Symptoms Week of 6/17

How's everyone feeling?

Congestion hit me like a train 2 days ago and I am MISERABLE.  I'm not sure if it's purely a pregnancy symptom or if it's something to do with my allergy meds.  Is it a thing for medication to wear off more quickly while pregnant, or just not work at all?  I usually take Zyrtec every morning all spring, summer, and fall, with no issues.  For the past several days it's like it's not even doing anything.  I take it in the morning with breakfast and by lunch I am itchy and sneezing and completely stuffed up.

Re: Symptoms Week of 6/17

  • I don’t know about the allergy meds effectiveness while pregnant, but I’ve also been congested the last few days. I don’t have seasonal allergies, so I think mine is purely pregnancy related. Today I had some cramping and lower back pain. Also, my gums have been bleeding a bit when I floss (last night and tonight).

  • The past couple of days I've gotten sore boobs and nipples. I feel like it's so late for these symptoms. The sore nipples were one of my first with DS. I still nurse DS one to two times a day so it's been super uncomfortable and I think he will be fully weaned soon because it is just not fun.

Other than that still getting headaches and fatigue.

  • @hkom I'm in the same boat. It feels like allergies, I take my meds and an hour later it's like I never took anything. I'm starting to wonder if maybe it's a cold or pregnancy symptom that I am confusing for allergies.
  • @AdorkablePixie I've also been having sore boobs lately, I just figure they're starting to grow again.

Afm, throw some braces on me and I swear I could pass as a middle schooler. My face is SO broken out!! Granted it's never stopped, but it's so much worse than normal!

@kristah2 Exactly.  Based on how I felt last night and now this morning I'm starting to think it's just a cold.

  • @PensieCrayon I just keep waiting for the headaches to go away. I think shortly after the first tri they started to go away last time. I am really hoping that happens again this time.

  • @echo-charlietango I’m getting more skin tags in my pits lately too. I usually shave them off when I’m shaving, and hardly notice, but... eewwwww

  • feeling generally good, but starting to realize that even though i FEEL like i can do whatever, i get super tired way faster. We had a jam packed weekend and I paid for it last evening and today. I am wiped! But I'll take a little more rest for feeling good. I told someone the other day that I feel pretty much like I did before i was pg, just more naps and more snacks now.
  • @PensiveCrayon I did read that they can get worse in the second tri. Mine went away last time, thankfully. I get headaches normally a lot too, mainly because of my neck problems but I'm sure other thins contribute too. I just HATE waking up with a headache or getting one shortly after. Sometimes eating helps, I guess when I'm hungry it gets worse.

  • @maureenmce
I'm sorry your vomiting issues continue.

For me this week it is unbearable back pain.  I took some tylenol this morning and it didn't touch it.  I luckily have a standing desk as well, but nothing is comfortable for me right now. I wish I could take some higher dose pain meds or even use icy hot  :/ the worst part is that we have an out of town wedding 5 hours away this weekend so I'll be spending 10+ hours in the car

@PensiveCrayon I've been having headaches too! I always get them in the second tri though, so I assume they're just pregnancy related. Hope yours (and mine and everyone's) pass soon! I forget how far into the second tri they lasted last time but I know for sure they were gone by third tri.

    Thanks @AdorkablePixie and @Jens_Hoes
  • @Jens_Hoes Do you think an exercise ball would help? Maybe siting/bouncing/rocking on one might help.

  • @lexidawg I'm not sure if I'm reading your post correctly - peeing only 3 times in a 6-hour timeframe sounds heavenly to me. :D:D

@Jen_Hoes Same for me over the weekend! It's been random-ish but always when I'm trying to loungey sit/lie on the couch or in bed. Yesterday, when I was driving too. Luckily, it doesn't bother me when I'm fully lying down (i.e., when I'm sleeping). I'm assuming it's baby/organ pushing on nerves. I didn't have anything like this pain with DD.
I sit on a ball at work, and it hasn't bothered me yet. (Well, i went for a walk earlier and i was hurting after.) Last night I did 20 minutes on/off a heating pad for a couple of hours.
Hope you get some relief soon!
  • @hoosiermama-2 I agree! Two nights ago I was up every hour...  :(

Other than that, I had some bad headaches this weekend, and my acne is terrible and in all sorts of new places (right in between my breasts?!). Definitely feeling more energized but I get tired out faster. Still pretty emotional. Queasiness and food aversions are lifting. But the lack of symptoms is freaking me out! Lol.

  • @AdorkablePixie no, that really never helps.  I'm going to use the heating pad later, which will be torture since its 90+ here.
Fingers crossed it goes away soon
  • @maureenmce I am glad you are starting to look more pregnant!

My boobs have also become sore again at 12 weeks and the headaches are so annoying. It has been so hot, that I have been been drinking over 100 oz of water to try to stay hydrated, but then I pee constantly. DS is getting so tired of me dragging him to the bathroom when we are out. He says, “I don’t need a potty break!!” I’m like I know, but mommy does.
  • hoosiermama-2 I mean.. while sleeping?  I have been getting up once a night but 3 times seemed excessive. What do I know? LOL
    Pregnancy Ticker
  • @lexidawg Lol, 2-3 times a night was my normal pre-pregnancy! But hey, we're all different. My mom jokes that my sister and I got our tiny bladders from her side of the family.
    BabyFetus Ticker
  • Owww lightening crotch.
  • Peeing like 75x a day. I pee, then I leave the bathroom and IMMEDIATELY feel like I have to pee again. Like every 2 seconds. I'm starting to think it might be more than just pregnancy and maybe it's a uti, but I dunno :(

I'm tired, but less so, which is awesome because I can actually get work done!  I stayed away work until 9 tonight because I was actually being productive!
  • @scaredunprepared
If you are legitimately concerned about a UTI, definitely call your dr.  UTI's in pregnant women can be dangerous.
  • @scaredunprepared I know for a fact when I sit down to pee I'm not completely emptying my bladder because my uterus is cutting it off or something.  I had literally just peed and had an ultrasound and told the tech i was sorry for peeing because it would have been easier if I hadn't and she said "oh, your bladder isn't empty." lol.... so that confirmed it! It wouldn't hurt to get checked, but I think most OBs check for that every time you go for an appointment.

Threw up after like two sips of water again this morning, even after taking Pepcid, so I'm thinking I'll have to ask my dr about the next level of stronger medication, or just accept that I'm going to be puking a few times a week until December! I've weirdly gotten used to it? So I'm feeling less depressed about it, which is good at least. But also COME ON I'm 16 weeks, I did not expect to still be vomiting!

Edited to add, the second I posted this my cat threw up! So we're having a banner morning over here, jeez.
  • @maureenmce Yuck! I’m sorry you are still vomiting and that your cat isn’t giving you a break.
  • @maureenmce Bah! Sorry about living in barftown USA :cold_sweat:

  • @morgantu I try to eat a combo of things like an apple and cheese or a handful of nuts and a banana and try to couple that with a glass of water.

I got PVCs on Monday from walking up two flights of stairs in the oppressive heat.  I've had them before so I know how they feel.  I called my Dr and now I have to see a cardiologist next week though my Dr said it's fairly common to get heart palpitations of some sort during pregnancy.
