Uterine fibroid

I've mentioned in another post that I have a lot of chronic abdominal pain and I have assumed it was from hydrosalpinx or a complication of it. It got so bad that I went to the ER yesterday. Because it's been chronic they didn't do much, but they did an ultrasound and found a uterine fibroid. Has anyone had one? I've read a little but I won't know much until I meet with my doctor on the 26th. The pain is on both my left and right sides of my lower abdomen so I really feel like more is going on, but I have no cysts on my ovaries and I'm pretty sure they can't spot adhesions on an ultrasound and that's what I'm suspecting may be causing such pain. The doctor did mention endometriosis and suggested I follow through with my provider and possibly get a lap to check, which I've been told will likely be my doctor's plan when I meet with her and I will likely ask her to remove my tubes if they're both damaged beyond repair. Do you know if a uterine fibroid would interfere with IVF? Will it to be removed if we proceed? It's very small.

@eatinwatermelonseeds I have had a tiny fibroid for years. It’s like 2cm big. The doctors are not concerned whatsoever. If it’s in the way the doctors will remove it but if it’s tiny they’ll probably leave it

@eatinwatermelonseeds I have had a fibroid for years. When I had my initial HSG & SHG done, it appeared as a "mass in my uterus". Those were scary words to hear, especially because my RE at the time refused to tell me what it could potentially be. After getting a second opinion along with a repeat SHG & 3-D u/s, it was determined that I had a fibroid in the ute muscle (not in the ute cavity) so they left it alone but I also had a polyp which was in the ute cavity and had a polypectomy for. My periods are crazy heavy and painful. I was told that it was partly due to the fibroid but also potentially to adenomyosis, although my OB/GYN at the time never investigated further. I would have them check you out and measure it. FX isn't not a big deal and will be fine right where it is. I have read that it can grow in response to fert meds so just ask about that too. GL!

I have fibroids and have thrice had them removed because they just keep a-comin... some of us are ok with leaving them and some of us (like me!) have to have them removed... only your doctor can tell you which you are. If you're concerned, you should ask your re to look into it... it could be important.

I have one and asked if my RE will remove it during my tube removal but he said because it’s intramuscular and only 1.5cm that he will leave it.  I do also have bad pain around ovulation and spot FOREVER basically in and off until the week before P and then anywhere from a week to a few days before P actually comes.  I wonder if there is a connection.

I hope, for your sake, that they find one so you have your answers and can find resolution!

I had surgery in December to remove 6 of them (open abdominal myomectomy). 1 was bigger than my fist. 2 more were the size of lemons. And the other 3 were smaller golf ball sized. I didn't have constant pain but had horrendous cramps and extremely heavy periods. My uterus was double the normal size and that gave me a constant bloated feeling.
My RE wouldn't even discuss my fertility plan options until they were removed (but they were taking up my entire uterus and having a successful pregnancy wouldn't have been possible). So for me it was have the fibroids removed or have a hysterectomy. I know many women proceed with treatments and carry successfully with small fibroids without needing surgery first.
