Re: Weekly Randoms - Week of 4.16

  • @Activebaby Re: the app I actually sent the bump an email complaint because the new pop up ads are literally making it impossible to use the app on my phone. They actually responded right away and asked me some follow up questions I answered, so feel free to email them too! I'm hoping they'll fix it asap. The more of us who complain the better! I was basically like, I'm 3 or 4 annoying pop up ads away from deleting this app forever.

@runrinserepeat Im sorry! thats such a long wait. There was an glitch with my insurance the week before my u/s appt when I was trying to find out his gender, so they had to push it back 6 weeks because they were so full. Longest wait ever!

  • Thanks y’all. I’ll be fine. Hearing the heartbeat is all I really care about and I’ll get to do that regardless.

Im thinking I could probably go in for an nt Evan if I requested one, but last time they told us we weren’t at any increased risk for anything genetic, and it was a long appointment that I don’t want to have to schedule away from work, so I’ll just wait! Lord knows I’ll still be counting the days until December either way!

@maureenmce ugh I wanna join the dinner party. I have been wanting a big wegmans salad (if y'all don't have wegmans, I truly apologize that you're missing out in your life). But I can't spend $15 on one freaking salad. I'm about to join team @rosebud332 though and just cry BUT VEGGIES and call it a day.
  • @runrinserepeat 20 weeks!!! what the what! My insurance won't pay for the 1st trimester ultrasound that they usually do to check for some important stuff. They only cover the 20 week one. They at least do a courtesy one at your first appt to verify the due date.
Is there any placed that you can go to do an ultrasound, like an outside agency?

  • There is not enough food in the world for me today. This is the first day i have had a crazy insatiable hunger. Holy crap. Within the last 2 hours I have had a full dinner, an orange, and now a giant bowl of popcorn but I'm STILL HUNGRY. Is this what growing a person is like?
  • So, I had something happen today that I wasn't expecting. I just got back to work from lunch and suddenly out of no where, my heart started racing. It's not unusual for it to happen to me every once in awhile, but what was different this time was how long it lasted. I want to say this went on for at least 10-15 minutes. I sat down and was taking deep breaths, but it didn't seem to do anything.. eventually it went on to feeling like my heart was fluttering, then it finally went away. Has something like this ever happened to anyone before? I've looked it up, and it didn't seem to be anything too concerning. I did call my doctor's office just in case and left a message, so hopefully they will call me back by tomorrow.
  • @maureenmce re: app ads, I emailed them as well and also got follow up responses. I seriously don't want to leave this BMB, but man it's hard with all these stupid ads!!

  • @whitneyb89 I have a heart arrhythmia that acted up a couple of times when I was pregnant with my daughter and they had me go to a cardiologist to get it checked out just to be safe (but this may be due to extenuating circumstances - my father died of a heart attack at a young age.) Anyway, I would go ahead and mention it to your OB. They may refer you or they may not, but it's good to chat with a doctor about it just in case. Luckily, my arrhythmia ended up being the harmless kind, and hopefully yours is too!
  • Re: the ads, I moved to using the mobile site instead of the app last night. Ads are still there but less in the way. And the back button works! Bonus.

  • My sweet precious little 2 1/2 year old son keeps coming into our bed at 12:30 and plastering himself up against me. I am not a cuddler when I sleep and keep trying to move him and rolls right back.  SOOO, I've gotten up the past two nights and slept in the guestroom by myself.  :|

Ugh @texas_t that is probably going to be one of my biggest issues being a FTM.  I am NOT a big cuddler no matter what, but especially in bed.  Little people crawling all over me constantly gives me hives just thinking about it.  My husband is the same way so maybe our kids will inherit our don't-touch-me genes,

  • @hkom Luckily, when it's your kid, you'll tolerate a lot more!!!! Middle of the night is still a no go though, lol.  Especially while pregnant, I've noticed I'm a lot less tolerant, hahaha

  • @hkom I like cuddles in moderation, but am a terrible hugger, to the point that my family and in-laws make fun of my cardboard hugs. But I was actually really looking forward to the snugs when I had my son. Unfortunately, he inherited the “no-touchy" gene from me, and has never been one to linger in my arms or cuddle in bed. He even hated carriers when he was wee little, unless it was time for a nap. Comparison: when I was a baby I would stick my arms and legs straight out to avoid being put in the Snugli.

So it's entirely possible that he'll just not be into snuggles and all will be well!

I'm sure I will be more than ok with it!  Especially baby snuggles.  But current, pregnant me wants to die thinking about a sticky toddler hanging off of me haha.

I felt nauseous and had to pee. It was a hard choice, however since I’ve had 2 vaginal births, I made the safest decision. Pee first. Then someone else came into the bathroom and I had to hold back my wretching. I’m okay now, but I bet I’ll have to head back to the bathroom soon.

@morgantu Wegmans is awesome!  I used to game their salad bar by putting lots of light-weight stuff in my salad.  My typical was spinach, walnuts, some cheese (blue or feta), some dried fruit and croutons.  I could get a huge salad for under $5.00.  They took away the walnuts though so it's not as good any more.

And the ads are pretty bad on the website too in my experience.

  • @rosebud332 I though it was just me with the back button! So annoying!

Also I am kinda jealous of those of you with a Wegman's near by. The closest one to me is probably 40 minutes away so while I've been before, it's definitely no place I frequent, But their whole prepared food selection is a-mazing

  • @runrinserepeat Good luck on the bloodwork!

What is this Wegman's you all speak of?  I don't think we have those in CO.  I love me a good expensive salad...DH just doesn't understand.

Ugh, the wind was SO BAD here yesterday.  It knocked the power out at work at 3:30, so we all got to go home early...score!  I got home and half my fence was blown over in the backyard...fail!  But, DH was going to replace it next weekend anyways, so at least he didn't have to tear it all down by himself...I guess.  Thanks, wind?

  • I have to ask. How does Wegman's compare to Hy-vee? Because I'm having a hard time believing there is a better grocery store than Hy-vee.

  • @gracie4400 Mine is not particularly close either so I don’t go a lot, but when I do...yum.

@clbness It’s really just an expensive grocery store but their food is really good. I think it’s a pretty small company, east coast based.

HyVee is the BEST!! Nothing compares in my mind. Granted I don't have a Wegman's here, so I can't answer your question.

  • @runrinserepeat also not qualified to answer. I just know that wegman's is the holy grail of grocery stores for me. And it's not really that much more expensive, except the prepared foods (which are delishhhh)
  • @runrinserepeat Good luck with the bloodwork!

Also,I am so intrigued by these exotic sounding grocery stores I've never heard of! HyVee and Wegman's! We just have Ralph's, Trader Joe's (though none near me) Gelson's and Whole Foods. And @kadeephd I need to learn your salad bar skills because I always spend like $16! For a salad!

(Btw I DID get a huge, expensive salad last night and it was worth it.)
  • Ah yes, Hy-Vee is definitely the best!

  • @runrinserepeat my doc won’t even attempt with the Doppler until after 10 weeks. It was causing too much anxiety in her patients if they didn’t hear a heartbeat. I think I was 13 or 14 weeks when I heard anything with BB-1.

Not to rain on your parade. Maybe they’ll whip out the u/s for you!
  • @ay-eff The nurse said yesterday that they'd try the doppler at 8 weeks and I wouldn't get an u/s, so I'm not holding my breath.

  • In other news, I've been brewing double-strength tea (either lemon ginger or green tea), and then mixing with just as much lemon seltzer water. And it's amazing. Screw drinking water, this is how I'm hydrating from now on.

  • Oh yeah, I'm only 5wks and 6days but my pants already to tight. No shame in my maternity pant game! Haha
  • Welp, I googled Sudafed in 1st trimester and it's no bueno. Guess I'll just have to tough out this strange/annoying congestion. I've probably already given my kid a bunch of birth defects, so that's awesome.
