If it's a boy we're pretty set on James Edward after our grandfathers.
We're not as sure for girls, but for years we have been considering Marie Evelyn or Evelyn Marie, after our great grandmothers. However, lately I've been thinking about maybe incorporating Anne somehow to honor my mom, who passed away a few years ago. Any thoughts? Our last name starts with a vowel, so I think having both the first and middle names start with vowels as well might be too much.

What about a variant of Maryann? It would still honor the grandmother named Marie and also include your mother. Marianna and Marian are both beautiful and work well with Evelyn.
then again... I don’t think it’s a big deal for all three initials to be vowels. If her name is meaningful and they initials don’t spell something unfortunate, I say go with what you like.

Thanks. I like Marianne or Marian, but don't love the double-n ending when coupled with Evelyn. I like Annmarie also, but the full name would really be a mouthful.
I may just stick with Evelyn Marie or Marie Evelyn, and save the Anne for if we have a second girl.
Baby boy name is pretty much set, well first name anyway. Sutton.
Baby girl names...are all over the place. Possibly Eliana Grace and calling her Ella Grace. My mom died a few years ago, her name was Georgiana but I do not want to use that, and would like to use something similar. So the Ana and the G for Grace would be close. We also liked Aniston Grace (Anna Grace) and LilaKate. I like double names haha

@ladystout08 Stella is my all time favorite girl name! I was so bummed when DH vetoed it. Stella Elizabeth is gorgeous!
Thank you! DH's grandmother was Stella and she was amazing. We weren't into namesakes when I was pregnant with DS but we lost her two years ago and miss her so. Elizabeth is a nod to his other grandmother who passed last November, she was Betty but Stella Betty sounds funny I think.
I have no idea for another girl. I think we really want to use the name Anne or Anna but I'm not sold on anything. I think I kind of like Ruth Anne, Anna Claire, Anna Faye, Clara Anne. I have no clue.
@ladystout08 I think it would be weird if your sister goes by Alex, but if she goes by Alexandria or Ali then you might be okay. I don’t think I’d choose something so close unless it was purposefully to honor her.

We had Finnick Gerrit picked for a boy the 1st time around, and ended up having a girl...so, I don’t know if we’ll stick with that or not this time! For a girl, I’m thinking Henley Ruth (my Mom is named after a woman named Ruth Henley)! What do you guys think? First girl is Ryean Bethany! We’re team Green!
@ladystout08 Nope, not in my books. I think since it would be a boy, there's enough separation if that's what you're worried about. I'm of the opinion that nobody "owns" a name. If you like a name, use it. Our girl name is Josephine and I have an aunt that I'm super close with whose name is Josephine. I would not be naming my child after her, we just really like the name. I have no qualms about doing so. You don't want to look back and regret not giving your child a name you love because of a silly worry about it being too close to another name.

Astrid Clare (possibly with a second middle name) if it's a girl and we've got nothing for a boy. We're really hoping for a girl so we don't have to fight over boy names.
If you go with Finnick, you might want to brace yourself for a lifetime of "Like the Hunger Games character?"
Incidentally, this is the same reason I'll never use Bella. Though I've always loved that name, Twilight ruined it for me lol. You may not mind if you're a big HG fan.
@AshVA I liked the name Bella for a while, too. It means beautiful in Italian; however between Twilight and knowing too many people who've named their dog Bella, the name lost its luster for me.
It is so early that my husband is not really wanting to have a serious baby name discussion, but we do have some names that we have talked about in the past. Rafe was our boy name choice the last two pregnancies that ended up as girls. I assume that it will continue to be at the top of the list.
Girl names are so hard for us. I feel like I have looked at every single girl name out there and my husband and I can't agree on any of them. The name that we both like right now is Saskia.
@CoastieGirl79 Funny enough, if it weren't for Twilight, I probably would have named my dog Bella when I got her in 2010. However, back then in particular I think the "like from Twilight?" questions (or silent assumptions) would have been endless.
At present, my good friend is angry with me because she wanted to name her baby girl Ava. She's upset because that's my dog's name. I'm chalking it up to prego hormones because she's actually seriously angry with me. I told her to name her that anyway, it's not like anybody else knows my dog is named Ava when they know her kid's name? LOL. I found it kind of funny, so I figured I would share!

I think I participated in the old thread but I also don't remember.
Girl: Our front runner is Emerson BUT I hate the nicknames for it (Em, emma, etc) so I think ultimately it's not a good choice because I can't imagine nick names wouldn't be used. It's also been on the popularity rise.
Boy: We had several choices before but they all are kind of falling flat. I love Everett but H says it's too southern. He likes Easton which I think is EVEN MORE southern. We considered Emmett as well. Middle name for all would be James since it's a pretty big family name.
Basically when it comes down to it, we aren't even close to actually having names. And I plan to wait until the NIPT to talk more seriously about it. Apparently we really like E names though.

@oaklandava My younger brother and his girlfriend got a dog a couple of years ago and told me they were naming her Isla. I was like well, just so you know, if we ever have a girl, we'll name her Lilah. Now, DD gets called Isla sometimes by my dad lol
@BitterBetty12 I use to love the name Emerson until some creepy old guy made a joke about em er son big ones talking about boobs. Now that’s all I can ever think about when someone says that name!
@ladystout08 we're both really hoping we'll get to use it. I'm definitely "feeling" girl and I was right with the other two, but obviously can't be sure at 10 weeks! Lol
I told MH that he has no say in naming this kid because he ended up picking both of our daughters names. If it’s a girl she will be Ada James and if it’s a boy he’ll be Miller James. James was my uncle’s name that I was really close too and he passed away. Since this is our last baby the kid will have the middle name James either way. We also lean towards Southern-sounding, double names.
DH and I were discussing a MN for our girl name (Scarlett) last night. I told him that I thought a single syllable name would flow best and said that I liked Reese. He proceeds to argue with me that Reese was “toeing the line of a one syllable name because it’s *almost* two syllables.”
Just.. what.

As a dog trainer I can confirm a lot of people name their dog Bella haha. Also Brady, but that might just be because we are in Boston. I also currently have two Georges.
Girl names: Miranda (front runner), Audrey, Cassandra (Cassie) and the middle name will be Elizabeth which is my middle name.
Boy names: Michael, Zachary. Those were the othrt two names we were considering when I was pregnant with DS. Middle name will be Charles. I would love Charles (Charley) to be a first name but I know my brothers would call him Chucky. Charles was my grandfather’s name and my great grandfather’s middle name but everyone called him Charley.

At the risk of restarting The Great "Jaxson" Debate, is their any chance your grandmother and mom are being facetious? Like, "Why stop at one X? How about another? Use all the X's!"
FWIW, if your husband just really likes the nn "Jax," I think it's perfectly reasonable to use that nn/ spelling with "Jackson."
