So I thought I would post here and re-introduce myself to anyone who may have known me from the IF board. My husband and I have been TTC for about two years now. I just turned 37 last week so around month 9 of trying we decided to get me checked and my OB referred us to a fertility clinic to be on the safe side. We did a few months of medicated cycles and then moved onto IUI. My husband seems to have no issues with sperm (his count was off the charts!) and everything seemed fine with me as far as egg quantity/quality, no tube issues. We just had "unexplained infertility". After a few months of IUI our doctor suggested our best bet was to move on to IVF as it didn't seem we were having issues getting sperm to egg (hence the IUI was kind of just throwing money away). We talked about it and decided we would go for our first IVF cycle in September after saving the money to cover the costs (insurance doesn't cover it, though my HRA does let me use those funds for infertility so we had a few thousand we could use from that). We've been tracking my cycle but stopped with ovulation testing and anything more than timed intercourse (we just made sure we were baby dancing around the times FF said I was fertile). This month we moved into a new apartment with our puppy (we had been staying with my parents while saving for both IVF and a house, but decided we needed at least another year for the house so signed a one year lease at our new apartment complex for a nice one bedroom). We've been moving all week and on top of that my mom was diagnosed with lung cancer two weeks ago (which was especially hard considering how much I can't wait for her to be a grandmom!) and I am also the matron of honor for my best friends wedding in May which has meant bridal shower/wedding prep/bachelorette party planning. This week I was feeling extremely run down and somewhat sick to my stomach. But also cramping, sore boobs, moody, etc.. so I figured I was overwhelmed from everything. Had a slight spot of pink blood on the 19th (my birthday!) and figured here we go with AF. Nothing for the next few days. Was feeling especially crappy on Sunday night and thought.... hmmmm.... so I grabbed a pregnancy test figuring there was no way. .... well the line came up before the pee even spread to the control line! Then proceeded do darken over the next minute. I was in SHOCK! I called my husband in (he thought something broke in the bathroom lol) and we were both just stunned! The last few days have been emotional and exciting and terrifying!! I've had (*TW*) two chemical pregnancies in the time we've been trying so I have been terrified that it won't stick. But the few tests I've taken have stayed strong (with on lighter line the morning after which I chalked up to my pee or the dye in the test once I took two more that were strong as ever!)
Whoo sorry for the long intro!!! But I went for my beta bloodwork this morning and if it comes back positive (which I'm confident it will - I'm more concerned with getting some good numbers at this point!!) it will be further than we've gotten so far in this two year journey (my cp's were all lightly positive HPT but low to negative blood). So fingers crossed for today and the numbers being high!! My clinic has me on early pregnancy monitoring so they are also testing my progesterone to see if I need a supplement and will be doing bloodwork and ultrasounds frequently for the next 8-12 weeks. I'm unbelievably excited and super cautious as well!!!!
Thanks for listening to my story and I hope to get to share this journey with many of you over the next 9 months!!!!
@thothscribe81 Welcome! Your story is very close to mine and I'm now almost 22 weeks. You've got this! Fingers crossed for a big strong beta and an even better second. Keep us posted!
@sarcasticowl Thank you!! I just got the call that my beta was 521 and they were very happy with that! I go on Friday for another blood test and my first ultrasound! My progesterone was 10.2 so they were also happy with that I don't think I"ll end up having to do extra of that. So excited!!
thothscribe81 welcome and congrats!!! Surprise BFPs are the best! Good luck with Fri follow up, fingers crossed for doubling beta!
