I have been getting crazy bad knots in my calves that seize up the entire backside of my leg. They hurt for days, then disappear for a few days, and then come back. Im assuming these are the leg cramps everyone refers to. I drink a TON of water everyday and get my hubby to rub them, but I havent been able to find any relief. I'm just wondering if anyone else has experienced this and what you did to relieve it.

I used to get these. Avoid stretching your legs with your toes pointed and continue drinking lots of water. I had got to a point that I could feel one starting and flex my foot to prevent it. Mine went away almost immediately after giving birth.

I only get them while pregnant, they wake me up in the middle of the night especially if I’m dehydrated. Flexing and lots of water help, but don’t stop it all together for me. In fact I feel my calf tensing up just thinking about it now
I believe they can all be the result of needing more of a certain mineral. I believe it was either potassium or magnesium. Certainly something you could ask your dr about - if I'm remembering this correctly a supplement of one of those could help you out.

Magnesium. Absolutely start taking magnesium, but make sure it's magnesium glycinate or taurate which are the most effective for muscle cramps and don't have a significant laxative effect. The other, more common forms of magnesium (citrate, oxide, sulphate, etc) are more effective as a laxative than for cramps.
