Howdy all,
I’m new here. I’m 40 (turning 41 in May), and my fiancé is 40. We’ve been TTC since July of 2017, and started seeing a RE in February. The RE (Dr. Brain Berger at Boston IVF) wants to go straight to IVF. Luckily we live in Massachusetts and health insurance pays for up to 6 rounds of IVF.
I just did my Clomid Challenge, CD3 and CD10 blood work, and a HSG. HSG was good, no tube blockage. My CD3 FSH was 8.69, CD10 (after 100 MG of Clomid) FSH was 7.68, and my AMH is 1.56. We have a follow-up appointment on 4/10 with the RE where we will talk about scheduling the first IVF.
IVF is still pretty new to me, I’m still learning all the lingo! I wish IVF wasn’t necessary, but I feel very lucky to have insurance coverage…this wouldn’t be financially possible for us otherwise.
Anyway, “hi”.
(the "new discussion" window seems to be doing weird things, so I apologize if the spacing is weird in this post)
Re: Newbie - about to start IVF

I just finished my second IUI and I'm now starting the process of IVF. I'm in a similar boat (ready siggy) and I'm hoping to have some success. I think they said the actual ER and transfer would be about mid May. Like you, my company's insurance plan has a special program that miraculously covers a good portion of infertility. I go tomorrow morning for my baseline US and prescreening labs. I'm told that they'll be doing a SIS (saline infusion sonohysterography) either later this week or next week. I was hopeful that IUI would be all I needed, but after this second one failed, the nurse told me that based on my age (40) and AMH (0.8) that the chances of the IUI being successful statistically was only 15%... which I kinda wish they would've just told me in the first place, but that's okay. I tell you this to let you know that the fact that they skipped straight to IVF isn't bad. The success rate is better and it may ultimately save you time, money and heartache. Hang in there
TTC since roughly Aug 2014
DX: unexplained - never been pregnant
Fibroids (4), but they don't appear to be causing any issue
HSG 2016 = all clear
Feb 2017 IUI + clomid and trigger shot = BFN
AMH 2018 = 0.8
Semenanalysis 2018 = easier just to say it's adequate
March 2018 IUI + Femara 2.5mg x 10, 10,000 unit Pregnyl trigger, Progesterone suppositories 200mg nightly = BFN
Supplements/Vitamins I'm taking daily:
Thanks for all the info!
@mich_elle Good advice about reading through the older IF threads, thanks!
I'll join the Monday check-in thread, and the May IVF thread.
