this morning to see if the painters would be done with all of their prep work today because I know it will involve sanding, and I really, really want to start cleaning the construction dust from the rest of the house.

I get to the house this evening and they clearly painted the trim without doing any sanding - as in I can literally see the original paint peeling up under the fresh coat.  Yeah, no.  Not even.

I texted the contractor who tells me not to worry, the painters aren’t done yet.  Yeah, only because I called them out on it.  Now I am hesitant to start cleaning because they still are going to be generating more f-ing dust to fix the sht they should have done the first time around.

I will tell myself that if this is the biggest problem I have to deal with, then the project is fine.  I’ll keep telling myself that until it gets fixed.  I know that overall, this has been a pretty easy process, but I’m still all grumpy about it.
  • Contractors are the worst (no offense to any). Just seems like no accountability. Haven’t have a good experience yet.
  • @rabtaido1214 - I had a contractor that I loved in Alaska.  But even with him, you had to pay attention.  It seems like if they don’t live there, they don’t pay much attention to the details...
  • That's frustrating for sure.
