Not at all maternity/baby related...but if you're really into music theory and that kind of stuff, the Switched on Pop podcast is great! It's a bunch of music nerds dissecting pop music and analyzing what makes them popular. I hate pop music (I'm a rock n' roll/metal kinda gal) and I love this podcast! (Also, a music nerd-took 9 year of piano lessons, played flute throughout jr high/high school/some college)
I only listen to crime podcasts anymore... I just got started with In The Dark, and so far it’s really good. Obviously Serial, and a couple spin-offs from season 1 of Serial have been good (Truth and Justice, Undisclosed).
Pod Save America is pretty good too - a few guys that worked in the Obama admin do it.
My sister and her friend has a podcast! They release a new episode every Monday and this weeks episode just happens to be “Things I Wish I’d Know About Pregnancy”. It’s great! It’s called Mommin’ Ain’t Easy.
Ooh, love me some podcasts! (Nerd alert!) I have an hour long commute most days so I do a lot of podcast listening! Here are some random thoughts...
+1 for both Switched on Pop and Serial. If you like Serial, highly recommend S-town. One of my all time favorites is Happier with Gretchen Rubin and its sister podcast Happier in Hollywood. How I Built This with Guy Raz—longer episodes but great interviews. Pop Culture Happy Hour if you like entertainment, movies, music, tv discussions, etc The Gist from Slate—news and politics but the host I find really funny.
Oh, and if you want some pregnancy-related ones, I like the 40 weeks podcast, The Pregnancy Podcast (both hosted by Vanessa Merten), Pregnancy Confidential, and the Pea in the Podcast.
Not pregnancy related, but I really like Dax Shepard's Armchair Expert. Also like My Neighbor's Are Dead, an improv'd interview with secondary characters of horror movies/shows, like the phantom of the opera's agent, its hilarious
My go-to's right now are Truth and Justice (currently listening to the one about the West Memphis murders) and Real Crime Profile. RCP is a retired FBI agent and criminal profiler and they talk about the high profile cases like Making a Murderer, UNABOMBer, etc. and profile the case (which I think is interesting). I also really enjoyed In The Dark (Season 1). I'm super nerdy and as they describe these places, I go look them up on Google Earth.
@hannaht8516 I’m going to start In The Dark season 1 on my walk this afternoon! I’m all caught up with season 2 so far - it’s good!
The WM3 stuff has been interesting. I’ve seen Paradise Lost and West of Memphis, so I know a lot about the case already, but hearing Jessie Misskelley’s full confession made me so angry! Such a travesty.
@mamabearcj@cdepperschmidt I use Stitcher Radio (it's a free app!). I'm staunchly anti-Apple products so that's the app that works for Android phones. But they should be on itunes as well!
edit: you can also download the episodes on your phone via wifi so you can listen later without sucking up data.
I’ve been listening to My Favorite Murder and Missing Maura Murray. I just got into podcasts like a few weeks ago and mostly because of the true crime stuff. I’m kind of obsessed with murder stories (don’t judge, I promise I couldn’t hurt a fly).

Do you have to pay to listen??

I like the Overcast app for the iPhone.
