Wednesday Ticker Change (4/4)

Ticker change simply means that you have started a new week of pregnancy.  For example, I go from 13 weeks to 14 weeks on Wednesday 4/4, so my “ticker” changes on Wednesdays. It is our way of marking a milestone. 


Questions stolen from Sunday.  Also, a big shout-out to mesamyt, who comes up with the fantastic GTKY question each week.

    1. How many weeks are you? What size is baby?

    14, a stick shift knob

    2. How are you feeling?

    Pretty good; no nausea, my gag reflex is mostly behaving.  Round ligament pain is super fun, and I miss being able to go straight back to sleep after I put the dog out at 5am  

    3. Any appointments this week?

    Dentist today.  Next OB appointment is in a couple weeks.

    4. Rants/raves/questions?

    The self selection factor on doulas seems to be pretty high.  I initially contacted 6 doulas, I’m now down three without more than exchanging emails.  :(

    5. GTKY: If you could travel in time and to any location, where would you go and / or who would you want to meet?

    I would probably travel to the British isles either during pre-Roman era or the middle ages. We romanticize it so much, it would be interesting to see the reality.  As for people- Alfred the Great of Wessex, or the Celtic queen Boudica. 

    ETA - my 3hr glucose test came back in normal range.  Repeat at 28weeks. :)

    10 weeks (finally double digits), strawberry

    2. How are you feeling?

    Normal mostly.  RLP and gagging when brushing teeth otherwise nothing.

    3. Any appointments this week?

    Not until next week.

    4. Rants/raves/questions?

    I started looking into breast pumps, doulas and registry overall and I just quit because I don't want to do it all over again.  Maybe I should just get a baby box and a car seat - back to basics!

    5. GTKY: If you could travel in time and to any location, where would you go and / or who would you want to meet?

    Does Heaven count, I'd really love to meet up with my dad and let him meet his new grandchild.

    Eartly place - just give me a beautiful beach and I'm happy!  I do not wish to go back in time or technology.  I love washing machines, dishwashers, and civil rights!

    14 weeks! Peach!

    Pretty good. RLP and headaches but no nausea. More energy I think too.

    3. Any appointments this week?

    No, not for a few weeks. I do have a call scheduled with a midwives collective I am considering switching to.

    4. Rants/raves/questions?

    My husbands carrier results came back negative which is a huge relief! 

    5. GTKY: If you could travel in time and to any location, where would you go and / or who would you want to meet?

    I’d be really interested going to Eastern Europe in the 20s and 30s to meet my Eastern European family before they came to the US/ for those who stayed before they were killed in the holocaust.

    Tired, nausea is not as bad but the gagging seems to be never-ending (pretty much same as last time).

    3. Any appointments this week?

    I had one on Monday and got to see the little bean.  I also had my labs for genetic screening so now we are waiting on those!

    4. Rants/raves/questions?

    none really

    5. GTKY: If you could travel in time and to any location, where would you go and / or who would you want to meet?

    I would also choose heaven.. yesterday was 25 years since my baby sister had passed.  I always wonder who she would be and would love to see how she would look today.

    1. How many weeks are you? What size is baby? 12 weeks!  Baby is the size of a large tomatillo.  or a small persimmon.  (i'm obviously having summer garden daydreams over here while i watch the snow fall....)

    2. How are you feeling? mostly nauseous in the evenings, but i think i need to start eating better.  My emotions are still all over the place, and i cry multiple times a day for no good reason.

    3. Any appointments this week? I don't see the doctor for two weeks, but this week i am going to reserve the spot at daycare for our new little one.  I am so glad not to go through the daycare hunt again, that was the worst part for me with our first.  

    4. Rants/raves/questions? I had an unexpected emotional reaction to finding out the sex yesterday, and my own lameness really upset me.  But, i had an even stronger reaction to my husband not buying cream cheese, so i'm going to chalk it up to uncontrollable hormones.  The more i thought about it, i realized i have no idea what this baby could be like AT ALL.  Even with one baby at home, i am as clueless as ever.  Wise mom words for you all.  

    5. GTKY: If you could travel in time and to any location, where would you go and / or who would you want to meet? How can i answer this???  Gah, can i just narrow it to top three? Ok, now that i have stopped crying from @tropical1982 's response:

    1. I'm obsessed with Downton Abbey, so 1920 Yorkshire is a MUST.

    2. Since it is the 50 year anniversary of MLKJr's assassination, it would be amazing to back and time and be there for his mountaintop speech.

    3. Little house on the prairie.  Everywhere that Laura Ingalls Wilder went.  Actually, could i just BE her?

    @jengibre_zorro Even though I was hoping for a boy (and we are having one), there was a small part of me that felt sad that it's not a girl. You're right, we have no idea who these babies will be. I think it was more of a "this is it! you're having a boy! and you might not have another child, so this is what you're getting". It's not a gender disappointment thing at all. Like you said, I think it's all the hormones!

    @sammierose464 - i think you nailed it!  It is overly emotional to think that this is my last child.  Not that we are 100% sure on that, but we are older and we both work, so we would have to really make some changes if we do this one more time.  And i just can't handle that this is the last of everything!  (ugh, here i go again!!)

    11 weeks and baby is the size of a lime. 

    2. How are you feeling?

    The morning sickness keeps coming and going. I'll be feeling a lot better, then BOOM! sick again. Aversions are still going strong, but otherwise I'm good. 

    3. Any appointments this week?

    I have my "first" OB appointment this week.  Since I had a large baby last time, they say I'm at a higher risk for gestational diabetes, so I'll need to do the test for that on Friday as well. I thought it was weird since I didn't have gestational diabetes last time, but apparently I'm at risk. 

    4. Rants/raves/questions?

    Nothing that I can think of. 

    5. GTKY: If you could travel in time and to any location, where would you go and / or who would you want to meet?

    I've always thought that it would be cool to go to high school in every daycare in say the past 100 years.

    Pretty awesome. The nausea and fatigue is gone, and I’m starting to get that glow :)

    Not this week... next appointment is on the 11th

    We took a road trip from BC to California this weekend, and got to hike in the redwood forest - it was a great impromptu baby moon

    My degree is in ancient history so probably Ancient Greece to see how accurate our interpretations are

    @tropical1982 I’m also finding all the research overwhelming - good thing we have so much time for it!

    @rc-cola Are you switching from an OB or from another midwife?

    @drb2424 How long until you get the screening results?

    @jengibre_zorro Sorry the hormones are so rough right now

    @Sailing_Mama switching from an OB. I was going back and forth for awhile because I was starting to like her more  and the hospitsl is half way between home and work, but I heard great things about a midwife collective closer to my house AND they take my insurance and as a FTM I’m likely to have some time to get there if I do need to leave from work. Just spoke to them and they seem awesome. Made an appointment in 2 weeks.

    And your trip sounds awesome! Love the redwood forest and hiking!

    @sailing_mama I had them done on Monday 4/2 and my OB said 7-10 business days so that would be the results coming in by 4/16! I'm keeping my fingers crossed for good news :)

    Tired. I started a new job yesterday. Totally not used to being on my feet all day anymore. Also suuuper hungry lately. More than usual.

    Nope

    None right now. Everything is pretty good :) which is a lot coming from me lol usually I got something to BF about.

    Back to the 70s. Just so I could see Pink Floyd and Zeppelin live in their prime. Maybe Hendrix too. That would be a dream come true.

    A day late, but here we are!

    14 - peach sized

    2. How are you feeling?

    Feeling mostly better this week, which means I’ve been staying up later. Now I’m tired, lol

    Nope. Weird.

    Is it remotely possible to hide this from work ‘til mid June? Really tempted to try...

    5. GTKY: If you could travel in time and to any location, where would you go and / or who would you want to meet?

    Ancient Greece or Ireland. I’d love to see if the reality matches my thesis theories! Wouldn’t stay, though, because like @tropical1982 I like my washing machine and indoor plumbing :) 

    @Sailing_Mama the impromptu baby moon sounds awesome! Also, glad to see another history major!
