Monday can not come soon enough! I just want to go to my OB appointment and hear this little man's heartbeat. Still haven't been able to hear it. And after a long week in Florida's blistering heat and humidity, my anxiety is killing me!
@bfpafter4years How was your trip? Tell me everything! I'm in major Disney withdrawal. I hope tomorrow goes by quickly so your appointment is here before you know it.
@offtoneverland it was really good but so hot!! We went to all four parks, but we only did a full day on the first day we were there. DD just couldn't handle it and she was breaking down most days by 3pm. So the rest of my family stayed and I took her back to the resort to get pool time. We stayed at Port Orleans Riverside. It was very nice and exactly the same way I remembered it. DD also did the makeover and we had lunch at Cinderella's table that day.
I hope we can go back when DD is older because although she said she had fun, there was a lot that she couldn't/wouldn't do. We tried to get on as many rides as possible though.
If we go back, I am definitely not going in the summer again (although I have always gone in the summer before). Maybe being pregnant was what made it so hard this time. I feel like I drank a gallon of water a day!
@bfpafter4years I meant to respond to this yesterday. Thank you for giving me so many details of your trip! I love it when people tell me everything about their trips, but most people just say "It was good!" and leave me hanging.
I've heard good things about Port Orleans Riverside but haven't stayed there myself. Even though it feels weird to leave the park during the day after spending all that money on tickets, that really is the best way to do Disney with kids (well, even with adults)! It can be so hot during the day. I grew up going to Disneyland and I have so many fond memories of going to the hotel during the day to get a break from the heat, take a nap, and play in the pool.
Did your DD enjoy meeting the characters? My DD is super shy, so I didn't think she'd like the characters, but she loved them. We went when she was 2, and I had to totally change my plans once I realized she liked the characters more than the rides. We may make a trip next fall, but I'm trying to figure out if it'd be crazy to try that with a 4 year old and a 10 or 11 month old! I need my Disney fix though.
@offtoneverland that is exactly what happened with my DD when we went in 2015. Her first trip in 2014, she was too little to care. In 2015, she was about 20 months, and when planning I thought she would A. Not care about the characters or B. Be too afraid. But when we were there, her reactions to the characters were so magical. So our touring plan changed because we wanted to make sure she was able to see as many characters as we could. But now that she’s a little older, there are certain characters she loves to meet, such as Mickey, Minnie, Daisy and princesses... but everyone else she wants no part of meeting, even Goofy! It’s funny to see how she changed from adoring everyone to being super cautious about it. Also, you should definitely plan that trip! I know I’ll be lugging my DD and the new baby down there in October 2019!
@bfpafter4years we have stayed at Port Orleans Riverside once before, in the Royal Guest Rooms. It was beautiful! I have a feeling my September trip will be similar to yours... lots of resort breaks and gallons of water!
@pink_polkadots Do you have a hotel you prefer to stay at, or do you switch it up? My mom (who lives in Florida and has an annual pass) has told us great things about the non-Disney resorts near Disney Springs. I think we may try that one for our next trip. We usually love the Disney hotels, but everything there has just gotten SO expensive. It's worth it, but man!
That's funny that your daughter was the same way with the characters. I'm really interested to see what DD will think next time we go. I'm such a planner, so it really stressed me out having to try to change our fast passes to some of the character meet and greets. We usually don't do character greetings at all, so it was a big change trying to figure it all out on the fly.
Maybe we'll plan our 2019 trip in October too so we can meet up. Although we're practically neighbors so it would be funny to meet up half way across the country.
Random question for you ladies-- anyone have a stretch mark/shea butter cream they love? First pregnancy and I KNOW it's mainly genetic if you get them or not but hey, putting one on can't hurt! What's your fav? (questions thread was for last week and didn't want to start a new thread).
@eahayes I have been using the Makes Three Organics brand, you can find it on Amazon. I also use the Carol's Daughter moisturizer. I have used Shea butter and belly balms with all three but always ended up with stretch marks nonetheless.
@offtoneverland her favorite ride was Peter Pan's Flight (which also happened to be the first one we went on!) And she loved the characters. I was really worried about that because she has sort of outgrown princesses and is way more into My Little Pony. But she still had fun meeting them. Her favorite she met at Disney was Auroa (who was always her favorite one).
@offtoneverland so we have stayed at a few different resorts. Mostly moderates- Coronado Springs, Riverside and French Quarter. We stayed at Animal Kingdom Lodge one year also. Last year we tried something different and we rented DVC points and stayed at Saratoga Springs. We are renting points again this year and trying Old Key West. I’ve really loved every resort we have stayed at. If I had to chose one of those to stay at again it’d be French Quarter. It’s quaint and small, and DD loves the pool and splash pad they have. Also, the boat to Disney Springs is always a relaxing way to end the day. We were going to try one of those Disney springs hotels this year actually, but my in laws are traveling with us this year and they both use a scooter in the parks. The transportation options available for them wasn’t as reliable as a Disney bus, so we just went ahead and split a 2 bedroom villa with them this year. It ended up being about the same price as booking 2 rooms at some of those hotels.
Im also definitely the planner of my family, so I’m in charge of basically mapping out the entire vacation, but I love it! I have learned a lot though over the past 7 years of going!
@eahayes I'm a ftm but I have been using bio-oil. My belly hasnt had any itching and always feels hydrated. stretch marks on my boobs from first trimester are already lightening from use which is an added bonus. I use 2x a day
@pink_polkadots@offtoneverland We're planning a Oct/Nov 2019 trip too! I fully intend on celebrating LO's 1st birthday at Disney! I am having major withdrawals and that is the only thing helping to pass the time!
