Anyone else live on a farm or hobby farm??

My husband and I are expecting our first baby in two months. We have lived on our farm for a year now. Mostly wooded acres but also pastures and barn with horses, chickens, our 4 dogs. I grew up on a working farm cows/horses/agriculture. Ours is less productive and busy in comparison, so I like to call ours a hobby farm. Besides chicken eggs and a garden we do not produce much, ha.  As it transitions into spring I am getting so nervous and excited for baby's arrival in May. But also still keep a running list of farm projects and maintenance we want to do over summer. It makes me anxious to know there are a lot of things we have to do regardless of extra projects just for basic upkeep, normal housework, and animal care while we will be getting in routine with new baby, but I am more so excited to be able to raise her around a similar setting that I loved growing up. Just wondering if any other users are also expecting or raising babies/kids on a farm!

  • I live on 4 acres and have chickens, garden, cats and dogs. Nothing crazy, but yeah there is a decent amount to do. Right now my biggest concern is getting things planted when I am physically useless. Luckily my mom lives across the way and helps out.

  • I've got a small homestead with chickens & a garden. Kinda nervous about how far behind I'll get on maintenance and care too but I just keep saying you got this lol. Good luck though you got a bit more going on. Hopefully you have some friends or family that might help?
  • I live on 80 acres with cows and 3 dogs. I have a vegetable garden and we plant crop on the property for the cows. I'm scheduled for c section Wednesday and still haven't planted my vegetables. I'm debating if I should do it before or after the baby. My husband has been plowing and planting on the other 350 acres the past few weeks and has hardly been home because he wants it done before baby. It's been stressful and a lot of work and I'm honestly wondering how we will keep up!!

I'd try and do it before if you can. Once baby gets here you'll be more focused on the baby and trying to sleep lol. Good luck though that's a lot of acres.
