Help! Our baby shower is out of state

My baby shower will be in my home state where all of my friends and family live. We are trying to figure out how to let people that plan to bring a gift know to ship it rather than bring it to the shower. I won't be able to ship anything large and the two states are much to far to drive between. 

I feel really strange/tacky mentioning anything about gifts. I feel uncomfortable registering (asking) for gifts in the first place! (I know is silly.) 

A message on the front page of the registry? An insert with the invites? I'm just not sure!

Ya don't. 

Your guests will probably be smart enough to realize that you'll have limited transportation options for gifts. If they don't, just return large items that won't fit and repurchase them once you are home.

Like PP said, the people that would be going to your baby shower are hopefully close enough to you to realize you would need to fly home and give appropriate gifts. Maybe mention to the person throwing you your shower that this is something you're concerned about and she can run intereference on this for you. Or you buy a big postage box and have it shipped home.
