October 2018 Moms

June AMA moms!

Well i am the slackiest slacker that ever slacked and completely skipped over May.  I also put my keys in a bathroom door, and threw away a perfectly good yogurt container before i ate it this morning, just so you have a glimpse into my mental capacity at the moment.  :dizzy:

How far along are you?
How are you feeling?
Any concerns/questions/declarations?

Re: June AMA moms!

  • How far along are you? Almost 21 weeks
How are you feeling? This is the glorious time where i feel pretty good, and feel like i am taking care of business.  Why can't all of pregnancy feel like this?
Any concerns/questions/declarations?  I'm starting to have some valid concerns about a VBAC.  i know the risks of it being unsuccessful increase at 35, and its starting to seem very real that i will need to remove this baby from my body at some point, somehow.  I'm just trying to stay positive on this front.  In more positive news, this baby is currently head down (not that it matters at 21 weeks)  But at least its a sign that it knows where the exit is?  Come on baby, don't follow in your brothers footsteps!

How are you feeling?  Pretty darn good.  I have more motivation than time to get things done which is frustrating.  I do find pregnancy harder this time but idk if its age related or toddler related.
Any concerns/questions/declarations?  I feel like I'm more nervous about labor this time around.  It's weird since I had a pretty easy birth last time...  I also feel guilt that I took better care of myself when pregnant with DD.

@jengibre_zorro At my a/s they told me LO is feet down and I had a minor panic attack, then I told my crazy person self to calm down and worry about it at like 36 weeks.

How far along are you? 21w today

How are you feeling?  Not bad.  Having a hard time staying hydrated.  Also, I tried exercising Saturday (walked with DD in the stroller) and it was humid out and I was STRUGGLING.

Any concerns/questions/declarations?   It isn't AMA related, really, but since you asked... I'm having a hard time managing stress.  My doctor wrote me out of work for a week and a half a few weeks ago because I was getting all sorts of anxiety and headaches.  I'm feeling a lot of pressure at work.  Our company allows 6 months for Mat leave which is amazing, and I took it both times with DD and DS.  I requested it again this time, and my boss asked if I would work from home for some number of hours during the time.  I agreed because I don't think we can afford another 6 month leave, but now I'm just getting anxiety over it and I feel like a lot of pressure is coming down from my boss on some of the stuff I am working on.

It's nice to feel irreplaceable at your job but give me a break.  I don't want to be stressed out about this crap when I am home on my leave with 3 little kids.

22w5d.  From one of the weekly check-ins, I will also reluctantly note that I am 17w2d from my EDD.

    How are you feeling?

Not pregnant, except when something slaps me in the face and tells me I am pregnant.  I don’t know what “feeling pregnant” is supposed to be, but I guess I’ll figure it out in the next for months, or just figure out whst it feels like for me.  (Basically, other than occasional heartburn and frequent baby kicks, I mostly only realize I’m pregnant when I am trying to do something physical.)

    Any concerns/questions/declarations?

I declare that apples and peanut butter are a gourmet snack.

But, also, what @lest12 said.  Keeping things in perspective is really hard for me right now.

How far along are you? 21 weeks exactly

How are you feeling? Pretty good, except I still have no desire for any sort of sexy time with DH. I try to psych myself up for it but... bleh. I feel really bad about it, too. But other than that, doing great! Baby moves around like crazy!

Any concerns/questions/declarations? I declare that having a couple drinks at the pool on vacation is a necessary thing, and to see everyone else doing it is torture! I sneak a sip here and there, but it’s not the saaaame!

@knottieamusements Agree with your declaration!  Sadly I can no longer eat apples due to stinking oral allergy symptoms  :(

How are you feeling? My body is having aches and pains WAY earlier this pregnancy than last. The "good" second trimester was over pretty quick and that's annoying.

Any concerns/questions/declarations? I'm so boring right now. I was forgetting I was pregnant most of the time, until my belly just SHOWED UP last week and now nothing fits. I hate clothes. And I'm sighing when I have to hoist myself off the ground (which is the only place my toddler wants me!)
  • Pregnancy is definitely more difficult with a toddler! My kid is 40 pounds, I'm wondering when I should stop carrying him. I don't do it too often but if I'm trying to get him out the door quickly or into school without him running into the street, it's easiest to carry him, but it is not feeling great!

I think I'm 22 weeks. I was feeling better but the damn headaches are back and I suck at sleeping.
  • How far along are you? Almost 20 weeks
How are you feeling? Also not pregnant (except for the belly), which is great. Last time I was exhausted and never got the second trimester energy back. This time I can actually do things, although I do get tired more easily.
    Any concerns/questions/declarations?  Nope

@jweber4747 Your body will tell you when to stop carrying him.  My boys are also 40 lbs, which is actually light for their age.  When I was at the MFM for my anatomy scan she also checked my hernia and said that even with the hernia I could still pick up my kids.  She knew they were 5, but not their weight.

    21+1 weeks

    How are you feeling?
Mostly pretty good, but starting to get Braxton Hicks which make me nervous (DS1 showed up at 27 weeks and I was already 4cm dilated before I had any true contractions). I’d like these two to stay put longer than him so I’m probably headed off work in the next week or two. But I have around 12 weeks worth of sick time built up, so it should be doable.

    Any concerns/questions/declarations?
People at work keep looking at me like I’m a bomb ready to explode. It’s somewhere between endearing and infuriating. It’s nice that they care, but come on, I’m responsible enough to go off work if there is any indication that it’s necessary.

How far along are you? 19 weeks, 2 days
How are you feeling? Soooooo much better. I can stay up past 8:30 and I don’t feel sick anymore.
Any concerns/questions/declarations? AS is on Thursday. Hoping all is well with baby.

How are you feeling? Bronchitis has finally subsided, but I don't have that "not pregnant" feeling. My body is tired and I have lots of little aches and pains in addition to lots of movement from baby. I still struggle to find a comfortable position to sleep in so I never quite feel rested.

Any concerns/questions/declarations? No concerns really. I just wish I had more energy. My 3 1/2 year old is home with me and now my older kids will be out for the summer this Friday. I'm not sure how much energy I'll have to entertain them this year. Baby is breech but we have plenty of time to right the ship. It's just all my other kids were always head down and stayed that way. If surgery were necessary I have zero family to rely on to help.

How are you feeling? I'm loving this part of pregnancy still not 100% uncomfortable and feeling baby kicks is the best.  This weekend I felt a complete turn, that was awesome!  For a while I didn't think we'd have kid#3 and I yearned for feeling those baby flutters again and soak that feeling in one last time!  Yeah, I'm one of those people that mostly likes pregnancy. (In great part because it didn't come with morning sickness for me)
    Any concerns/questions/declarations?
Follow-up from last thread - my AFP results came back abnormal - indicator for neural tube defects including spina bifida.  Normal cutoff is around 2.5, over 3.0 is concerning and usually a ultrasound follows. My level was 2.9, instead of retesting they just went ahead and did the ultrasound.  My anatomy scan is in two weeks but they got a lot of the measurements yesterday and I'll just do a followup to double check everything in two weeks.  They checked the heart, kidneys, brain - specifically cerebelum, esophagus, and of course the spine.  Everything seems normal.  Which is a huge relief.  99% chance everything is okay with baby.  Of course the 1% chance still leaves a bit of concern but they'll do growth ultrasounds to make sure he's not restricted.  The good thing is I make big babies - he's currently measuring 95th percentile, about 11oz so his growth is a non-issue at this point. The concerning part was she said it might not be anything now but even after birth it'll be noted in his chart in case of growth issues. But it also could just be completely normal!

So much information with the genetic counselor. I feel more at ease but just staying extra vigilant.  Before this test I was 0% worried of something being wrong but now that little 1% is a little thorn to deal with.  The next step would be an amnio which is high risk to not get much more reassurance.  We would not be eligible for in-utero surgery because it's not anything major but probably something that can be fixed post-partum and not detectable now.

This was me this past weekend.  I had to carry my 50lb, 4 year old accross a football field.  We were headed to a graduation, parking was horrible, he fell asleep in the car and I conned him out with a piggy back ride.  I got across the football field before I bribed him with screen time if he would walk the rest of the way.  I don't go to the gym but I do get exercise in with a 5&4 year
