I was sitting down having a conversation when out of nowhere my legs (knees down and the way to my toes) swelled up really bad. I got up for a bit, but it only seemed to make it worse. Elevating is helping a little, but I'm still swollen. Is this normal? Is my body trying to tell me something is wrong?
Swelling can be normal or it can be a sign of something more serious (blood clots, pre-e, etc). To be totally blunt - if they really suddenly swelled out of nowhere I don't know why you wouldn't immediately pick up the phone and leave a message for your dr's office instead of asking here.

Probably because this is my first child and I honestly have no guidance on this besides my Dr and my own research to rely on. Don't have the luxury of having the wisdom from a mother or grandmother or from the gods or whatever. (Not trying to sass, just being honest.) Not sure if it was normal or not. That's it.
Even if it were normal for one mother it may not be your normal. Everyone has a different experience with pregnancy even if it’s not their first child. Always call your doctor if your concerned. Our advice and experience shouldn’t replace that.
FTM can't ask one simple question without getting backlash. Called my doctor and everything is fine. Honestly, just wanted an opinion. I really don't see what is so wrong with that. How the hell am I supposed to know? This is my first time.
@pregoalienkatmomma people are blunt because these issues can be very serious and sometimes people need to know to do call their dr right away because every pregnancy is different. for one person it may be normal for another it could be life threatening. So while it may seem rude it comes from a place of care. how would you feel if 10 people said it was normal but you ended up having a crisis because you chose to listen to internet people instead of calling your dr instead? sometimes caution is the best advice to be given and not sugar coat it.

I'm glad they think everything is fine but sudden swelling can be serious. Telling you to call your dr is a very valid response. How would you have felt if everyone told you swelling was a normal part of pregnancy and to not worry about it, then you later found out you were dealing with a blood clot or pre-e.
How the hell are you supposed to know? (quoting you, not adding snark) Well how the hell are we supposed to know? If you come on here with a question along the lines of, my bump itches, what's a good lotion? We'll give you answers. If you come on here with a question that could be a legitimate medical issue and should be discussed with your dr that's what we'll tell you.
