This sounds totally ridiculous but I didn't even think of what we would do with DD/who will watch her when I go into labor. I'm so glad you guys brought it up
In response to the caffeine question, I definitely go over the recommendation some days. However, this is still significantly less than when I'm not preg. so I try to beat myself up about it
@melprop That's exactly what I'm worried about, DS rolling off a cot. It's why we haven't converted to a toddler bed yet, he's just too active in his sleep. I hadn't really thought about improvising something on the floor, though, that's a good idea.
@7425cait That's really nice that your mom has a dedicated kids room. I think my mom would like to do that, but we'll have to see what happens as my kids get bigger.
@Firemanswife11 Ha, we tried putting DS in bed with us on our last visit. It did not go well. He squirmed and wriggled and climbed all over us, all in the name of cuddles. We put up with it for an hour before we gave up and put him back in the tiny crib. He's never really been able to sleep with us, and even when he does, I don't. He's way too squirmy, asleep or awake.
@Secretstapler We visited DH’s sister for a week last summer. DH & I had the guest room. SIL tried to give DS her daughter’s bed, which ended in him screaming an hour later when he rolled out of bed. At that point I told SIL to let her daughter sleep in her own bed and made DS a bed on the floor with pillows and a sleeping bag. He slept like a rock for the rest of the week!
IDK if you have this issue with your DS, but he always snored and moved around a lot in his sleep. He had his tonsils & adenoids taken out soon after that vacation d/t them being huge, and I’m amazed at how much it changed his sleeping. He doesn’t snore nearly as much now, and he successfully sleeps in a twin bed. The last time he slept with me when DH was away, he still tried to turn sideways but didn’t move in his sleep nearly as much as he used to.
@Secretstapler I forgot to add that we converted him to an IKEA toddler bed with bed rail on one side. The other side of the bed was against the wall. The rail kept him from falling out of bed, and even if he did it was only about a 6” drop. He slept in it from about 2yo to 6.5yo, since IKEA’s toddler beds are longer than the traditional ones.
@lalala2004 we're planning on getting him a "big brother" shirt to wear to the hospital. Other than that my mom is watching him and has pretty much everything at her house.
How far along are you? What size is baby? 21w 4d, an endive?
Age(s) of other kid(s)? 14m
How are you feeling??? Getting better, finally back in a workout routine which always helps with my energy and mood.
Rants/Raves Rant: DS is biting again which sucks because I thought he had grown out of it and well I hate being bitten.
Rave: DH booked me a maternity spa package for my birthday and I'm soooo excited.
Questions Anyone had any success in getting your kid to stop biting? He does it both when he's upset and sometimes because he thinks it's funny. Turning our backs use to be helpful but now that he's more mobile he just follows us...
GTKY: What is/are your kid/s interested in right now? Trains and things with wheels
@melprop Hm, DS moves a lot in his sleep and breathes pretty loudly, but he doesn't snore. I have been assuming it's just toddler squirminess. I'll keep it in mind, though, if he doesn't settle down in the next few years. We do have a toddler rail to convert the crib at home to a bed. We just have to decide it's time.
@laufisch DS actually has a mat just like that at daycare, and it didn't even occur to me for overnights! That's a really good idea. Honestly, I think he'll probably roll off of it, but at least he's already on the floor.
