Re: Randoms - Week of 5/14

  • I check this website every morning... It gives you your odds of not having a miscarriage based on whatever info you want to put in. I know its not for everyone, but it calms me so i thought i would share.

Such a busy past week or so that I actually keep forgetting I'm pregnant. Which is nice and gives me a chance to not worry.

I hope everyone has a good week!

Holy cow. I just got a new job about two months ago. Before that I worked an hour from home for 4.5 years (2 hour drive in the AM because I took DD to the sitter). Hopefully this next month goes by quickly.

It made for long days. I had gotten so used to it though and luckily had an easy drive, long but easy. I am so glad to be closer now.

Are you getting a different job or transferring to be closer to the new house?

  • @oaklandava @emmaaa Add me to the list of long commutes! I’m an hour both ways. Thankfully I leave early enough in the morning that traffic isn’t a huge issue. The afternoon can be a bit worse but isn’t terrible unless I have to stay late for a meeting. I listen to tons of podcasts and books!

  • I’m having a pity party for myself right now that I have to sit in a classroom for three hours tonight after nine hours of work. I’m exhausted. I want my couch and my sweatpants!!!
  • Unisom is the bomb! I took a dose last night, got a great night’s sleep, and woke up hungry but not nauseous!

  • I have ugly slept on my commute the entire week. Thank god hubs drives (we work in the same school) because I mean, I've been open mouth, knocked tf out all week. Then, I've gotten home in the evenings and passed tf out again. AND this week feels like it's taking years to end, doesn't it?

I had my phone in take appointment yesterday (which took 5 seconds wince it was the same office I went to for DD) and they scheduled my first OB prenatal appoint for May 30. I was hoping it'd be a little sooner but oh well. Also, they asked me if I wanted a midwife or OB and I said OB but called back and asked if I could see a midwife for the following appointment to get more information and to see which is a better fit for me. They also scheduled an ultrasound for June 10 (I think) and I'm confused on why it is separate. Last time, I had a vaginal ultrasound at my first appointment (7w4d). SO I'm going to ask what the one at 9/10 weeks is for. Maybe that's how they do it now. Or maybe they want to do an extra ultrasound before the A/S to make more money. Who knows but I am going to ask

  • I started singing "how much is that doggy in the window?" Song this morning.  Now it's stuck in both our heads but we only know it up to the "with the waggily tail" line so H has been making up lyrics morning, cracking me up.  It's been a nice distraction so far
  • I need to fast forward about 5 weeks. That would be great.

  • Y’all. I’m chowing down bacon cheeseburger from Five Guys right now and it tastes amazingggg. Late lunch in between meetings. If I start feeling sick bc of cheeseburgers, I will be very sad for the next several months. That is all.
  • @AliKay20 - mmmmmmm, five guys! a cheeseburger sounds ah-mazing right now!

  • What is everyone going to do for genetic testing?
    NIPT VS NT?

I was convinced I was going to do the NT but now reading I'm learning towards the NIPT

@galactickates My OB practice does both (though most will say if you get the NIPT there’s no reason for the NT - NIPT is more sensitive and accurate). With DD I had my NIPT and NT blood draw in week 11, NT scan in week 12 (the tech was able to tell me that the combined bloodwork and scan were normal), and saw my OB to discuss in week 13! NIPT is supposed to be much more accurate.

  • @galactickates with DD I did the NIPT. I loved knowing that baby was ok and it was a girl around 11w. I did the test at 10w and it took about a week for results. I can't remember which company it was- I know it wasnt materniti21. It starts with a P. Of course insurance didn't pay for it and I had to pay $500. They had a " Peace of mind" program that lowered the cost. I want to do it again but I have slightly different insurance this time so I need to figure out how much I would be responsible for. I did order the sneak peek test ( the at home kit)  so maybe I'll just to that and the NT scan at 12w.

@gorgeousariel Was it Panorama? I have several friends who did that one.

  • Taking bets on when he will be parodied on SNL

  • @emmaaa yes I think that was it! I saw someone on another board did Counsyl. Have you heard of that?
  • @gorgeousariel I’ve never heard of counsyl. I also had panarama last time and will do the same one again if I get to that point.

I spent the morning cleaning and doing laundry. It’s now 9:30 and I genuinely feel like I NEED a nap. But H and I have our nephews’ baptism today. Which means what I really need to do is get my lazy butt in the shower and get ready so that when DD wakes up from her nap we can get her ready and go.

  • I haven't really been able to exercise in months.  Between IVF and early pregnancy symptoms, I've just been too uncomfortable (and paranoid about ovarian torsion). I went to the gym yesterday to try to ease back into an exercise routine. I thought I was taking it easy to start - just half an hour on a fairly light setting on the ArcTrainer and a few minutes of walking on the treadmill to cool down.  Apparently it wasn't light enough, as my hips are killing me this morning.

  • emmaaaemmaaa member
@gorgeousariel I haven't heard of it. I didn't do the genetic testing but friends who had used Panorama seemed pleased. One girl did it with both pregnancies
