IUI- trigger shot vs LH monitoring at home

we just did a natural IUI. On my CD12 ultrasound, my (one) follicle was 20mm (from 14mm 2 days ago) and endometrial lining 10mm. They had me trigger that night. I wasn’t LH surging on my own yet, which didn’t surprise me; I never get a +OPK until CD15. Do you think doing the trigger shot hurt our chances bc maybe my body wasn’t surging bc it didn’t consider the egg “mature”? My estrogen was 250 and lining really thick and follicle mature sized as I said. OR, is it possible I’m O’ing “too late” on my own and the egg is OVER-mature by then, hurting my chances that way? Basically just trying to decide whether or not to trigger next month if this cycle is BFN :)

Re: IUI- trigger shot vs LH monitoring at home

  • since most REs consider 18mm mature, i think it made sense to trigger at 20 mm for the reason you suggest -- getting over mature.  if you also had a thick lining, that seems like good evidence to me to trigger. esp since the follicle typtically keeps growing between trigger and IUI.

    fx for you.
