Dear OP, Please change your username from the default knottie. Read the ***READ FIRST*** thread. Introduce yourself in that appropriate thread. Plop your ultrasound it the US thread.
If rules & playing along aren’t your gig, just lurk. It’s cool.

Idk, i think a nub theory thread seems to be reasonably different topic from ultrasounds and might be of interest for other expecting mothers in this group? I personally would also be interested in one.
@angela0822 To be honest it just not something that’s a part of TB culture because of the lack of any real science behind it (something TB is all about) and the lack of qualified sonographers generally hanging around to actually know what they’re looking at. It’s pretty much just a game to guess the sex, and that’s never been a thing here. There are plenty of boards that will enthusiastically play along, TB just isn’t one of them. I’m NOT saying, “Go away, we don’t like you if you want to play the nub theory game.” Just saying that there are many places for it if you really want to. But pretty much anywhere you try to post something like that on this board you’ll get push back, not just here in Dec 2018.
That’s why I prefer TB over other boards. I want all of the science and very little speculation. I actually had to look up Nub Theory this morning. IMO it seems real useless if the timing is best in weeks 12-14...when a NIPT can be drawn at week 10. If someone is *so* antsy for the sex, why not just look for those little Y chromosomes floating about in future-mom’s blood?! It’s potentially faster and more accurate.

Yeah but it costs out of pocket money for those things, whereas a 12 week ultrasound is oftentimes covered fully by insurance. I opted out of my NIPT because it was 100 out of pocket and wouldnt change anything about my loving the baby. Also, its the only "early" gender prediction method that does have scientific data! Also, isn't this an open online forum? If we are following rules, isn't it ALL of our place to create the culture of the forum rather than be told what the culture here is an follow? I thought that was part of being a member of the birth club, was participating in the culture.
I GREATLY appreciate the organization (lol trust me I also get annoyed by all the random knottie posts that are like out of nowhere and clutter everything) but i though this was supposed to be a fun place for expecting mothers to get to bond and do fun things like "lets compare nubs!!" Lol and it seems a little rough to say, "no we cant talk about this or that here because we just can't."
Lol no popcorn needed im not trying to be difficult or start stuff, i just clicked on this thread because I was interested to see and I'd read quite a bit about it and I was a little disappointed with the responses.
I never said you can’t do it. Of course you can start whatever thread you want to. I’m just explaining why you might not get the traction/responses you’re looking for on this particular board. And that there are other boards that are more open to it in general.
The inherent culture of a forum attracts certain people. Because TB presents itself as more science-based, it attracts members who want that type of culture. People being opposed to Nub or Ramzi or whatever, or not wanting AW posts from random knotties isn't because those are The Rules, it's because the large majority of us think its ridiculous and annoying, and a lot of us aren't afraid to tell people that. People can start whatever threads they want, but they should be prepared for a bunch of people to tell them it's BS.
The bonding experience I've had with the other women on this board has been fantastic. Most of us just don't bond over pseudoscience. We can be snarky for sure, but it's supposed to be fun/funny, not mean-spirited.
1. I have no objections to someone starting a general nub theory thread so that interested folks can analyze one another's ultrasounds and compare nubs. Not my jam, but not every thread is about me so :shrugs:
2. Context here that made this thread different from that suggestion: this wasn't a general interest nub theory thread when it was posted. The OP has removed the photo of her own US, but initially this was a call to analyze one person's picture, not a general discussion, which is part of the reason I think the OP got the response she did.

I’m sure no judgement was intended, but IMHO this phrasing marginalizes what the most loving moms I know have been through. Feelings of love and medical dx/outcomes/decisions are not correlated. *Just a note from your friendly, neighborhood AMA crew...
Otherwise @agk2015 has again said exactly what I would have, so no need to duplicate.
