Questions? [4/1]

Re: Questions? [4/1]

  • @bearmoons With DD, I had a c-section and asked for a binder before I left the hospital. It was well worth it. I couldn't tell you anything about what kind it was, but I am glad I had one, for sure.

  • @bearmoons I got a binder from the hospital and then purchased two through bellefit. I did however have a c section. I loved the compression aspect of it though and will definitely be using them again whether I have a RCS or not.

  • @bearmoons I’m having a RCS and bought one on Amazon. I have stairs in this house now so I want to feel “pulled together” as much as possible. Lol
  • @kfren @sunshineandwhiskey @starla487 thanks for the feedback. It makes sense to me after a c-section, for sure. Even if just to remind you not to overdo it.
  • @bearmoons I forgot to ask about one after my first csection. But I plan on asking my hospital, at my hospital tour next weekend, if they give them out. if not, I will definitely be buying one and taking it. I'm alittle worried how it'll feel on the incision. But if so many woman like them, it must not be bad.

  • @catlady1215 I would think you could wear it in a way that the bottom portion of the binder would be below your incision, so that the edge of the binder would not rub on the incision.
  • I feel like maybe I've asked this before - or someone else did? - so if this is a repeat, just let me know lol

1 - when does baby drop?

    2 - I think my LO is hanging at the bottom of uterus/womb area. Lately it looks like my belly is more rounded at the bottom {you can only tell if my top is up and I'm standing sideways}
Typically no issues, but this morning it felt like tugging or pulling. As if she was trying to get lower than where she is. Nothing pressing into pubic bone, but more like she was pulling womb/uterus down.

    Anyone else experience this? Or know what I mean? {I swear I'm coherent most of the time}

Also, is this something that's important to mention to my OB?
  • @MissKittyDanger TB had a response in their weekly emails about this. If my memory is correct at this point baby can drop anytime and its no danger unless it accompanied by other signs of labor.

  • @ffw0617 I don't get emails from TB so I may look around the site.
I'm just about 31 weeks {tomorrow! Omg!} and what I saw is that typically 34 weeks they drop, but I know everyone is different :\
  • My daughter was up in my ribs for WEEKS, but somewhere after I passed the 32w-34w mark, I noticed the rib pain was mostly gone. So I think she “dropped” around then.

This one is already super low so I can’t imagine her being lower.
  • DS didn't drop until I was in labor.  I read yesterday that "dropping" / engagement typically happens later for STMs (which I thought was weird).
  • @LaceyBee522 - We've gone back and forth between Sam's Club Members' Mark wipes and Pampers Sensitive.

  • I think this was discussed somewhere else and if this should go on the shower board, let me know! My mom, MIL, SIL, and BFF are doing a sprinkle for me and DH in May. I'd like to do a little thank you gift for each of them for spending the time and doing this for us because they definitely didn't have to! For those of you ladies who did thank you gifts for your shower hosts/hostesses, what did did you do and how did you spend per person?

  • Spending levels can differ, @aharv77 - But I think I did a nice candle and hand lotion for each host for my bridal shower.  For my baby shower I gave my BFF a gift certificate for a pregnancy massage (she was pregnant too and we went together).

  • @aharv77 I'm planning to do a box of nice macaroons and a fancy bottle of wine for each of my hostesses. Estimating about $75 for each of them.

  • @aharv77 I got 3 little boxes of fancy gummy candy (champagne, sparkling rose, etc) from Sugarfina per hostess, and put them in Sugarfina's cute little Thank You boxes. I think it was like $30pp including the card and packaging or whatever (I had 4 formal hosts; DH still hasn't decided what he's doing, if anything, to thank his guy friends who ended up helping).
  • @aharv77 I got these personalized candle labels made on Etsy and put them on a BBW candle and a little four piece box of chocolates from a local place. Total was about $20 pp. Wait for the candles to be on sale and use a coup. I think my sister was feeling a little extra emotional that day because she cried when she saw the candle.

  • Ok so I found an Uppababy Mesa car seat and base on a BST group on FB for $80. For the base alone it’s a good deal. We already got a car seat so we would just use the base and keep the seat for just in case.

My my question is that it expires May 2021 so does the base expire the same as the seat? If so would it be better to just buy a new base so we can use it longer? This is our first so if we wait until this one is 2+ to have another, we might get another year use out of it but if we have a third we’d be screwed.

  • @krashke what @Austenista said. The only reason we have a used car seat is because it’s from a coworker that I whole heartedly trust. And even then I was hesitant. Car seats are definitely the one baby thing I really prefer to buy new.

  • Amazon completion discount:

Is it two orders that TOGETHER equal $2,000 or two orders that separately equal $2,000 so $4,000 total?
  • @doxiemoxie212 hmmm I always thought it was 2x $2000 orders equaling $4000 but it says “The discount can be used on up to two orders of $2000.00 US Dollars combined value” which makes me think both orders together must be less than $2000.
  • @becca_123 that would be a disappointing turn of events
  • Question: what’s considered too much movement? I’m trying not to overreact but for the last 2 hours its been nonstop. I know were suppose to monitor any sudden changes

  • Just echoing @Austenista about the used car seat. That is one of the biggest things where used is not recommended. You can’t tell if a car seat has been in an accident and if it has, or was washed wrong (the straps) it can degrade the protection

@ffw0617 I don’t think too much movement is a concern but I could be wrong. I’ve noticed I get more movement if I eat sugar or the LO is trying to change positions.
  • @ffw0617 my LO moves constantly, never stops. My doctors just laugh and say, “good luck when she’s born bc that’ll continue.”

On the flip side, you have a baseline for if something is wrong. (EG baby stops moving for a long period of time = go in and get checked.)
  • Thanks for the responses. Glad I didn’t overreact.

  • Unless I'm missing something obvious, what's the difference between buying smaller bottles versus larger ones? I'm looking at the Comotomo ones and I figured I could just buy all of them in the larger 8 ounce size? I've read babies are likely outgrow the 5 ounce ones in a couple of months and wasn't sure if they justified purchasing.
    BabyFruit Ticker
  • @silvergreen makes sense to me. DD had bad reflux so we only ever got to 6 ounces of BM or formula by 10 months old so the smaller ones were fine for us, but you may outgrow them quickly.
  • @katie121209 Thanks! I saw it recommended somewhere to get 12 bottles so it's a little pricey!
    BabyFruit Ticker
  • @silvergreen 12 bottles?? I thought we were only supposed to get 1-2 until we know which one LO will even take....?
  • @doxiemoxie212 Uhhh, valid point!!
    BabyFruit Ticker
  • @silvergreen I bought 8oz bottles, 3 of them for both kids. And I formula fed- so I don't know why anyone would need 12. I just washed them out after every feeding (Except at night when I was tired).
  • @May14th2011 I was reading an article on Baby Center that recommended buying 4-12. I'm guessing they assume you initially feed every couple of hours so if you washed them just once a day it works out to be 12?
    BabyFruit Ticker
  • @silvergreen that makes sense. I know a lot of people prefer to wash bottles once a day instead of every time/ every couple of hours

I would add the variable of freely hand washing or if you're going to use the dishwasher and wait for a full load...you may have more bottles out of commission while you wait for a full load

  • We bought 3 of the smallest size, of 2 brands, for now. Figure we'll see what he likes/hates before buying more or the bigger ones.

We have all ds' bottles. And could have just bought new nipples. But the 2 brands we had had so many lil parts to clean, it drove us nuts. So we found 2 without parts lol.

  • We needed 6-8 bottles for DS most days when he went to daycare (they didn’t wash bottles).
