My boobs are producing enough for my son to nurse again, and in the last week or two they've exploded in size and gotten sore. Yeah, he'll be 2 in two weeks, and dry nursed for a while, and is now getting just a touch from me again. It's...sore, but I love the snuggles.
I hit the painful hips months ago (thanks messed up pelvis!) and now it's about 3 weeks since I got the seriously pregnant everything hurts thing. Now in the last week my rib stretching discomfort is pretty much full time if I sit, but my feet and back and pelvis hate when I stand or walk too much, lol. But, I've only got three months to go, so I can do this! (that's my attempt at pep talking myself).
I definitely recommend a support belt for anytime you're going to be on your feet most of the time, also it helps to hold up your pants, so that's a plus.
I have the older version of this from last time-mine lacks the breathable part, but mine works great, I'm assuming this does and is more comfy (it's the gabrialla). Thanks ladies! I'll look up some of these bands! I feel 10 times better today because baby decided to crawl up a little bit I swear it felt like he was gonna drop out yesterday... ugh...
What are some questions to ask when meeting a pediatrician for the first time? At my OB appt last week, she mentioned that it would be good to look into one before my next OB appt. Several have been recommended to me. I just have no clue as to what to say. I thought there was a post about this several months back, but can't find it.
@smsaulino a couple things that crossed my mind: What are the MD's views on vaccinating? (If this is important to you one way or another) What percentage of kids are vaccinated/unvaccinated that come here? (Again, if that matters to you) How are sick visits handled? How long does it take to make an appointment for a sick visit? What's a typical wait time for a well check?
@smsaulino also ask about office hours, after hours call line, etc. Ours has a 24 hr nurse hotline and sick appointments on Saturdays. Their peds also work part time at a kid centric after hours urgent care. I really appreciate being able to call and talk to someone on DS care team for support or questions rather than a stranger at an urgent care or waiting until the next morning. If you have any friends with littles, ask about their peds. Or search for old discussions on nextdoor etc.
@spottedginger agreed. My office has an after hours answering service and any time I've ever called with a question or concern, my sons pediatrician personally calls us and discusses what our next steps should be. I feel like I shouldn't even say this but we have yet to go to an urgent care (**knocking on ALL the wood**).
@smsaulino The most important question is also if they are accepting new patients! We were limited to one pedi in our local area because a few had recently left. Luckily, we absolutely love him, and he will take on the new LO as well, which will mean combined appointments, which is huge for us as both FT working parents. I agree to ask about how after hours issues are handled, and also what hospital(s) they have admitting privileges to (if that matters to you) in case DD ever needs hospitalized.
@smsaulino In addition to asking questions of the ped, if you have a local moms Facebook group, try asking there. Questions about doctors come up on mine all the time, and other moms who have personal experience tend to be very honest and knowledgable.
@lilidubs I have the Gabriella one from Amazon and like it, it isn't the most comfortable but helps my back when I am on my feet/working out. I also just got the support tank from Blanqi and it is pretty great. It is hot, so I see myself wearing it more when I can ensure I will be in AC. I got it for 50% off on their website, I feel like they might regularly run sales/promo codes or if not, I think I have a 25% off coupon.
@stothi "kicked by a donkey in the ass", /ded! That is also just so freaking accurate.
@nackie Maybe try sitting on one of those donut shaped pillows? It'll help take some of the pressure off. I've got nothing in terms of stretches or exercises.
@EErin86 it definitely feels like it’s tight muscles pulling, but it’s all the time not just when I’m moving. One of my yoga instructors had a stretch she had me do last week that helped a ton, but I can’t remember how to replicate it now and I can’t make it back to her class for another 3 weeks
@nackie go see a chiropractor! Seriously. Until you can get in, most abductor (outside hip) stretches should help. So sitting with one leg crossed over your knee (figure 4 stretch) or do the same stretch on your back pulling your thigh towards you. Cat/cow and down dog. There are two ligaments that keep your pelvis stable, called the sacraltuberous ligaments. Sounds gross, but if you can get a good angle you can push in on your butt cheeks and see if the inner portion is tender, which will tell you if it is that. Google to see the image. And sorry to say, but tailbone pain isn’t fixed by the doughnut! It actually puts yournpelvic floor into a position of greater pressure. Sorry for the long winded answer but I feel like a pelvic floor pro these days.
@Redpuma119 so I actually have a question about finding a good chiropractor. I’ve never been even though my back is all jacked up. But I’ve heard horror stories of bad ones makings things worse especially during pregnancy. So, what do I look for when picking one?
@nackie I agree with @redpuma119 about getting a recommendation from your OB. There definitely are some scammy chiropractors out there. Another option is to do pregnancy physical therapy. A plus to PT is that they'll give you exercises to do at home, too.
Hey mamas - I’be been MIA, but my house has been hit by plague, after plague! My husband is currently down for the count. Ugh!!
I do have a TMI question though: anyone else with extra moisture down below? I remember having discharge, but I don’t remember it starting this early (25 weeks) but it’s not a detail i remember fondly, so I may have blocked it out.
@MrsBigTime Yes! Me too definitely. I’ve had extra discharge all pregnancy long (it was actually my first clue that I might be pregnant). But the past few days there has been even more. Clear and watery. I’ve read that this is totally normal. But I’m with you at 23+5.
@MrsBigTime both of my pregnancies have equaled instant swamp crotch. All sweat. All discharge. All damn day. It's freaking gross. I change my undies like 6 times a day cause I just can't deal. So. Frickin. Gross.
TMI- at my 6 week postpartum check up the random nurse lady who was checking my cervix noticed a wet spot where I was sitting and asked if I was leaking urine. Nope. Sweat and freaking discharge and more sweat. Apparently enough to leave a puddle. Cause that's not gross...
@MrsBigTime I have also had lots of discharge. I read in a book to expect it, and that it's totally normal as long as it's white or clear and doesn't have a strong odor (which could indicate infection). I think it has to do with the increased blood supply in the 2nd trimester. Oh, and I think the book said it will continue to increase through the end of pregnancy
Extra discharge was symptom number 2 for me, started days after the positive sign. Slowly been increasing, and with hotter weather there's a ton of extra sweat too.

@iba34 I'm under the impression (not a doc so I could be wrong) that the extra discharge is like you said from the extra blood flow and then a little from your body working to keep the cervix plugged up and vagina flushed out so nothing is getting up into the uterus. Kinda like a snotty nose trying to keep germs and pollens and whatnot out of the sinuses. Isn't that a sexy analogy, lol?
But yeah, like you and the others said, totally normal, just real annoying.
+1 to the swamp crotch. So much sweat and discharge, I go through at least 2 pairs of underwear a day. @stothi I've totally had the same thing happen to me before at my OBs office haha. So gross yet if they didn't make me wait so damn long it may be a non issue.
@nlc8424 I hadn’t thought of that but I will look online for support belts! I guess I had seen them and thought, oh, well my belly isn’t that big yet. But first of all, IT IS. Lol. Thanks!
@klj0228 thanks. Yes, my plan is to drink a ton and get up and walk regularly. That’s what I do now at work. I have a 22oz tumbler that I refill like hourly, and I walk to the bathroom every ten minutes or so haha. I haven’t had any swelling yet (knock on wood) but I’ll take my rings off for flight just in case.
Just logged on and realized my comment from days ago never posted and was sitting in the box lol. So here it is.
@ashh2018 I can’t remember when you said you are traveling. But I wanted to share that compression socks really helped me when we flew a few weeks ago. I’m flying again next week and plan to wear them again! My feet usually swell on planes (when not pregnant) so I didn’t want to take any chances.
