• @TravelingCouple I swear I was just thinking that looking at the list, it's really time huh :) I can't believe you're hosting a BBQ today I was done at 37 weeks. All I want to do today is sleep!! Enjoy but I hope ur taking it easy too!!

i guess I'm in the nesting faze as I'm exhausted and not interested in going anywhere! The pressure in my lower abdomen is just a lot however I think this Lil one is very comfy cozy!! I feel like I'm living in the bathroom at this point too!

you will all laugh, I've got my snack bag ready before my regular bag :D I did start my bag I'm like 1/2 way, I've never procrastinated so much in my life!

i have my high risk dr tomorrow and then my OB on Wednesday im curious how much I've dropped as I still feel like I look the same, to me my bump looks like it's pointier.

hope everyone is enjoying Memorial Day!

@Hopeful_mom & @TravelingCouple we are so close!! How've you been feeling?

@laurad75 welcome! I'm so glad everything is looking good with your baby boy :)

@2MomsHoping I'm in Michigan & we forsure skipped spring! We went from the 40's to the 80's like over night. Glad you were able to rest even if it was inside; I'm with ya on the AC! And we are in the same boat...still working on names & d-day is in 3 weeks.

afm, we went up to my parents lake house Friday to Monday & it was beautiful, I got some sun on this bump! I have a check up Thursday & we'll go from there. Just working on my hospital bag this week & organizing our nursery bc it's a hot mess.
• @laurad75 welcome to the 3rd trimester!!! Great to see you.
@Hopeful_mom I bet you are so ready. Time must be standing still!! Get that bag packed :)
@2MomsHoping names are so hard to pick! We skipped spring in Colorado too. It was like 90 and I was miserable this weekend.
@Aera11 and @TravelingCouple you’re so close! Are you anxious? Excited? Ready?

I’m thinking a lot lately about my dog. She’s an adorable 8lb dauchound. She’s my spirit animal and I love her so much. However, she sucks with kids. Does anyone have a ‘spirited’ animal they are worried about with the baby?

• I had an appointment last week and my csection is scheduled for July 17th! I don't have much interesting to update with though from the weekend. My husband bought me a nice glider for the nursery :) I couldn't stand the thought of using my old wooden glider again, so I'm pretty happy about that!
• Man 37 weeks today, I can't believe it!

Our BBQ went great yesterday. Everyone was surprised we were hosting and I definitely had moments of "why did I do this" while setting up haha... But we did pot luck and only with closest friends. We had a small group of 5-6 families so it turned out great. Was a beautiful day. Kinda a last hurrah hosting before baby. We'll prob have our next BBQ with company for Labor Day!

I'm getting pretty good but sleep is still tough and my feet and hands are constantly swollen now, even in the AM.

My DS was a full week early so I'm curious when this little lady will make her entrance!
• **lurking from 2nd tri**

@jr102217 I got myself a brace to sleep in overnight, and I haven't had my hand/arm fall asleep since, plus the carpal tunnel pain during the day is sooo much better. Highly recommend. ;)

@TravelingCouple omg getting so close!!! :D

Everyone is getting so close. We’re about to have a baby boom here :)

I’m doing ok, 32 weeks and happy to be closer every week. I have an OB appt Thursday but not much gets done there. High risk visit and ultrasound to make plans for delivery is next Tuesday so that’s what I’m really waiting on.
DH helped me do some nursery decorations this week so that was exciting. We still have no furniture in there though because he insists on waiting after the baby shower to buy anything. He did surprise me by buying our travel system so at least baby has a car seat.

@TravelingCouple hats off to you. My DH loves hosting parties and I put a hold on that months ago. I just don’t have the energy for it now. You are so close, baby will be here any day now!

@laurad75 welcome to third tri! So happy baby boy is doing well and only one kidney is affected
• @BusinessWife yes thanks!! I didn't think about a brace until two nights ago. Luckily, I had one from when I sprained my hand several years ago, so it's helped the past 2 nights, but I've been clicking away on my laptop for work this afternoon and it's starting to hurt. It also made me think of how I'd sleep with my hands underneath the pillows and that's a big no-no, now that I know!

@TravelingCouple you're definitely a trooper for hosting but that sounds like a lot of fun!

I'm curious - do some of you have a separate OB and MFM/high risk dr? I only have one as my MFM office has my OB team. It's connected to a teaching hospital so I've seen a mix of fellows and a nurse practitioner.
• @coco305 @safire3 very interesting u ladies already have ur birth plans. I really discussed mine recently at like 37weeks and really will be double checking it tomorrow at 39 weeks guess I really procrastinate on everything :D however that's cause I feel like this kid wants to hang out in here all year!!

@coco305 so I got some fried fruit and nuts, protein/granola bars, chips and box of cereal. This way I'll also be prepared when my niece and nephews need a snack while visiting! :) and all I look for r labor signs! I have sooo much pressure in my lower abdomen and have pain but I always say it's gas. I think this kid is just chilling!!

Im sorry to all that have to be pregnant through the summer the heat killed me the other day omg!! I'm so disappointed we didn't get to enjoy a spring at all booooooo!!!

@irisheyes81 I have a very furry kitty cat that I'm so worried about! She's a terror but the sweetest when she wants to be. I'm praying my baby won't be allergic as her long hair gets every where no matter what u do! I've had animals all my life and this ones hair does bother me at times so I'm worried!!

@jr102217 so glad u had a good session and
could relax u deserve those moments! I'm sorry for GD i was very stressed I would have that and the few I know I see it's not easy!! Hang in there! My friend mentioned taking even just a short walk helps lower her numbers.
I have a separate OB and MFM not that it makes a difference I think I might've preferred one stop shopping then having to different offices to travel to every week!

@safire3 so interesting ur MFM is making your plan my OB is doing mine. MFM went over the different risks with me.

@TravelingCouple still can't believe u hosted the BBQ knowing u really could go Amy time especially if you went early with ur first! Hoping you're not too swollen keep in eye on that for sure!!

@Aera11 so close u r it's surreal I'm still in disbelief! I'm still looking at my bag which has things in it finally BUT I'm sure I've left things out!

AFM: I'm 39 weeks, I can't believe it still!! Baby is looking good but MFM thinks baby is ready to come on out so it's looking like im probably going to get induced. Heading to my OB tomorrow so shall know more then. Due to my age and ivf they don't want me going past 40wks and I think this kid has no problem staying in past that....crazy to think this might be happening any moment. The pressure is so intense in my abdomen every time I stand I think my water is going to break...it's crazy!!

• @Hopeful_mom yeah I keep asking the OB and they say it's a normal amount of swelling. Just a pain that it never goes down now. Even with DH massaging my feet and sleeping overnight.

I'm not sure why mosquitoes are on this planet... Was up last night itching 11 bites all over my feet! I hope those blood suckers are extinct some day. They're worse than bees. At least bees serve a purpose
• @TravelingCouple get an off personal fan for bug repellent. You don't have to spray anything on you, it just puts it around you. And yes, it's safe to use while pregnant, my OB was fine with it. You can't smell or see any of the repellent.

For those worried about dogs with babies, there are a few things you can do to help get them used to the idea. We got a baby doll that cried and made random noises. Then carried it around and introduced it to our dog, got him used to the random crying and used to not jumping when we had the doll. Even put the doll in the crib to practice naps/sleeping. Once she was born, DH brought home the very first blanket she was swaddled in to get him used to her smell. He still got nervous when she cried the first few weeks, but quickly adapted.

We did the blanket trick as well. We'd bring home blankets the baby was using in the hospital and let the dogs sleep with them. I also played all the noise making baby toys we received for the dogs a few times so they could get used to them.

I've found, with my dogs at least, that as long as they still get some love and attention they are fine with the baby around.
• @aera11 I’m glad we aren’t the only ones that can’t seem to decide on a name. I always seem to find something wrong with all of them. For the ones I really like they are too popular, or someone’s cousin’s sister’s niece has that name. I just don’t know where to draw the line for association of names. OMG just scrolling down while catching up on comments your maternity photo is BEAUTIFUL!!!

@irisheyes81 our dog has been ok with kids when they have been around but she can get way over excited and run around which can easily knock a baby over or scratch them up by catapulting off them. Seriously she can be a bit too energetic. We already have a few baby gates to restrict her but are adding some extra’s that I figure we would add anyway for when the baby starts walking. I think we will just keep things supervised, and bring in a trainer if we have to. If you pup has problems with food/toy possessiveness or you think she might get aggressive with a baby I would start with a trainer before baby is born. Other tips people have given me is start washing the dogs bed/toys in the same soap you will use for the baby, and when at the hospital wrap the baby in a swaddle and then send that swaddle home before you go there for the dog to sniff and get used to.

@cseley321how surreal to know the day you will meet your little one J so happy for you!!! I hope you enjoy your new glider.

@jr102217 haha we have nixd several baby names we love because our friends/family have had dogs with those names. I’m starting to think the real disadvantage of AMA is that everyone has kids and has taken all the good names! Glad that things are going well for you and the GD is more or less staying under control. I did a sugar free diet before and it is mindboggling how much sugar is hidden out there in places you wouldn’t expect!

@travelingcouple so impressed you pulled out a BBQ at this stage but it sounds like you had a great time. If no one is able to take over starting the weekly feed for a while since I have quite a ways to go not sure if anyone already volunteered to take over.

@safire3 wow next Tuesday!!! That’s so close. Congrats on getting your travel system. I have been horrible at waiting for the baby shower to buy anything. I also feel bad putting too much expensive stuff on there. In retrospect I should have scheduled the shower for earlier. It’s 4wks before the due date and I’m a little worried I’ll have to do a mad dash of buying to be prepared.

@coco305 yep I’m a Midwest gal. I grew up in the burbs, then lived in MN for school/work in my late teens/early 20s then moved back actual Chicago “proper” and have been here ever since. I don’t think I could call anyplace else home. Though I do have dreams of grandeur to buy a summer condo someplace warm to winter in when I retire. Team Green does add complication for the names you have to think of twice as many!

@hopeful_mom fingers crossed for a smooth induction. Are they planning on just going ahead at 40wks or are they going to have you do a non-stress test.

• **still lurking**

@2MomsHoping fwiw, I would try not to worry too much about names already used by various so-and-sos (or their pets! :D ) I have had the same conversation with H... once upon a time, there were so many fewer names people really used, and nobody thought twice about using the same name of a friend's, neighbour's, acquaintance's kid. Think how many Mike's, Bill's, Susan's, Anne's, Mary's etc. So I mean now they may be trendier names, but there are still SO many more of them overall. So there's still far fewer babies named the top name for 2018 than there were the top name in like, 1950. Kwim? So even if they do end up having another Jackson or another Madison or whatever in their class, so what? Used to be there might be like, six Mary's, ammiriggt? Lol
• Beautiful @Aera11!!!

@coco305 I’m kinda hoping I will be scheduled for c/s too. Definitely helps my anxiety to have a definite plan. My shower is scheduled for next week on the 9th.

@Hopeful_mom I am so excited for you! Baby will be here any day now. I think the reason my MFM is the one planning is because my possible c/s would be for placenta previa and they are the ones monitoring that with repeat ultrasounds. I haven’t done any ultrasounds with my OB so they don’t see where my placenta is, they just rely on the report from the MFM.

@Aera11 absolutely beautiful!

@2MomsHoping at my shower I will be almost 34 weeks and I feel that is too late as well. There will be so much to do/get after that and I get more sluggish every day. I hated putting expensive things on the registry as well, I felt like we should just buy that stuff ouselves but DH insisted and I’m glad I did. We will still have to buy most of them ourselves but close family did buy some of the expensive stuff which helps a lot. My mom just bought our crib which I’m super excited to finally get because it will make the nursery look like a nursery.

@Aera11 stunning!! Y didn't u do this sooner so I would've got my ass going to do one :)

@safire3 makes perfect sense! My OB still does an US checking the HB but also likes to check fluids, positions etc, which I love so I got to see my babe more!!

(We went to bed early tonight and of course I woke up ~2:30 and haven't been able to fall back asleep. I kept thinking of a list of hospital bag items that I can't quite pack yet, e.g. chargers, that DH or I will have to add at the last minute.)

@Hopeful_mom
good luck! you'll be holding your little one before you know it :D:D

My cervix was pretty much closed (1 cm dilated) when they started the induction process. 12 frickin' hours on the medicine that's supposed to soften and open it....no progress and the most horrid 12 hours of my life between that and the magnesium drip I was on. They asked me after 12 hours if I wanted to keep trying (I don't know if they would have gone to pitocin or do another of the cervix softener for 12 hours). I said no, my doctor was fine with that, and she was born about 2 hours later by c-section! I was more concerned with the stress of putting her thru more procedures to try to push her out than anything else.

@businesswife your name points are very valid about the top names not having as much duplication as they used to. I’m just still hesitant to use anything in the top 100 I just don’t want my baby to “share” a name with anyone though I think it may be time for me take a step back from my crazy on that one. I really like my own unpopular name and have never had to share it with anyone at work or at school, which for me more than makes up for never being able to buy a key chain with my name on it…besides my LO will not suffer from lack of name customization with my love of Etsy!

@safire3 the registry thing definitely is plaguing me I feel like a snob. I am one of those people who is a bit of a minimalist but when I do buy something I don’t skimp on the expense and I make sure it is something that is going to LAST me and hopefully serve multiple purposes. For instance I rather have the ‘overpriced’ bottles but instead of buying them in two sizes I just want the bigger size and I’ll fill them only half way. Too much “stuff” makes me crazy so I’m trying to keep DW from going overboard. Basically our registry is a handful of big ticket items and a ton of <$25 items (mostly disposables, baby medicines, diapers, wipes, soaps/shampoos/sunscreens). I talked to some of my mom friends about my registry concerns and they said not to feel bad about registering for the big stuff and as long as you have plenty of things that are affordable as well. I admit I was tempted to put less expensive options of what I want with intent of returning and buying what I actually want with my fulfillment discount but that just seemed even worse so I’m just going with it.

Question for the group about paint fumes. We are planning on painting the nursery this weekend. I was just going to have the windows open with the fan going and wearing a mask and helping out but now I’m getting paranoid. I feel bad sticking DW with the job alone.

• @2MomsHoping my inlawsi/DH painted the hallway earlier this month and it wasn't so bad. Get a low-VOC paint and a fan. I also wore a mask if it started bothering me and walked outside to get some fresh air.
• Thanks ladies!!

This baby does not want to come out!! The pain was excruciating until I got the epidural. Crying from the pain it was insane!! I can't believe the difference the drugs made I wish they would've given them to me sooner.
Then I finally got some sleep here and there. I'm only 1cm dilated so frustrated with that and now waiting to hear what's next!!

@mbradfo2 YES!! I'm with u, I say c section another 12hrs for literally a cm I don't kno. They checked my cervix during a contraction as they were so frequent with no drugs i practically flew off the table!!

Not to scare anyone but the pain was outrageous and I was like cut this kid out of me! They waited too long with the epi asit made a world of difference. And it's harder when ur in such pain to stay still for it. I will say I'm super itchy from it and tingling but it's worth it. I can't wait to meet this LO! Of course it's worth it but no movement is no fun.

hoping I have more to report sooner then later :)
