Easter & Halloween time are always the two times of year I wished I had kids. There’s so many festivals in the fall and egg hunts in the spring and I’d be weird to go alone without a kid. I saw a flyer for an egg hunt today that has free cotton candy, hot dogs and snow cones (all things I love) but I’d look so out of place childless.
@ffw0617 you're not childless! You just have yours very much attached to you! I vote go anyways and score some snow cones.
AFM we have family plans all weekend but I'm still trying to relax and enjoy these two days because I start work on Monday. Not gonna lie, it's been pretty nice to be unemployed for the past month.

This morning poured curdled h&h (date said 4/27 but it lies, apparently) into my coffee. Fortunately, I noticed before I drank it. That was an extreme disappointment. But then I decided this meant I could go to Starbucks to redeem my sadness. Grande cafe Americano in a venti cup filled the rest of the way with h&h here I come. Since that debacle, I've cut DH's hair and assembled the boy's Easter basket. I'm excited to give him everything I put in it and not willing to wait until tomorrow.
We took him to get pictures with the Easter bunny last night and that was fun. I ran to Carter's to get him a cuter outfit while DH stood in line feeding him dinner. I came back in the nick of time* and dressed him while we waited. He's smiling at me instead of the camera in the picture, so I'm kicking myself still today that I didn't just snap some with my phone too. Oh well. He's got a picture for 2017 & 2018 and that's what I needed. I almost didn't bother this year, but not having one for this year and resuming next year with two would have bugged me. I need consistency.
Today we're going to go to BRU and see if any of the baby things we're needing this go around are left and discounted enough to make it worth our while to buy there instead of with Amazon's completion discount or BBB's 20% coupon. Main thing we need is a double stroller.
*Because this is the way I am, I looked up this phrase to make sure I was using and spelling it right (I know). Anyway, if anyone is like me, here's a very interesting article about it. [/nerding]
@ffw0617 go! No one will know if you have an older kid there that just ran off with a friend or something lol. After yesterday, you deserve it.
AFM ugh! Took ds to an Easter event at mil's church. It wasn't the best decision. He's extremely picky and won't eat candy, and can't get over the fact that Easter egg hunts involve candy in the eggs.. not toys. That made him upset. The craft tables were Easter crafts (surprise! Eh?) and didn't involve dinosaurs. That made him upset. And he wanted the lady painting faces to do a dinosaur... as we prepped him in line that she might not be able to, that made him upset. By then we were both done with each other and he kept telling me to go away. Which makes me upset. But he did enjoy the bounce house. And the actual hunting of the eggs when it was happening. Oh and he won a door prize... which, the most kid friendly one was plastic golf clubs and 2 gift certificates for mini golf & icecream cones (which he doesn't understand what a gift card is). So I told him him and daddy can have a man date.
He left there pissy saying it was a bad day. I told him he was being bratty (which I've neeeever said to him before) and told him he can sit out of all egg hunts tomorrow if he can't get over the candy thing. AND I guess we can skip trick or treating this yr since candy makes him so upset (he's obsessed with Halloween).
this child better nap today but that's so rare anymore.

DH's work put on an egg hunt for the kids in the company. There are only like 6 young kids, and they did probably close to 500 eggs, so we came home with probably 200 lol. The kids had a blast. I'm absolutely miserable today so I just sat and watched like a bump on a log, but the kids had fun and that's what mattered. We also had a food truck come on post so we got amazing chorizo breakfast burritos. Oh man, so good.
@catlady1215 I'm sorry about DS's Easter egg hunt experience FXed he naps for you.
@katie121209 Fun! We took DS (18 months) to his first egg hunt too.
I was so happy DS didn't burst into tears when he saw the Easter bunny today. We didn't have such great luck with Santa. He even cautiously went up to her and took an egg...a big step for our shy little guy
Love all the egg hunt stories ( @ffw0617 go and report back on all the yummy treats). We didn't do anything for DD for Easter this year- no trip to the mall bunny or any egg hunts. I pulled our baskets out of our storage shed today. I don't think she's going to understand the whole Easter thing this year, but we got her a dump truck since she loves playing with her toy car and I have plastic eggs I'm going to put cheerios in for her. I'm sure she will like shaking them more than eating the treats.
We are currently sitting at HR Block waiting to have our taxes done. The appointment before ours has gone over 45 minutes already- and I'm getting really annoyed. We owed last year so we better be getting money back this year.
@ffw0617 go! We took DS to the zoo this morning to meet the bunny and he ran around with H while I meandered aimlessly by myself. There were a lot of pregnant women doing the same thing.
I hope everyone else has fun meeting the bunny / with easter egg hunts, etc. DS met the bunny today. He was so excited until he actually met him and then he was terrified. What is it about people dressed up that terrify little kids?
Happy Easter everyone - it sounds like you're having great, family fun weekends. I'm just checking in! Won't be back fully until Monday as I just got back to my mom's house in Canada from England after a pleasant but tiring week with limited wifi and crappy data coverage but I tried really hard once a day to catch up on the threads and love tit as much as internet would let me. I fly home tomorrow night and I'll be back to business after that. On the other hand, basically all my travels are done, baby showers are over and I'm in single digit weekly countdowns. It's getting soooo real.
@May14th2011 I agree with @MoonOverGoldsboro - thick and slightly under baked for sure. Thankfully DH agrees, otherwise this marriage would never work
@jsl82 good luck with your taxes! Hopefully they see you soon.
AFM: my parents are visiting today and I have decided that there is no way I can handle my step mom staying with us for a week like she did with DD. Shes driving me bonkers.

@May14th2011 i like them like your picture but I don’t eat the middle sometimes the middle is too grainy for my texture pickiness. And slightly warm.... with vanilla icecream. I’m going way left
We did a bunch of running around today. Crossed some things off my list like an oil change, picking up the cats prescription food order and last minute stuff for Easter. Baking a copy cat Nothing Bundt cake now. Fingers crossed it turns out.
@moonovergoldsboro that first haircut is always hard I love longer hair on little boys, but ds has sooo much hair that it didn't look right at all. So I had to cave about 14 months. Such a sad day. He had this one big curl in the back also, loved it!

I've been browsing online a lot for maternity comfy dresses for may and after baby, since it'll be warm and pants will sound awful.
im seeing SO many off the shoulder dresses. I hate strapless bras as it is.. never found one I loved. And you want me to use one with possible big ol post baby boobs? (If I breastfeed/get a supply I should add)

@May14th2011 Those cookies look great. MH likes them thin too and we always get into that arguement when I bake them.
@MoonOverGoldsboro MH cut DS’s hair a couple weeks ago and I’m still not over it. He looks like he grew up like 6m.
@jsl82 Hope you didn’t end up owing anything on your taxes.
@catlady1215 I’m sorry DS didn’t have a good time at the egg hunt. It’s draining taking them to do fun things and they just don’t enjoy it at all.
AFM, we took the kids to an Easter egg hunt at my parents condo association. It was so well put together and the kids had a good time. DD loves the Easter bunny and DS didn’t cry, so that’s a win. I’m going to bake a banana upside down cake I saw on one of the Facebook recipe video things. I hope it turns out well!
@catlady1215 I keep seeing women who just gave birth on IG or FB wearing these off the shoulder dresses. I couldn’t wear them before pregnancy. There is no way pregnancy boobs or nursing boobs would stay in a strapless bra.
@May14th2011 those look delicious!! I would almost argue that they are thin though. I don't care too much about thickness, but agree with most that they should be soft not crunchy.
@amys614 let me know how the recipe turns out! I love nothing bundt cakes, so if it's a good copycat I would love to try it out!
Me 30 Him 30 Married August 2015 DS born 5/23/2018 TTC #2 July 2020
@catlady1215 confession this pregnancy is my first time wearing off the shoulder stuff with no bra. And prepregancy i had DDD but i feel like maternity stuff is form fitting on purpose which helps keep your boobs in place, plus there’s no way to control pregnancy boobs. Mine burst out the seams no matter what i do
@May14th2011 - So I'll gladly take YH's share, because those look really freaking delish. Are they super chewy? Does the chocolate still melt in your mouth? Please describe your experience so I can live vicariously through you.
We are done replacing our main floor floors, so have been moving things back into those rooms from the baby's room. I just can't seem to do much without getting totally exhausted, so it's slow going. You'd think I'd be freakishly motivated since our first shower is next Sunday. But I did some things and then passed out on the couch for 2 hours. My nausea has really amped up the last week again as well. I'm basically a slug, lol.
We have a family breakfast tomorrow, then an egg hunt for our nephew, though it's supposed to be about 35 tomorrow. Then we will head to my grandma's for my side and a late lunch. I'm excited to see everyone!
Finally got our taxes done and let's just say our return is good enough that I think I have DH talked into getting a king-size bed!!! We have a full now and being larger people, it isn't ideal. I'm having visions of myself, laying smack-dab in the center, spread eagle, surrounded by pillow after glorious pillow, fan going but me under the sheets, which are cool. Some people dream of travel, some of winning the lottery. I would say this is my dream, but my dream involves actually sleeping in it and at this point in time, that seems like a kinda lofty goal.
@catlady1215 I really like longer hair on boys, too, which is why I waited...but I finally had to acknowledge that his hair was always in his eyes. I wish there was a way to keep his long curls in the back but keep his bangs short, without going straight to mullet-town.
@dinodna3 It’s bananas how old he looks!! I’ve been calling him my teenage baby.
@kfren We have a queen now and it feels big enough, but I’ve often wondered if a king is worth it. I do love your vision! I do like sprawling out while sleeping and could do it way more with a bigger bed.
Anyone else switched from a queen to a king and want to weigh in? Did it make that noticeable of a difference?
Me: 34 Husband: 35 Married: June 2007

@kfren I was able to talk SO into a king last summer and I don't think I could ever go back. I hate being touched when sleeping because I'm a light sleeper so a king is perfect!
@May14th2011, I'll gladly take YH's share of those cookies. They look delish!
We did an egg hunt last weakend. DD is 2 so she isn't too quick on her feet. She got two eggs! Then we traded them in for chocolate but everyone got the same thing.
We celebrated my SD's bday today since she won't be with us on that day. I'm currently trying to decide if I should have another piece of ice cream cake!
@kfren@MoonOverGoldsboro you will not regret it. We went to cal king 2 years ago and I can’t say I’d ever willingly go back. The only debate I’d entertain is king vs cal king. We went with cal king because DH is a little over 6 ft. But they’re much harder to find sheets in store (at least locally for me).
@kfren I couldn't imagine life without a king size bed. DH insisted we get one because he's so dang tall he needs the extra length, but I was totally onboard because I hate being touched when I sleep
we did an Easter egg hunt last weekend with DD and DHs dad and step mom...it ended with DH and I having to tell them they needed to go elsewhere to cool off when they got mad at a 4 year old for taking an egg within a 5 ft radius of DD...it was extremely embarrassing. So needless to say we laid low this weekend and I think next years egg hunt will be a no grandparents event
@MoonOverGoldsboro we got a king bed after we got the house love it. You really have your own space while sleeping. If i may add we have an adjustable bed its great for pregnancy. I still don’t get great sleep but getting out of bed is much easier, as well as elevating your feet.
@kfren we got a king for as a wedding present and it is truly amazing! We were also rocking a full before that and I feel like going from full to king made it extra awesome. Now whenever we travel and the only option is a queen, we feel so cramped.
