How did you and your partner meet? DH and I met in high school. We hung out with the same group of people but barely spoke to each other until college, when we became really close and started hanging out all the time. I had thought he wanted to take things to the next level but nothing ever happened, so one night in my junior year I finally asked him if he liked me as more than a friend and he admitted that he did for some time. We've been together ever since   

How long have you been together/married? We've been together 13.5 years and married for 7.5 years!

How did you and your partner meet? High school sweethearts! I didn’t like him much freshman year (he asked too many questions in Biology which I now know is SO him!) but by sophomore year we were hanging out in the same group. He asked me to a concert in the spring “because none of our friends would like it” and the rest is history.

How long have you been together/married? Together for 15 years in May, married for 8 years in June.

How did you and your partner meet?

We were musicians at the time and lived in a tiny little music/college town in Georgia. I was opening for his band at a little show in this basement bar on the 4th of July. I always think it's so comical that I met my husband that night because it was SO HOT and I was covered in sweat, lol. But apparently he had seen me around town and approached me. We had a great conversation, I lost a bet we made and the punishment was that I "had" to go on a date with him the following Monday. I happily did, we went on 5 more dates that week and we've been together ever since.

How long have you been together/married?

July 4th 2018 will be 10 years since that night we met, and we just celebrated our 5 year wedding anniversary at the end of March.

How did you and your partner meet? We met through my best friend. I was hanging out with her and she wanted to meet up with some other friends at a bar. I didn’t want to go, but I did. I told her I’d go for a little bit and ended up out all night. I had fun despite myself, and he asked me out to my favorite restaurant since he had accidentally thrown away my food that night when I had gone to get a to go box (late night food).

Husband and I met via OkCupid. Ever the feminist, I made the first move (asked him for lemon bars recommendations, because he indicated an interest in desserts and Chicago eateries). Our first date was at Margie's Candies (which is actually an old fashioned ice cream shop), and my first impression of him was "Oh God.... He's a hugger." Second impressions were that he was kinda hot and super enthusiastic, and that I could use a good deep dicking  so he got a second date. 

For all his flaws, my guy is a lot of fun, which is what first kept me around. He makes me laugh every day. He's very family oriented (not a mama's boy, but he made it clear from the get-go that his family was #1) and deeply concerned about doing right by his friends (he's the guy who won't ever forget your birthday, and who will show up to your dad's funeral even if he hasn't seen you in person in five years). His weaknesses are my strengths and vice versa, so while we don't always have it all together, I do feel like we make each other better versions of ourselves.

Together now almost 6 years, married for a little over 3.

How did you and your partner meet?

We both started work at a bar the same night. I was on cover and he was a bouncer and was stationed by my cover stand. We talked all night. We exchanged numbers the next day so he could use my driveway to park since I live close to work. Sunday night it was basically just us in the bar and we got to know each other even more. We were friends for about 5 months before I agreed to go on a date (best decision I could have made!).

We met at work. He'd been there for a few years already and on my first day he came in to our training orientation, sat down next to me, and told everyone that me and him are going to get married one day. I remember hating him (I thought he was so cocky and full of it) I spent the next three months being chased all over the store by him. Then one night he got arrested for fighting and called my phone to ask if I could bail him out. I was so surprised that of all the people, he'd call me, knowing how I felt about him. So I left him in there for the night and the next day I bailed him out. lol. He wasn't mad, he thought it was funny it and I eventually warmed up to him ever since then. Once I got past his big-headedness, I learned hes actually the nicest guy in the world and spends all his free time helping others. Turns out hes the mellow, stable, down-to-earth one in the relationship.

We've been together for almost six years, married for 6 months. Our anniversary is the same day as both of our birthdays: December 5th

We met in graduate school at University of Kentucky in 2011.  We had the same adviser and had desks next to each other in the grad student office.  It took us a whole semester to even hang out as part of a group.  The next semester we started finding excuses to hang out with each other one-on-one.  We spent our spring break in a van driving around Florida (Panhandle all the way to the Everglades) as part of a travel course (I was on "research hours" at the time, which meant I wasn't taking classes for credit hours.  I had to convince the professor to let me go even though I wouldn't be getting any credit for the course.  He obliged since it was one more person to split the costs, and I think he knew why I wanted to go ).   That was in March of 2012 and we have been inseparable ever since.  Got married in October of 2017.

How did you and your partner meet? We grew up in the same small town. We didn’t really start talking to each other until I was a sophomore and he was a junior, although he tells me that remembers me being mean to him when we were like 6, lol. 

How long have you been together/married? We have been together for 16 years and this June we celebrate our 10 year wedding anniversary!

My husband interviewed me for my first job out of grad school!  It was a full day interview with lots of people talking to me, so he was just one of them and not really the decision maker.  I got the job.  It was a boarding school, which is a bit of a strange place.  We started dating secretly halfway through my first year when I was living on campus and there was a lot of gossip among the students about it.  We got married 2.5 years later and we'll be married two years in August.

How did you and your partner meet? We met through my roller derby teammate. He was her roommate and apparently set his sights on me when he saw our league pictures. I wasn't emotionally ready for a relationship, so it took a few month to actually start dating, but once we did we were inseparable.

@gracie4400 My DH and I have nearly the exact same story! Except he always had a crush on me in high school and I was only interested in bad boys. Haha. We got very close sophomore year of college and I asked him out. At this point I had broken his heart too many times for him to try to ask again, I think. We’ve been together ever since with a few growing pains here and there. Together 13.5 years. Married 3.5 years.

My husband and I met at a bar while hanging out with mutual friends. He asked his friend about me who promptly “claimed” me even though I had already made it quite clear I had no interest. We met a few times after that and about a year after first meeting we actually started dating. I didn’t really think it would work out because he’s older (by 13 years) and I didn’t think we’d have anything in common. I was wayyy wrong about that! We are happily together for 7 years, married for 4 next month.

DH and I met on eharmony. We emailed back and forth for about a month before meeting in person. Neither of us had high hopes as we were not getting along the best via email. I thought he was trying too hard and he thought I was stuck up! But we ended up spending about 3 hours just sitting and talking, and then made plans for a 2nd date that same night. We got married exactly one year later. We'll be celebrating our 4th anniversary next month!

We met at a Halloween party.. in November. lol He was my best friend (at the time) brother in law.. I remember the moment I laid eyes on him I said to her, “I’m going to marry that guy one day.” It’ll be 11 years this November and we’ve been married for 7 years and two months!

My senior year of high school, a friend of mine gave me the number of a guy that she wanted to set me up with. We started talking and texting back and forth and reallly hit it off. When we decided to meet in person for the first time, my friend was shocked to see him. Turns out, she gave me the wrong Tyler’s number!

We have been together almost 10 years. We celebrated 5 years of marriage last December.

He was my cousin's best friend so I've known him since I was about 10. I lived in a different state but saw him off and on throughout the years. He and my brother got to be very good friends in college and so once I moved to the same state, he was around even more. Even still, if you had told me that he and I would start dating at 28 I would've thought you were crazy! We ran in to each other at a football game and were probably both a little drunk and he asked me to go to a party with him the following weekend. I really thought it was just going to be a fling but then my grandma died 3 weeks later and he was by my side through it all (even though we hadn't told anyone in my family we were dating) and I knew then he was the one. 

How long have you been together/married?

We've been together 6 years this month and will be married 3 years in November.

She was in my younger brother's girlfriend's social circle/roommate in college.  I saw a pic of their group and asked who she was, so my brother's gf gave us each other's msn messenger.  We chatted on that for a while before all three of them came to my college town for a weekend of skiing and hockey games.  We hit it off, but then I took a teaching job in AZ, so moved 2000 miles away.  We survived long-distance until I moved back a few years later.

I was home from college one summer and my parents moved to a new house they had built and the project manager on the site was going through the checklist on my parents home so I ran into him a bunch of times. A eminen cd left in his truck and few dates later we stayed in touch through me going back to school a few hours away. Graduated and started dating again and that was all she wrote!

How did you and your partner meet? We meet at Jamboree in the Hills, a country concert in Belmont County Ohio.  Absolutely wasted in the field of campground D.  

The first time he saw me he told his buddy he was going to marry me.  I was playing flip cup with a bunch of guys, in a OSU hoodie (the team he hates the most) and wearing a eye patch because why not?  It was Sunday funday and I was screaming “Sunday, Sunday, sunday” (long story to that) and he claims that was it for him.  He didn’t let me out of his sight until I kicked him out of my Camp site at 4 am because nothing was gonna happen.  He chased me until NYE when I finally gave in to all of his charm! (Best resolution ever giving a guy in the friend zone a chance!!)  That’s how he tells the story.  

My version isn’t as sweet.  The first time I laid eyes on him, I saw a 300 lb football player doing a belly smacker into a baby pool in a very tiny tong at a wet T-shirt contest.  Was it hilarious yes, did I pretend gag, absolutely.  (I didn’t know he was that guy until months later.  But I should have known because he will do anything for a laugh.)  That same night, a very drunk guy followed me around, he was nice but I wanted no part of it, my friend was trying to hook up with one of his buddies and I had just got out of a 10 year on and off relationship with my high school sweetheart.  At 4 am, I kicked him out of my camp site and though that was the end, until the next morning at a gas station 50 miles a way. I heard him say “good morning campers”.  In the day light, more sober, I noticed how warm and kind he really was. (Everybody loves him, it’s almost annoying, he is everyone’s best friend and has been a best man 19 times) I automatically put him in the friend zone but was willing to give him my number when I realized we lived in the same city.  We started to hang out as friends even though I was openly going on dates with randoms.  He never gave up on me despite everyone telling him too.  I seriously thank God every day for him!!  He is so good, kind, sweet, he feels like home, protective, supportive, funny to a fault, I feel like I don’t deserve him but we are 100% meant to be!!  

How long have you been together/married? It will be 11 years this NYE!  Married for seven years on 10/1.

@katy0990 That is so funny! My dad's side of the family has a similar story. I think it was his grandparents? Basically someone met (or maybe saw?) someone else and thought they were cute, then decided to start writing letters but it got sent to the wrong sibling

@mcgeeva thanks!  It definitely makes me believe a higher power had a hand in it all!  I wasn’t in a great place when we meet and I wasn’t always the nicest but he didn’t care!  He only every had on serious girlfriend before me and said he wouldn’t date anyone until he found the one!!  I’m a very lucky girl!!

I was a tumbling instructor while in grad school, and my one friend/coworker invited me to go to a Halloween party with her.  I had just gotten out of a 2 1/2 year relationship in August, so I was more inclined by that time to meet people.  The whole evening I was talking with her about who was available when someone walked in and I asked who it was, it was her brother, and I asked for permission to talk to him.  She chuckled and said sure. We exchanged numbers that evening and went on our first date a week or two later. We were "official" maybe 2 or 3 weeks after we met, and have been together ever since.  

Its funny to me because we met at Halloween, moved in together over July 4th weekend, and got engaged at Christmas.  I guess we like holidays.

How long have you been together/married?

We've been together 8 years this Halloween and married 2 1/2 years.

Side note: Have we talked engagement stories?  I know we did weddings, but that might be a fun GTKY next week.

How did you and your partner meet?

We met on Facebook via high school.
We went to a huge high school together, but only had one class together. We didn't talk, but recognized each other's names on Facebook. So we were internet acquaintances for about ten years. One day he sent me a message, but I loathe FB Messenger, so we moved to emails. We emailed each other every day for the remainder of his deployment. When he came back from Afghanistan we met up for breakfast in our hometown and began our two-week long roadtrip date (New Mexico, Texas, Louisiana, and Mississippi)!

How long have you been together/married?
Together since December 2012, married since (December) 2014. It seems that we're really into December

How did you and your partner meet?

We met at work. We were both working at Wendy's at the time while I was finishing up undergrad. We only worked together for about 6 months before he left for another job. He asked me out once during that time, but I declined because I thought he was too old (he's 8.5 years older than me)! We hung around with the same people and still saw each other often over the next 2 years or so for poker nights, bowling, holidays, birthdays, etc. One night when we went bowling for a mutual friend's birthday, he commented on how I had colored my hair red and that he really liked it! I was impressed that he noticed and I thought, maybe I should give him a chance. 2 weeks later, I asked him out to the movies and the rest is history! We were engaged 3 months later!

We've been together just over 10 years - we announced our pregnancy on FB on our 10-year anniversary, June 21st! And we've been married for 8.5 years!

My DH and I met at a frat party my sophomore year of college. His first sight of me was sitting in a frat room full of dudes and I was chugging a Busch light playing the drinking game "thunder struck". Pretty classy I know. I think when our LOs ask us how we met I will say the library lol. We spent the whole night together and he asked me the next day to go to a wedding with him where I met his whole family. We were head over heels ever since.

We met at my first job, he was my co-worker. I was 17 and he was 25 so he didnt acknowledge my existence until I turned 18. He didnt know until later I had a major crush, I thought he was such a sexy marine, big tough man. Ive always fantasized about military men lol. We started talking the day I graduated, because He needed girl advice for a current fling. They obviously didnt work out, then he and I started dating.
