@PensiveCrayon I felt like that on Saturday. I was in such a bitchy mood.

@texas_t hope you have an awesome trip!
I’m afraid our Miami trip / cruise this week is going to suck. We booked it before we found out I’m pregnant and I’m afraid I’m just going to be feeling so crappy and it’s going to stink.

  • @PensiveCrayon and @katem987 This was me on friday night. We had been hosting friends for 5 days and i was just over. it. It was amazing what a good mood i found myself in saturday and sunday when i had my house back.

@texas_t So much excitement! i'm in the same boat- our next appt and US is the 25th and then we leave for colorado on the 28! Can it be time yet?!?!?
  • @PensiveCrayon I feel that way, mostly because my insides are so angry. First tri blows, y'all. You fell bad, but nobody knows why.

@texas_t I'm counting down to my n/t on 5/31, just to get another peak at the baby. Plus they're so cute on the n/t scans, looking like little itty bitty babies. My next OB appointment isn't until 6/7 (my last one was 5/31 O_O sooooo looooong)

  • Also, I've resorted to the hair-tie trick on my pants today. I wore maternity pants all weekend, but they legit make me look pregnant and I can't have that at work. It feels SOOOOO good to be able to breathe, you guys.

  • @runrinserepeat I feel you on the pants issue. I am wearing a dress today for that very thing - one that is flowy around my waist. I tried wearing spanx under it, but the tightness of the spanx made me almost queasy. As soon as I took them off and could breathe again, I was much better.

  • @runrinserepeat I was just talking to h this weekend about how I have all these feelings (physical and emotional) and I can’t (I chose not to) tell anyome about them. There is so much going on in our bodies right now, but it’s things others can’t see. I mean I guess they can see bloat, or tell I have a terrible headache, but instead of saying yes, I’m pregnant I’m trying to hide everything. im not being clear, but you all know what I mean....
  • @Activebaby I feel especially bad when I'm hanging out with my SIL who's 6 months pregnant. Like, I know she probably feels crabby and whiny, too, and she doesn't know I'm KU so any complaining by me is going to seem SO ridiculous to her. So I put on a happy face all yesterday afternoon while the kids played at their house, and thanked the lord when dinner together didn't work out because I needed to go home and just be my miserable self.

  • I ate Lucky Charms for breakfast today and it was glorious. However, it reminded me of when my mil tried to get me to swear I would never give my daughter lucky charms right after she was born. I looked at her like she was crazy and said no, I’m not promising that. Then she tried to make me promise never to get a dog! Oy. I’m glad this is my second kid because I think she kind of understands my boundaries now.

  • @rosebud332 I ate lucky charms too! I stole my kids cereal because it was in one of those small packs and it was easy to carry!

@Activebaby I know what you mean... I feel weird both physically and mentally, and it´s so hard to explain to my friends or my husband why I’m a bit quiet! I feel like when I was a teenager and just wanted to stay alone in my room

@katem987 solidarity! We have a trip coming up and I'm in the same boat. It was intended to be a "we have to put trying on hold so lets go have some fun in the sun for a week!" and now I'm pregnant. I'm not a huge drinker so that's not a big issue but I'm so afraid of being so miserable that I'll barely enjoy it.
I keep reminding myself that the fresh air everyday versus heading to work and caring for a 18 month old will do me some good and the sickness will be easier to handle.
Hope your trip goes well and you get to enjoy it!
ETA: benefit of a cruise is there are SO many food options that however you're feeling come meal time you will absolutely find something you like!

I haven't been on here since Thursday (maybe a comment or 2 on Friday).  I missed you guys...hope you had a nice weekend!

@PensiveCrayon I'm in more of a "slow the f**k down, there's kids on this street" kind of mood.  :D

@katem987 I hope you have a good trip!  I feel the same way though.  We're heading to Orlando in 2 weeks and I dread still feeling like crap then.

DD and I drove to SW Colorado for my Mom's retirement party for the weekend.  We ate at a cute creekside cafe yesterday on the way home and they gave her Wikki Stix (colored, pliable wax sticks) with her kids meal.  I let her play with them in the backseat for the remainder of the trip (1 hour) and that was a big mistake.  She wadded them up and got them stuck in her hair by the time we got home.  I had a hard time not peeing my pants from laughing so hard.  Luckily, the ball of wax came out with a comb, but it left a waxy residue and makes her hair stick up like "Something About Mary."  :D

@clbness I'm having a hard time picturing what Wikki Sticks are (kind of like crayons??), but that sounds hilarious! I let my 18month old have a book in his car seat on the way to his dentist appointment, and when I got there had to explain why he had little chunks of paper stuck in between his teeth  :#
  • k_m10k_m10 member
@kristah2 & @clbness thanks! I almost started crying tonight because I won’t be able to partake in the open bar. It’s so ridic becauss I don’t drink a whole lot anyway, but their drinks are so good.  :'(
I love lucky charms. I wish we had some.
    BabyFruit Ticker
  • That was last night...

  • @katem987 cruise drinks are SOOO good! BUT since they are all made to order they should be able to whip you up some virgin ones! AND they will be cheaper! WIN WIN!
  • k_m10k_m10 member
@kristah2 the entire cruise is open bar anyway.  :'( Oh well.
    @ab_canada ugh that’s so rough.
    BabyFruit Ticker
  • @ab_canada Even though you were awake for 83 minutes last night, I have to say that it's super impressive that you were in bed for over nine hours. That's still like 8 hours of sleep. I deal with fragmented sleep and I've yet to see if pregnancy helps or hinders this (probably the latter)... but basically I wake up a lot (4-5 times that I'm aware of and dozens more that I'm not aware of). No matter my sleep quality, my body "gets me up" after around 7 hours of sleep... no matter what time I go to bed.
    BabyFetus Ticker
  • @omnommer
Actually Fitbit tracks your "time asleep". So I was in bed for 10.5 hours and got 9 hours of sleep. I do feel a lot better today. Yesterday I was such a zombie I just wanted to cry from exhaustion.

I don't know how I'm going to take care of a child.. like seriously.. I don't do well on little sleep. Am I going to resent my little potato for keeping me up?

  • @ab_canada I thought I would be the same way. I need a solid 8 hours a night or I just don't function and I really LOVE to sleep. When I had DS I was terrified of the up-all-night / no sleep thing but you're so in love that you just sort of make it work.
Some nights were hard. A couple mornings DH would wake up for work and I'd be sitting up in bed crying because I had been up with DS all night. He would take him and tell me to go to sleep. I'd sleep until he needed to be fed again (3 hours ish) and always felt like a whole new person. It just sort of works.
Plus you get more mid-day naps
I've been back to my 8 hours or bust for quite some time now. I'm a little worried about having to do it all over again and with a toddler who won't let mid-day naps for mommy be a thing. I'm hoping my body will do what it did last time and just make it work for me!
  • clbnessclbness member
@rawarr They look like pipe cleaners but are waxy instead of fuzzy.  Ha, that's hilarious about the book!

@katem987 I feel ya on the need/want for a drink.  I'm not a big drinker anymore, but when I try out new restaurants or am on vacation, I like to have a drink with most meals.  Our anniversary falls in the middle of our vacation and DH and I will go out while my Mom watches DD.  I just hope I'm feeling well enough to enjoy a nice dinner out!

@ab_canada Oh man, I can't do math this morning.  :D 9 hours is amazing haha. I use Sleep Cycle and it's been very good at showing me all my awake time and all that. I am actually hopeful that for me the newborn stage won't be too rough since I'm already used to frequent awakenings. Hahaha.

  • @morgantu
that sounds bad ass.  I am too much of a baby for anything like that.
  • @katem987 @kristah2 @clbness I was on vacation last week and was also worried that it would suck and I would be miserable the whole time, but actually it made me feel a lot better! I generally sit behind a deak for 8 hours a day, but going out and walking around everyday for a week really helped me to have more energy. I was still in bed my 9:30 every night, but I wouldn't have had it any other way!

Thanks for the comforting thoughts. I do think there must be a way since I can't possibly be the only woman to have a baby who needs sleep!

  • @Jens_Hoes it feels badass, tbh!

@runrinserepeat oh girl, you are such a trooper. Glad your mom is having some good progress today, hope you start to feel better and things slow down for you all soon.

  • So I decided that I would be a little more polished today with my outfit by tucking in my shirt. I made it til my 2nd time in the bathroom, and I was done! Nope - not getting tucked in anymore! I will play the comfy game from here on out.

@mag1cbeli3ver I’ve already got a Bella band with my top button unbuttoned and pants half unzipped. No shame.
    BabyFruit Ticker
  • @katem987 I do too. Except I wore my "stretchy" work pants that don't have a button or zipper today to work thinking that it'd be nice since they stretch. NOPE. I am so uncomfortable that I have them rolled down below my belly (have to fix it if I get up, but luckily anyone who walks into my office can't see my bottom half). These pants are officially retired as soon as I get home and I will be using my bella band for the foreseeable future. It's not so bad in the morning, but the bloat gets worse throughout the day. Ugh.

  • I put on a jersey knit dress this morning and took it off almost immediately because I looked 6 months pregnant in it.   It was sad because it was so much comfier than the pants I ended up stuffing myself into instead.

  • @ab_canada I am totally like you and need plenty of sleep most of the time. But I seriously found that I am functional on WAY less sleep than I thought. Like I really would be good on 4 hours especially if it was 4 hours straight (that’s a hallelujah moment). As long as there was coffee involved I could get through the day ok.
