Re: Appointments and Updates 5/20-5/26

  • I'm so sorry @mother_of_cats having a positive NT sucks, especially when your doctor is so certain there's something amiss.

My understanding is that NIPT is useful to figure out if you're in the 3-5% who got a false positive on the NT scan because CVS does have a small chance of miscarriage.  It's better to do a more accurate screen which gives most people the all clear than have everyone with a positive do the more invasive CVS.  If you're certain youre doing the CVS, there's no real reason to do the NIPT too.

  • @mother_of_cats I am so so sorry you got bad news from the NT Scan. I would be shocked if the insurance company didn’t cover the test, but it’s a screening, not diagnostic. I think the CVS will give a more thorough result. I hope you find answers soon.

  • @mother_of_cats I am so sorry that you are going through this. No advice here but wanted to let you know I will be thinking of you.
  • @mother_of_cats I'm so sorry you got not so great news. Thinking of you and looking forward to an update.
