1st Trimester

A bit concerned

Hi ladies, pray all is well.
I’m 7w2d today & had my 2nd Ultrasound 2day and dr seemed concerned that I’m measuring 6w6d and said to prepare for a possible miscarriage. Has anyone had this situation? She said heartbeat was good at 124... I’m freaking out. I go back next Tuesday for another scan... I’m new to all of this and mentally it’s a lot

Re: A bit concerned

  • First, thoughts and prayer with you and baby. I am sorry you're going through this.

Second, a slew of questions. I apologize if any of these come across insensitive, but you're asking for thoughts and so just trying to better understand the situation. Also, NOT a doctor so if you're super concerned I'd honestly go get a second opinion from another doctor (which may be where these questions lead anyway...)

    1. It's already your second ultra sound at 7w2d? When was your first? Were you measuring on schedule then and are now behind?
    2. Do you have other medical considerations that may add to the cause for concern? (understood if you don't want to share, but this can always impact things so just something to be mindful of)
    3. How sure are you of your dates? Were you temping/charting or just basing off of LMP? And how are your cycles normally?

  • I had an iui on 2/17
i found out 10dpiui which is SUPER EARLY.
My first Us was last week. Since I’m with a fertility specialist, they do SCans weekly. I was measuring fine last week
  • @_raeluvsya_ gotchya. My circumstances of tracking behind are very different, so I really can’t speak to anything, but do somewhat understand the worry you are feeling.

Will keep you in our prayers and hope that maybe things were just a bit off that day. Sounds like you are due for another scan next week, then? Hopefully things will look up.
  • I've always been told that ultrasound dating can vary by +/- 3 days and that's considered normal. At the heartbeat confirmation ultrasound for this pregnancy baby measured 3 days behind and the RE didn't have any concern with that. I did IVF so we knew exactly how many weeks she was. By the next ultrasound, 3 weeks later, she had caught up and maybe even measure a day ahead (can't remember for sure). So being slightly behind doesn't necessarily mean a miscarriage. Lots of sticky baby vibes, I hope this turns out for the best for you.
