I have a gross one. Due to a comedy of errors in the daycare parking lot this morning, I accidentally picked up a baby turd with my bare hand off the pavement. It belonged to my own baby, at least. Barf barf barf.

It’s Friday. Starting a long weekend without a care in the world until Tuesday when I whisper “s**t, I have so much work to do.” Until then, what work?
I think it's major AWish when people only participate to show U/S pics or comment about themselves and offer no participation, support and advice anywhere else.
I blew off most of work today to trade in my car for a new (to me) truck. It's a holiday weekend and I work for the government so it's a ghost town anyway.
catlady2015 a 2014 Dodge Ram. I was originally shopping for a Jeep but DH wanted a truck so that next summer we can get a camper (doesn't wanna take a tiny baby in a tent) so we started looking at trucks. I went in to test drive three and they actually gave me exactly what I wanted for trade in and price so we walked out with one. I'm guessing because it was the end of the month and a holiday weekend, they just wanted to make the deal and go home, lol.
I told everyone at work I had to leave early to catch a flight.... my flight isn’t until 9:40PM and it takes about 20 minutes to get there from my condo. Definitely needed a 7 hour head start

I have a 2013 Ram and I love it! I'm glad you got a great deal!
I'm sitting in my cubicle at work being annoyed with everyone. All my cubicle neighbors are eating all the crackers, and I'm checked for the week. I even had yesterday off. But IDGAF
I’m in the car headed to FILs house and it’s the last place I want to be this weekend. I’m trying to be a good sport cuz DH is excited to see family and friends, but I’m just exhausted and I want to sleep all weekend and not worry about hiding a pregnancy.
@mrsmang - I'm so sorry! Can DH run interference for you (say allergies acting up, or something of that ilk) to get you a few hours to yourself to rest each day while you're there without arousing suspicion?
@catlady2015 that’s the plan! We have to chat about specifics. I’m about to try to nap in the car now too, maybe I’ll feel better if I’m not so tired and cranky after a day at work.
I absolutely refuse to mutilate a steak by cooking it to well done, regardless of what the pregnancy "rules" say. I understand why ground beef needs to be cooked thoroughly. However, I've yet to see any rational, science-based explanation of a real risk of food contamination in the middle of a solid cut of steak, as long as the outside has a good hot sear. I've compromised with medium for now, but I'm not convinced even that is necessary.
Fortunately we're telling my family this weekend, and my brother is a microbiologist. Can't wait to ask him for his opinion on some of these ridiculous food "rules."
@sweetyjenj I worked at Subway during my first pregnancy. I was so disappointed when my OB told me I couldn't eat any of the deli meats. The first meal I had after having DS was a turkey sandwich at the hospital. It was the best thing I've ever eaten. Seriously.
@sweetyjenj One Subway sandwich won’t kill you. I had a deli sandwich at work the other day. My OB told me lunch meat is fine it’s packaged from the grocery store.
@mrsmang I’ve been there before. We live 4 hours from DH’s family so he doesn’t get to see them very often. The trip is always a long one especially with a 3 year old. Hang in there!
Deli sandwiches were definitely the thing I craved my last pregnancy. I attempted to avoid them, but I definitely had my fair share. I'm currently listening to the book "Expecting Better" by Emily Oster. She is an economist who scoured all the research studies pregnancy rules are based on and breaks them down in order to see how recommendations were made. Some recommendations were made on some pretty flawed studies. She lays out all the information so you, as a grown adult can make decisions based on having all the info as opposed to blindly following all the blanket recommendations that are not even consistent from doctor to doctor. I'm really enjoying the book.
I’m so sick of the deli meat debate. The risk is listeria which is more likely spread through fresh fruits and veggies. No one is going to stop eating their salads and berries.
@sparkymcgeee I wondered about that. My OB said I shouldn't have the deli meats, but said nothing about all the veggies we served at Subway - veggies that come "pre-washed" and are handled by the same workers who touch the deli meat.
I’ve also had a past OB tell me not to have soft serve ice cream during pregnancy because listeria has a small risk of growing in the machine if it’s not cleaned well. I’m not a fan of the pregnancy bubble and definitely think adjustments can be made!
I wasn’t good about following the pregnancy dietary restrictions last time. I ate a lot of medium rare steak. And then some frozen veggies we bought and had already eaten were recalled for listeria concerns.
