WTF preschool? $5 for the art show... at the school.. to see stuff I paid you to help my kids make. Plus $8 for the field trip, $25 for the cap and gown, donations for the Mother’s Day party and the preschool graduation and full tuition for June when they’re done on the 15th??? All times 2 because twins (except the field trip - I have to pay for me to go to that too). Ugh!
@purplegoldfish2 Yeah, when you're already paying for school that seems crazy! Did they at least give an explanation like the money is going words something?
@purplegoldfish2 DS1 was in private preschool and now private K. There's always an additional charge for something!! I'm so excited that he's going to public school next year.
I don't know whats wrong with me but I'm irrationally irritated and angry. I woke up in a good mood this morning too. I work at home on Wednesdays and use it as my day to get caught up on housework and laundry. We live in big a 3 family house from the 1800s. The landlord's brother in law has suddenly become the care taker of the property. At first it was great, he's made the property look so much better, the yard is clean, we got a new mail box, etc. But he's here almost every day working on something. He has a knack for trying to talk to you at the most inopportune times and is always in the way. We're on the 2nd floor, our laundry is in the basement. He's working on something in the basement that is blocking the way down today and for the last week has made a giant mess down there. The washer and dryer are completely covered in dirt/dust and are filthy. Also now all of our stuff in the basement is disgusting. Also all of my work emails are so annoying. And the cat keeps trying to get my attention and love and I just can't... then I feel awful.
@KFrob you aren't the only one! I think there are a few of us who have mentioned this week how irrationally angry we are at little things! Welcome to the club??
This one is actually one of the cheaper preschools in the area, plus I get a twin discount and a family discount since MH’s aunt is a co-owner, so I really shouldn’t complain too much (although if it had been more expensive, we may have skipped preschool completely). It’s just so many little things that are adding up and there’s been more this year than last year. This year I had to pay $5/kid for a scholastic curriculum that they were using. I mean, it’s not that much, but why do I have to pay extra? I am already paying tuition. I kind of wish they’d figure out the cost of all the extras and bump tuition up a little and then have free field trips and art shows and all the other little extras.
Art show money is going toward the ice cream (which we didn’t even eat last year), field trip money is the cost of the trip and the donations are food donations for the parties. The cap and gown has me a little mad though. $25 for something they’ll wear once... after they told us all not to worry about cap & gowns, that they’d be provided. Apparently that was only for the pictures. I’m keeping one for this baby in case we decide to put it in preschool but going to try to sell the second one to one of the parents in the 3 yr old class that plans to come back for preK.
Wtf to my life in general. Things at home are crazy, things at work are crazy, and these hormones do not help. I'm angry and cry all the time and then I feel like a jerk because I can't keep my emotions in check.
I haven't been on here much because I feel like I can't keep up with real life let alone here as well. Haha I'm really hoping the rest of this week clears all this craziness up and I can get back to some normalcy.
@britvahok I’ve heard public schools aren’t much better. We’re actually homeschooling next year, so no more surprise costs. If I don’t want to pay for it, the kids aren’t missing out because they’re the only ones in our “school” (unless the co-op does something, but I’m pretty sure that’s a pay to join and that’s it). I wanted to put them in a private school, but the one I wanted was $$$ and 40 mins one way if there’s no traffic, but I’d be driving in rush hour AND through the snowy area in winter with a newborn.... so homeschool it is!
WTF to the dude behind me in the pickup line at preschool who honked at me for backing up a foot so I could go around the car in front of me (I had my kid, and they were still waiting). I was a solid 3 feet away from your car, you ridiculous old nutcase. Also, this is a Montessori school. It’s small, and you’re in the pickup line at the children’s house. Chances are, we’re going to have to interact at some point in the next few years, and now I hate you. Congrats.
WTF to my new cleaning lady!? We hired a cleaning lady to get our condo cleaned to put it on the market and I'm not quite sure she has cleaned before LOL She is using just a damp cloth to dust my wood surfaces, she cleaned by oven but just sprayed the stuff in there and wiped it clean - it needs to soak! She doesn't know how to use my vacuum attachments so she is just dusting my couches to try to get the dog hair off! Glad I work from home and can assist in correcting her!
Me 33 DH 41 TTC since 2016 Due: October 12, 2018 Location: Ontario, Canada
@chyvie Do you use a cleaning service that sends out maids? Because if so...they probably need to hear about this particular staff member. I wouldn't pay for the service today.
@sliztee No it is just a lady I found through a local FB group. She was recommended. I won't be using her again, but feel bad to not pay. She is doing the work I just need to keep an eye on her LOL
Me 33 DH 41 TTC since 2016 Due: October 12, 2018 Location: Ontario, Canada
@chyvie who on earth recommended her!? I would be seriously questioning 1. their judgment/perspective of the definition of 'clean', 2. the state of that person's house...
I have a cleaning service, but it is a local company. I occasionally find stuff they did a bad job on, but they are generally good about correcting stuff. Also- they bring their own supplies, unless I ask them to do something different- so I have never worried about whether they can use my vacuum!
WTF to the landscaper we're trying to hire. He's come out twice to review the work we want done (some hardscaping next to the driveway), and now that we have HOA approval he's completely ghosted. This guy was ready to start the work ASAP (I had to tell him to slow down bc we needed approval) and now he's MIA? Not happy about having to go back out and find more quotes, and a lot of companies won't bid because it's a pretty small job in a land of new construction right now.
Also cannot WAIT to restart a cleaning service. All of this talk makes me miss them so much.
WTF to my dream. Vague bumping as what I dreamed does not need to be written down and seen by anyone. Also one of our two dogs found a rabbit nest (looks like all survived that interaction and I am shocked). WTF to the rabbit to making the nest there. We have a fenced on smaller part of our yard and the dogs are out there all them time and I hang out with them out there to enjoy the weather .. Why would you put your babies in an area that smells of danger!?! Now because I can't have my dogs killing baby bunnies the dogs have to live on leashes in our fenced yard for three weeks. Then I hope and pray those adorable little things stay the heck out of our yard or learn fast to run dang fast! Could we create a fence to protect the nest and let mom in to take care of them? Yes but we don't have the supplies and so we just live around them. Ugh
WTF - Amazon search algorithms and product placement.
I searched for “click counter” - you know- the little handheld counters that you use to count people through the door or laps completed?
So, in among the very relevant results, I also find a Britney Spears Perfume, a bottle drying rack, and an indoor gardening kit. Please tell me what any of these things have to do with counting?
Also- I don’t wear perfume and have never bought any gardening supplies off Amazon. Seriously? Why?
@SweetSweetTooth We had one in our yard too! One of our dogs sadly got one but the mom and others seem to be gone now. I wish the mama bunnies would learn not to nest where they can smell the dogs! We have a fenced in yard too and we are out there often enough that they should be able to smell the dogs and us.
+ 1 to the irrational cranky grumpy pants club. EVERYTHING pisses me off. My dog got into a package of toilet paper and literally shredded 24 rolls into confetti all over my yard.. I wanted to scream. And I just asked for references for a good cleaning service. I finally said f**k it, I can't keep up! Glad to know you ladies are on board with maid service cuz for a minute it made me feel really lazy but now I feel better!
@linssears4 oh I'm all about maid service. It was a must when we moved into our new house a few years ago. I just don't want to spend my free time cleaning. Yes, it's a "luxury" but it's something that we budget for and soooo worth it.
I also am super lazy and use instacart at least once or twice a month. The Whole Foods by us is in a super-incredible-high-traffic-hell-hole-nightmare-zone that you don't even think about driving there after work. So if we need something during the week that we can't get at Kroger (let's be honest, even if we can), or we were gone all weekend, instacart is happening. Pro tip: be very specific or you'll get some dumb substitutes or something you didn't want or 2 lbs of ginger root.
ETA: one thing that has stuck with me was advice a woman gave to college kids at a recruiting dinner I was at last year. I don't think they were paying attention, but as a dual working family with babies in our future, I was all ears. Anyway, her advice was that it's ok to have someone clean your house and grocery shop for you. You can't do everything: work/clean/shop/spend time with family, so sometimes you need to pay someone to do the easy stuff so you can spend time with your kids, etc. It's all about work-life balance, and if that's important, then budgeting in these extra expenses may be necessary.
It took me too long to start using one. I started with a lawn guy, because I just couldn’t find the hour I needed to mow when it wasn’t blistering hot outside. Then I got a dog. Shortly after getting said dog, I realized that dogs, unlike cats, make everything icky really quickly.
I came home one day to a lovely lawn and clean patio, walked into my house and took one look at the fur bunnies that had multiplied overnight and got on Angie’s List.
Without getting into the long history of my crazy dogs, I have 3 of them. 2 GSDs and a Great Dane Mix. The 2 GSDs decided about 4 years ago that they hate each other and almost killed each other, so we have been keeping them separated since then. Well this morning I had one GSD in my room, the other dogs were out going potty. The dog in my room saw the dog she hates outside and lunged at the window. She punched a window pane out of the window and got her toe stuck in it. Miraculously didn't cut herself, but now we need a new window.
THEN when I went to Home Depot to get some stuff to temporarily fix said window, I left the Great Dane Mix in one of the other bedrooms because he likes to chew up DDs toys while we are gone. When I get home, I go to let him out and see that there was a Nintendo Switch game under the dresser that he fished out and shredded into 1000 pieces. So now all in one day I'm out a window and a $60 video game. I love my dogs but it's taking everything I have within me to not just open the door and let them all run away. Joking, obviously. But it's been one of those days.
WTF at my stomach. I feel like I am literally always ravenous- I put food in, and it wants more. I eat more and feel sick from being so full, and 30 minutes later, I am starving again.
Also WTF to this wedding I had to buy a dress for. Its a tuxedo wedding, meaning I (and probably most other guests) had to go out and buy GOWNS for a fucking wedding. Like, thats just selfish.
@kiwi2628 I totally feel you with the ravenous thing. It's like it's never satisfied-super frustrating! And with the dress- just go buy one and return it afterward lol
@kiwi2628 I totally feel you with the ravenous thing. It's like it's never satisfied-super frustrating! And with the dress- just go buy one and return it afterward lol
Please don’t do this. It’s basically stealing. Rent the runway might be a good option if you haven’t bought one yet. I’ve never used them, but a friend loves them.
@kiwi2628 - You can also rent gowns. You just have to call around. Also- it is Prom season- Goodwill has all their prom dresses out. Nobody has to know where you got it or you can brag abour how you only paid $15 for it - whatever floats your boat.
@kiwi2628 That’s annoying to have to buy a dress, also considering you are pregnant. I hated buying any new clothes while pregnant since it wasn’t clear I’d ever wear it again.
I'm just wondering why I'm suddenly seeing a ton of ads for skimpy lingerie every time I log into the bump.

WTF DH? We are moving in less than 3 weeks. We are NOT PACKED. I am pregnant, hangry, and tired....do not ask me how to pack things, where things should go, how to label boxes. You are a grown-up. 1. Pick up shit 2. Put in Box 3. Tape box closed 4. Don't get punched by your KU wife
Can my coworkers stop sucking, please? Just because I'm pregnant does not mean you get to try and pull one over on me or cut corners on my stuff without me noticing. In fact, it makes me more rageful because I am pregnant. They need an etiquette class at companies where rule #1 is "Don't Be A Dick." Whenever you are about to do something at work, ask yourself, "is this a dick move?" If so, don't do it.

Wtf to giphy.com not actually having .gif formats!! I finally had to use my keyboard gif engine and sent one to my husband so I could then save it to my phone. It's probably me, but still!
Also, WTAF to my phone's spelling correction on this stupid app. I try to change the spelling my clicking on the correct word, and somehow "corect" turns into "corexco"? Where the hell did the x come from? I'm just trttry (trying) to spell "correct"!! Arghhhh!!

This is one of my big complaints about the preschools closest to me. They are also among the most expensive preschools in the area.
