@ab_canada Why do you have to drink so much before your ultrasound? It has been awhile, but I’m pretty sure I was instructed to empty my bladder before mine early on.
@texas_t congrats girl. Twins are so special. They are so much fun. A handful yes, but still fun.
We had out 1st dr appt today. Everything looks great. We were bumped from 7w3d to 8w1d. Heartbeat was a strong 153. Due date went from Dec 7 to Dec 2. I know there is a good chance of having a Nov baby but I'm still staying here on the Dec BMB. Only downside was the printer to the uktrasound machine was broken so we didn't get a sonogram. But we did get to see our nugget on screen.
@katy0990, @rosebud332 Yes, they definitely said to empty bladder and then drink 4 eight ounce glasses of water (and finish drinking it an hour before).
Based on your responses, sounds like even if I drink some of it, I will be fine. It must me to make the image clearer or something..
@ab_canada@katy0990@rosebud332 I went in for a u/s last week and they told me to drink 32oz of clear liquid 30 mins beforehand. I asked the tech and she said it's because for an abdominal u/s if the bladder is full then it moves the bowel out of the way and it's easier to see the uterus. She ended up doing a transvaginal and for that, she wanted an empty bladder.
I have an intake appt with the nurse on Friday morning at 5+1. It’s just a phone appt, but I’m so excited to be able to talk to another person about being pregnant.
I have ny GD class on Tuesday, so woohoo...I'm actually looking forward to it, I've been stressing out about the Dx all weekend and I feel terrified to eat anything. I'm also super picky, so I'm hoping they'll have some good suggestions for meals that I'll enjoy. If not it's going to be a long 8 months of food I don't like... My first OB appointment is on Friday at 1, not sure if they're doing an US or not, but I need one for dating purposes, so I hope so!! The US are a different department than the OBs though, so I'm not getting my hopes up too much for one this Friday.
@CecilB93 I’m so confused on why they diagnosed you with GD? I thought GD was a chemical reaction specifically with the placenta that starts at around week 26. Did they explain at all?

Apparently since my BMI was over a certain threshold I had to do early glucose testing *eyeroll* Well the results came back and the highest they like to see it is 130, I scored 208 apparently...and since it was so high they wouldn't even let me try the 3 hour. I was pretty upset since I didn't have it with DS, still kind of am.

Oh wow! Did they run a a1c to get a better picture of your day to day blood sugar?
When I had gd I had to test 4 times a day and log my food and sugars. For me, after my third pregnancy, my doctor told me to cut out wheat specifically but also grains if I got pregnant again, since I already had signs of a wheat intolerance. I did for my 4th and didn’t have a single blood sugar issue. There are some studies that show there is a connection with wheat intolerances and GD. It may be worth exploring.

I haven't actually met with my OB yet. Idk if she'll tell me what to do or if this diabetes class is supposed to tell me what all I need to do. They haven't done any further testing or anything, just called and said, "you have gestational diabetes". I have about a billion questions for my OB when I meet her on Friday. My mom has a friend who's a registered dietician though, so I kind of what to see her and discuss everything and what I need to do/not eat.
Good luck today @maureenmce, I hope everything looks great

Had a great sonogram this morning! LO is measuring 6+2/3 instead of LMP 6+6. But I saw the heart flutter and heard 110 heart rate (my sonographer is happy with anything over 100). *whew*
This is such a relief after my MC, but I wish DH could have been there this time. I’ll add to the ultrasound thread later, I’m at IKEA and won’t look at baby things because I’m not out of the dark yet. FX!

Hope everyone has/had good appts this week! Mine is tomorrow before work... I work second shift so really hoping A) they arent running too far behind and b) everything is relatively normal and they can find a promising HB so I don't have to go into work a wreck when no one there knows what’s going on. Last pregnancy the news wasnt so great so trying to put that out of my mind. Good thing(?!) DH will be there this time...maybe....
I am currently dying inside. I have my first ultrasound a little later today and after two MCs I am really freaking myself out. I'm trying to stay calm but I'm just so nervous. And I'm not sure exactly what I'd see in an ultrasound at 6 weeks since I've never had one this early.

@asun123 Hang in there! I'm in the exact same position - ultrasound later today after 2 MC's - and I am so nervous too. Sending you good thoughts!!! And as for what to expect at 6 weeks, generally a fetal sac and pole, I believe, and sometimes a heartbeat, but sometimes it's too early. Sending hugs!
Edited to add congratulations on the good ultrasound, @echo-charlietango ! I missed your post somehow!
Heard from my Dr. today about my blood test from yesterday. HCG- 1596 (was at 470 last wed). He said another blood draw on Thursday and if its up to 3,000 a ultrasound either Saturday or Monday. I have such mixed feelings I dont even know what to do with myself.
@texas_t he said that he is concerned about how low my progesterone was last week when they checked. I am doing (2) 200 mg suppositories a day, so I am hoping they help. What I need to do is stay off Google because I am freaking myself out about low HCG for 6 + weeks pregnant. I never had HCG run with my son's pregnancy so I am hoping that this is just what my body does and that we will have a really successful U/S soon.
I have had my blood drawn for HCG purposes every 48 hours. My OB is happy with how the numbers are going up. My progesterone level is low, so I am on a supplement for that. Checking progesterone levels again later today, hopefully the supplements are helping. My OB wants to see me next Monday to do an ultrasound. So many nerves after my last loss, but trying to think positively!
Appointment update - thank god - there's a heartbeat! Baby is measuring three days ahead at 8 weeks, with a strong heartbeat of 165! My PGAL brain won't let me feel really out of the woods until the first trimester is over, but this was a HUGE hurdle and I'm feeling so happy and relieved. Will update the ultrasound thread with a photo when I have a chance! (Still waiting for my appointment with the OB.)
