Re: TW Tuesday 4/10

  • My twat today is this weather...FFS why can't mother nature get her shit together and stay to consistent with how hot/cold it's going to be??? Just pick a season and stick to it, damnit!! I'm sweating and it's not even 9:30am...

  • I'm not sure if the TW is me, MIL, or DD... maybe OB?  MIL parked super crooked in my spot yesterday so I had to park on the edge of the driveway on DH's side and this morning had to wade in mud to get DD in car after she fought me for 30 min...which my bad back LOVED... now I'm sitting here waiting for OB to call back regarding PCP's suspicion of a UTI and stockpiling urine in case I have to go do a clean catch...since like 10... but hey i'm footloose and child free until 6 pm but have no motivation to adult...

TW... Southwest Airlines. And my D[umbass]H.
So we’re going to FL for a conference for his work, a travel coordinator sets up the tickets... DH gives the woman my married name when I HAVENT CHANGED MY NAME YET. So the plane tickets have the wrong name. I tell DH to fix it well over a month ago, he was told it’s all set. Well he gets an email from said travel coordinator saying that now they need our marriage license and a copy of my ID with my  maiden name.. A work week in advance, which was Friday, as in last Friday. Now she’s saying they *might* be able to adjust it at the registration counter on the day we fly out. WHY IS THIS SO DIFFICULT ITS A 2HR DOMESTIC FLIGHT.

It doesn’t help that I’m extra snappy because I had to take the 3hr GTT today and just got real food in me. Secondary TW goes to whoever makes that garbage sugar drink, I hate you.
  • Oh, that's super annoying @acunamatada! Hope it all gets straightened out soon!

I'm doing a TW-in-advance of this evening, the TW being traffic. DH and I are supposed to go to a class on preparing for your c-section, at the hospital where I'll be delivering. But the hospital is right next to Fenway, and the Red Sox are playing there tonight. Also Mike Pence is coming to town for some reason--his event is not near the hospital, but I'm hoping that won't add to the traffic woes. Crossing my fingers we make this class in time--not many of them are offered!
  • Another tw here for the weather, but because it's fucking snowing outside...again. And for the next 10 days it's barely getting above 45 with a random 60 degree day in there... In farenheit.

  • Another TW here for weather...it sucks here. I just keep hoping another two weeks until its nice out but...then more cold comes.

No other TW's here...yet. The day is young, however, and DS is currently not napping, so plenty of room to work one in.
  • @acunamatada I think I mentioned this before but getting the wrong name on my plane tickets is my worst nightmare. They should be able to fix it, but your DH definitely could have done a bit more work ahead of time... Good luck on the 3hr GTT!
  • Wrong name on boarding passes is a nightmare! I just went through that in March to my trip to Houston. I just had to deal with TSA because they told me i couldn’t change it due to being booked to my work travel agency.
  • @kissableviv he actually emailed the coordinator over a month ago and was told twice that we would be all set. Then she tells him Friday that the airline is just now working on changing it and they need all this information a week before takeoff which would have been impossible.
DH is the idiot that gave them the wrong name in the first place.. I get that you’re excited we got married, but you KNOW I haven’t changed my name yet!!

I feel way less crappy after this 3hr than when I took the 1hr, but I was also fighting a cold during the first test. I’m hoping that’s a good sign!
  • One more for the weather. It was in the 20's last night and snowed. It is going to be 70 on Thursday, 80 on Friday and then in the 70's with rain over the weekend. It's nuts.

  • Obviously my midwife group is the TW today, but aside from that, I just found out my son's daycare did photos today and no one bothered to tell us? Like, are we just purposely not informed of anything because we're leaving? Every day it's something new with them.

And yeah I have to agree on the weather. UGH.
  • ooo I have a TW! Those Facebook memes that are brainteasers, like the ones with all the food you have to add up and guess what it adds to, or the one I just saw that says, "which cup is filled first?" WHERE ARE THE ANSWERS, MEME? Do I just have to trust that the people who agree with me are the right ones? I would love for it to tell you where the answers are located or when they will be answered so you can see if you are right, and if not, why. Especially because they often say, "No one will get this!" or "4 out of 5 fail!" I wanna know if I'm special! lol.

So there is a licensed home daycare in our neighborhood (good reviews), but what i don’t get is why do they still have to charge for days they take off (vacation and sick days)? We would literally pay for there vacation. Is it just me who thinks that’s unfair? I get last minute changes yes I’ll pay for the inconvenience but we’ll planned ahead vacation for either side it’s just BS to me. She said that’s because we are paying for the spot... yeah a spot that no kid can take while your on vacation!! How does that make sense?!
Sorry not so much a TW post

eta my TW is my left nipple that won’t stop throbbing like it’s letting down. Too early for this!!!
  • @wildtot that’s how my daycare is I think. You still have to pay for days they are closed. Mine is a center, not in home, so idk if that makes a difference.
  • @zande2016 that’s just weird to me. It’s two weeks of their vacation plus whatever national holidays. That’s close to a month. Oh plus 5 sick days. At the Montessori we did when DS was a baby they allowed some days off due to emergency or advance notice, maybe they just weren’t part of the norm?
  • @wildtot in a center we paid for our weeks off, we had to drop the check off a week early for the week closed or we'd get charged a late fee, lol. I think in home daycares do it because they can...you'd be paying in a center so you can pay there, too. I agree its annoying. Often in daycare centers at least they have workers there training, or cleaning, or something, so they are still working.

Although, I did just think about the fact that getting paid over vacation is a benefit so many of us enjoy, we just don't see it directly because the company we work for gets all that money and hands it back to us. In the case of an in home daycare center you are handing them money so maybe it seems weirder, but still the same benefit of "paid vacation time" other people get?
  • @wildtot that's how my in-home daycare works, too. She gets two weeks of paid vacation and the major holidays (not minor ones). It makes sense to us so we have no problem paying her for them. We get paid vacations, so why can't she? It's her full time job--she just happens to work from home.

It wouldn't be a deal breaker for me if you actually like this place. Good luck!

  • @SmashJam yeah it makes sense if you put it that way. Guess i need to come down from my other sitter rage lol but still a center is less likely to close completely (other than holidays) so it feels weirder when they close completely and still require payment.
DHs “diet” is making me rage too i think lol. I can’t eat like this! I need my sugar and bread!
  • @flockofmoosen3 @zande2016 @SmashJam thanks for talking sense into me!

@wildtot omg my DH's diets make me ragey too! He can't be normal he goes like balls to the wall. Atkins is his fave and in the first stage you could have 25 carbs a day and he would go 8 or none. He would eat salt and pepper chicken thighs and omelets for weeks. IT.MADE.ME.CRAZY. Like, can't you just eat reasonable portions and pay attention to the crap going into your piehole and exercise? If he cut beer and got on the elliptical for 30 min a day he would see results.

    ETA:words.
  • @SmashJam 25 grams of carbs??? Lord, I am having 200 (for realz) every day! Atkins is a bit crazy IMO. I mean before baby I could obviously see results by cutting carbs but it was mostly portion control and exercise. Agreed that cutting beer would probably make a huge difference, haha! Isn't it funny the kind of shit they can eat and not care? I would lose my mind on chicken and omelettes!
  • @SmashJam at this rate he’s only eating chicken with brussel sprouts or asparagus. I ended up going to the gas station for ice cream and sour patch watermelons lol
  • @wildtot I just ate a skinny cow ice cream bar for dinner after kid fought me to go down for 40 min...I salute you
@SmashJam yea...my husband is like 6'2" and 250+ he once ate 84 pieces of sushi at an all you can eat place (which soon after closed) and my parents call him the human garbage disposal.  If i make a standard 4-person recipe, DD and I eat 1/4 and he finishes the rest... if i actually get out the measuring cups to portion he gets so sad.

  • @gingerbride26 that's my life! The other day I made a dish that called for 12 oz of pork and I made it with 24 oz with 4 packages of ramen...it was gone at the end of the day. If I made the standard recipe he would eat so much less and also be sad. He also he no breakfast and no lunch so comes home starving....I couldn't make it an hour past wake up without food, I don't know how he does it.
  • @SmashJam my husband doesn’t eat breakfast or lunch either! He doesn’t usually come home until after the kids are in bed. Idk how he doesn’t eat for that long! I’d be so grouchy and hangry by like 8:30 am
