2nd Trimester - *Not Feeling Pregnant*

So as we're all creeping into the 2nd Trimester, I have to ask, with the first having all kinds of crazy symptoms, does anyone else feel "weird" going back to "normal"? I suddenly have my normal energy back and food doesn't turn me off anymore. All good stuff. However now I don't "feel pregnant" anymore. Is that weird??? Anyone else?? It worries me at times. I'm dyyyying to feel some movement in there to remind me that it's still happening...

  • You may want to update the title of this thread. I thought it meant you were no longer pregnant, and I was scared for you.
I understand what you mean; it's very strange starting to feel normal again after having a couple months of feeling gross and tired. But soon you should start to feel movement, and your belly will start to grow soon, so all those things are good signs that everything is progressing and going well.
It can be hard waiting those 4 weeks between appointments to hear the heartbeat, but perhaps you can find something to focus on to take your mind off of things for a little while.

  • I think it’s totally normal to be anxious. It’s also completely normal to start feeling great and symptom free during the second trimester. You’ll probably get some new symptoms soon like heartburn, constipation, nosebleeds, insomnia, swollen feet, increased sex drive or others to keep you occupied. The anxiety may not go away, unfortunately, you just find new things to worry about. Try and enjoy the good days when you get them. Remind yourself that having made it this far, the odds are overwhelmingly in your favor of it continuing just fine.

I agree with neverland that that the title of the post could probably be better.

Thanks ladies. I updated the title. Didn't mean to scare anyone! Sorry bout that!

I appreciate the encouragement. I will try to focus on the positives of feeling good and back to "normal." Fingers crossed on feeling those movements early!

  • I actually haven't felt pregnant at all this entire time. Makes it hard to believe there's a baby in there. I can't wait to start feeling him move and get a bump.
  • @kbyahn - I felt the same. When I went to my last Dr appointment I told him I needed to check and make sure I am still pregnant. Then I heard the heart beat a little bit and I felt a little better.

Thanks for the encouragement from all the other ladies!

  • I just had this conversation with my best friend (who has 2 kiddos) yesterday. Every time my symptoms subside I get a little nervous that I'm not really pregnant anymore. I'm sure it's fine (and she assured me it's totally normal), but I'm REALLY looking forward to my sono/OB appointment on Friday. My last appointment was May 1.

  • YES!  I'm definitely there with you--suddenly I have some energy and I'm not feeling as bloated or having to pee as much, and it makes me nervous.  But the baby sizer thing keeps me grounded--baby is the size of a cinnamon roll (or whatever), which is so much bigger than the poppyseed she started out as!  And in a few weeks we'll start feeling movement, which will be SUPER exciting.  :)

I totally hear you! I am still feeling symptoms, but they can all be explained away (gaining weight but eating a million bagels a day, exhausted but my idiot cat wakes me up every hour, etc..)- I am 15 weeks tomorrow and have had healthy ultrasounds but STILL get nervous to tell people I'm pregnant-- I'm sure I will feel this way until I feel them move or have an actual "bump" (not just a belly with bloat )

@bkosy oh thank goodness I'm not alone! misery loves company :) That cat is on my shit list now..
  • @skesek that must have been a tough journey, and understandable that you’d be anxious to know all is well. glad that you’re here with us!
  • Except with my DD1 who had me nauseated the entire pregnancy, I have felt the fear of not feeling pregnant my other 3 pregnancies once 2nd tri hits and the symptoms subside. This morning I had my 16 week appointment and I felt so anxious to hear that precious heartbeat, but like others have said, try to relax and enjoy this symptom free time as much as you can. It's pretty short lived and only a matter of a few weeks before you start feeling your baby moving in there. This is  a great time to get projects done and other things which you might not have the energy to do as pregnancy progresses.

  • The title is completely fine. She clearly stated "not FEELING pregnant"...it is a thing you know. I'm going through it as well
  • I don't think I realized just how worried I was about it. I had a sono on Friday and I felt a weight lift off of my shoulders when I heard both babies' heartbeats. It actually took the tech a few minutes to go from Baby A to Baby B and I don't think I breathed at all during that time. I couldn't bring myself to look at her face to try to read it because I was so worried she was going to give me bad news. When she finally did let me hear the 2nd heartbeat, I teared up a little bit - which is weird for me because, even with being pregnant, I'm not an overly emotional person. Thank God they are both doing well

@fancifemarie - You clearly didn't read the thread very carefully or you would have seen that OP updated the title. She wasn't offended by the replies she was given, so I'm not sure why you seem to be.
