Infertility

New here! (Loss mentioned)

A little about my fertility journey.... DH and I have been ttc for a year and a half. We just finished our first round of IVF / ICSI. We did PGS testing and got 7 out of 10 perfect frozen embies. After my first FET we got our BFP! But it unfortunatly ended in a chemical pregnancy at just about 6 weeks. We got this news today after a blood test revealed my beta has dropped to 8. I’ve been instructed to stop all my meds, and wait for AF. We have a consult with our doctor on Monday for our next steps. I am really hoping to be able to jump right into another round for our second FET and keep our momentum going. I can’t stand the wait! I am really looking forward to the positive support of this community! It may be just what I need to get me through the next steps in our fertility journey. I had a loss, but I am staying positive. Can’t wait to meet and hear more about everyone here. Baby dust to all!

  • @CourtRoseS I want to start by saying I am sorry for your loss and I know exactly how you feel. I just found out last week that I was suffering a CP at 5 weeks after my first ever IVF cycle and first ever BFP .  We do not have any frosties so have to start from scratch and I am counting the days until we start our next cycle. Unfortunately we can't meet with our RE until 4/30 but at least I have that to look forward to right now as I am only able to deal with this loss by focusing on trying again! I hope your consult went well and you able to dive right back in! FX for the next cycle!
  • @Ragan520, I am so sorry to hear about your loss as well. We all know loss is a possibility, but you're never quite prepared for it, and unless you've experienced it, there is really no way to describe it. At our follow up consult, we were told we would have to wait another cycle to start again. Hearing we had to wait through the current cycle, plus one more was not fun to hear. I agree, looking forward to the next plan makes dealing with a loss easier. Knowing we have another treatment starting soon, but also having a little break in everything that is IVF has been a nice reprieve. 4/30 will be here before you know it, and hopefully AF will be on time for me to start again early May! Thanks for sharing, and FX for your consult and upcoming cycle!
  • @CourtRoseS That sucks that you have to wait another cycle...If you don't mind me asking, why do you have to wait?  I am hoping I can just start once AF comes next month since I have start back at square one. Keep me updated and FX for AF for you!
  • @Ragan520 Not at all! My RE said that the bleeding that started right after I stopped all my meds was considered a MC, and not a true cycle. They wanted me to have a “real” cycle for my body to reset before starting again. Seems a little unessesary to me. Keep me updated too. I hope you don’t have to wait!
  • @CourtRoseS When did you start bleeding after stopping the meds? I spotted a couple of days before I got my news that my numbers went down and then started bleeding the day after stopping meds and have just now stopped after 9 days.  I'm hoping that means I had my period along with my m/c since I was only at 5 weeks and had already started spotting. I know I will get all the info I need on Monday to stop obsessing on when I can try again but for now, this is helping :)
  • @Ragan520 I started bleeding the very next day I stopped the meds. It lasted about 5 days, same as my typical cycle, but it was way more intense. Hopefully since yours was longer it will count for both, or you wont need it to count as both. FX for you tomorrow! Glad you will finally get some answers!
  • @CourtRoseS Mine was sooo intense and the cramps were very painful, which I usually have bad cramps with AF....these were on a whole other level! So my RE is overall optimistic about the eggs/embryos we did get (6 retrieved, 4 mature, 3 fertilised, and at least 1 made to blast b/c it implanted).  However, he is concerned with my egg quality since I was measuring at least 12 follies before trigger and then only 6 eggs retrieved. Therefore, he has put me on COq10 for 6 weeks before we can start our next IVF...I was bummed to hear we had to wait, but am thankful he has a plan that he feels will help my egg quality since feels that is where our problem lies.  He will also be adding HGH to that cycle as well.  FX that AF is on her way to visit you!
  • @Ragan520 I’m sorry to hear you have to wait, that’s so frustrating. It sounds like it will be worth it though. Your RE sounds great, and that’s exciting to have a new plan to go forward with! I have heard good things about both Coq10 And HCH. In fact my husband and I both took Coq10 before my retrieval as well. 6 weeks will be here before you know it. Although the wait between IVF cycles sucks, I have to say it’s been really nice to have a break from all the shots, hormones, blood tests ect. I’m starting to feel like a normal human being again lol. Still, I hope AF gets here soon and I get the green light to start again. She’s due tomorrow, but you know how fickle she can be. Continue to keep me updated!
  • Hi Ladies. @ragan520 and @CourtRoseS Sorry to lurk. I too had a loss from a FET. and also had to wait - here is the reason. So while you are bleeding with the MC you still have HCG in your system. That HCG is still signaling to your reproductive organs that you are still pregnant so that you don't ovulate or release any other hormones. Once your HCG hits zero your body will prepare for a cycle....heres the part that SUCKS -  from the moment you hit 0 (or below 5 which is considered not pregnant) it could take your body 4-6 weeks more week to have a period. My HCG took a solid whole month to go to 0 and then two weeks from that point I started my period, which was today. Knowing that it made sense why my clinic needed me to wait. Hope your waiting goes quickly, I know the waiting in the worst. Best of luck ladies. hoping for good news from my clinic myself.
