selfishly started. I am not a fan of the term "natural" childbirth. I think I am extra sensitive now with having c sections. I just hate to think that mine will be considered "unnatural". I feel like terms medicated vs unmedicated or assisted vs unassisted birth sound better?
@lindsayleigh1989 I get what you're saying but I also think you're overthinking and internalizing a simple term.
My UO: Pitbulls do not belong in households with babies and young children. Yes, I bet your pit is soooo sweet till for some reason it snaps and mauls a child, then we hear about how it was so loving and everyone is so shocked. I see the same story time and time again. I was at a shelter with a friend a few months ago and saw a family with a newborn, toddler and small kid getting a large pit, it made me feel sick to see the kids being put in unnecessary danger.
@lindsayleigh1989 I hear you, I too think the terms natural and unnatural can unnecessarily create feelings guilt and shame...and how are we even defining natural and unnatural... I'm all for calling a spade a spade: vaginal delivery, cesarean section...that's it (unless there's some other unicorn third option lol...)
@runsomewhere Shockingly enough, Labrador Retrievers are more likely to bite a person (baby, child, adult, etc.) than a pitbull is. We just hear more about pitbulls because of the breed itself. Truly, the sweetest, most loving, well trained dog can attack someone. Chihuahuas are also known for being big biters towards little ones. I volunteer in a shelter and pitties and chihuahuas are the top 2 breeds being dumped. Its unfortunate when adopting one of these shelter dogs because we truly do not know their history.
@zombiehoohaa Yup, chihuahuas are significantly more likely to bite, as are other breeds but these breeds aren't mauling children and their owners to death. They just aren't. I don't hate bully breads and my heart breaks for all animals being dumped in shelters but the truth is these dogs do kill. It's sad and unfair to the breed as a whole but it's true.
@runsomewhere I can go on and on about this and rebutle till I turn blue in the face. However, I agree, its heartbreaking. The breed did not deserve this.
My UO...Men should not grow long hair, unless they are donating it for charity. The man bun is gross. I want to carry scissors with me and cut every man bun I see.
@zombiehoohaa I'm with you...unless they are Kurt Cobain...lol...but def no man bun!
@lindsayleigh1989 I'm totally with you on this one. We actually get corrected a lot in prenatal yoga because of you say "natural" to mean "unmedicated" you're implying that if you get an epi or c section your birth isn't natural...may be a bit of nit picking but I agree:)
@lindsayleigh1989 I agree! I don't love those terms either. Most medical professionals (at least here) don't even refer to it as "natural" childbirth, they use the medical/technical term so it's just a slang term used by the general population I feel.
@zombiehoohaa I also volunteer with our local animal shelter and we unfortunately have BSL in place (can't own pitbulls in city limits) and it is so sad.
@lindsayleigh1989 I always get confused when people say "natural"... like do you mean vaginal vs csection or unmedicated vs medicated? Like why can't we just use those terms?
oo mine's a doozy - I hated breastfeeding. There I said it. I know so many women who LOVE it and thought it was the best thing every, DD was an "inefficient feeder" who was on the boob for 40 min, off for 15, then wanted to go right back, on so I just felt like a walking food truck most of the waking day. You never hear moms admit if they just don't like it, so I felt guilty as hell. Made it almost 9 months before I stopped, I gave myself permission when the dr's figured the breastfeeding was contributing to my back issues getting worse.
@zombiehoohaa@runsomewhere solid examples of men with beautiful man buns/long hair. No one seems to watch this show but the lead character in The Last Kingdom is beautiful with his long hair but I bet he would be STUNNING with shorter hair.
My UO is that while I 100% champion not making people feel bad about themselves and always trying to come from a place of inclusion, I think that we are too quick to jump on people and assume they are saying something that is a personal affront to us. The idea that I can accidentally say "natural" or "gender" and make people insane to the point of it insulting their personal life choices is so frustrating. I honestly try my best not to do things that make people feel bad about themselves and respect that I can always do my part to make people feel good about who they are and what they have been through, but I wish people also understood that unless someone is openly mocking your gender or your "unnatural" birth (if anyone uses that term then eff them) or whatever else that applies to you either knowingly or unbeknownst to them, that its probably not coming from a place of malice. We should give EVERYONE the grace to make mistakes out of sheer ignorance and always try to assume that people are coming from a good place, not a place of personal affront. So basically I think everyone is too sensitive, and this includes me at times!
Whew, sorry for the book!
ETA: Meh I just googled the guy from Last Kingdom and he looks too pretty with the short hair. He's way better with the Last Kingdom long hair look.
@gingerbride26 I totally get it, I think that was actually my FFFC last week. Don't feel guilty! There are definitely moms out there that are open about not liking it.
@SmashJam I definitely don't get offended by either of those terms unless someone is purposely using it maliciously. But I honestly get confused when people say "natural." Are they talking about the presence of meds or the route as to which the baby comes out? And usually it would be super awkward to ask, especially if you aren't that close with them lol.
@SmashJam yeah I have no issue with people who dont say it intentionally. I've just seen a lot of posts on other sites of people almost bragging about their "natural birth" those are the ones that bother me more
I don’t like man buns or the phrase “natural birth”. I like it when public restrooms have seat covers. I’ve noticed that they are not used often even since moving out of Cali especially in other countries. If there aren’t any i put paper on the seat anyways. I hate the thought of bare butt. An on that topic if hovering, ladies need to look and clean their mess. It still platers and that’s just gross.
@zombiehoohaa I loved the first season but haven't watched past that yet. I like to think I am the kind of person who could read the books too but they might be too dry and battle heavy for me, haha.
RE: pit bulls, it’s not the breed, it’s the owner and the poor dogs upbringing. I hate the bad rep they get. That being said I wouldn’t adopt an adult dog from a shelter regardless of the breed with small children in the house.
@SmashJam I gave in...I'm watching The Last Kingdom now...I agree...he is easy on the eyes with his long hair. It goes with the time of the show, though. He's even better with short hair:
@gingerbride26 I hated BFing too, and admittedly it was easy for me other than the initial pain. As soon as we hit the one year mark, I started weaning her. Thankfully that was a lot easier on my daughter than I expected.
With that being said, I will do it again on this baby. My husband is extremely pro BF and tbh he didn't give me much of a choice on our first one. But the real reason I am sticking to it for a year is I am too cheap and lazy for formula.
I don't fault anyone for not doing it. I felt like a huge, leaking milk cow the entire time, and I was an overproducer at that.
@Lelo2006 hahah I feel you. I going to try and go med free (ftm wishful thinking lol) but I am fully aware I will be getting an epidural bc I am a wimp lol
@zombiehoohaa that is a much better pic than I found. He does look good there! This is the one I saw where I was like, meh. Let me know if you like the show!
My UO: I hate high heels. I only wear them when attending weddings and even then I ditch them for bare feet the second we enter the reception. They’re just so uncomfortable! And when you read about how bad they are for your back, feet, posture, etc...just no.

I'm sure they're also bad, but I've grown to love wedges!!!
@tarheelgirl8 me too! I used to be able to wear them all the time and now I just can’t. Thank goodness for flats, ankle boots, chunky heels and wedges.
Okay so so here is my UO. I dislike the term and hashtags #girlboss #bossbabe I don’t know if it’s the people who use it to refer to themselves or the actual sayings. The people I find that tend to use this are a lot of times the ones working for the pyramid style companies who sell for these companies and make it seem like they run their own show. I get that they do make their own hours and have to push sales and like to put an image out their to recruit more women to work under them but it’s not the same as people who’ve put their blood sweat and tears to start their own companies.
Mine: if you don’t exercise common sense, you probably should not have a license. I was pumping gas tonight and a lady was pumping gas beside me. The gas tanker was directly in front of us, with the hose already out and in the ground. Instead of backing up her car like any sane person would do when they were leaving, she decided to drive forward and turn in front of me to turn around. She definitely took out one of the safety precaution cones and came within inches of taking out the tanker’s hose PUMPING GAS!
I, too, hated BF. My son had a lot of issues and I had PPD and it was just a really terrible 6 months. It was easier with my daughter but then she had all of her teeth by 9 months and it didn’t take me long to be OVER that. I’ll try again this time and hope for the best, but if formula makes my life better and my baby happier then it’ll be a no-brained choice.
cseley321 yea i said "if i breastfeed" referring to this baby and my husband was like "what do you mean if???" which shocked me...not your boobs dude. I will try in the hospital and see how this kid takes to it. I would probably go EP over straight formula because I like the free food and the crazy calorie burn aspect to be sure. Her inefficiency also killed my supply before anyone noticed and I was killing myself and obsessing over oz and ended up having to supplement anyway. @tarheelgirl8 I loved my heels, haven't been able to wear them for a few years due to back issues and sometimes I miss them, I just feel sexy in them. Though in hindsight they prob didn't help the back issues... I agree "natural" and "unmedicated" are just confusing terms. How unmedicated is unmedicated? I had a cervical agent but no pitocin or epidural...is that unmedicated? is that "semimedicated"? What if you had petocin and not epidural? Birth should just be a boolean - delivered a kid - yes/no
@tarheelgirl8 me too! I used to be able to wear them all the time and now I just can’t. Thank goodness for flats, ankle boots, chunky heels and wedges.

Omg preach sister!!!! What about #mompreneur? #richbossbabe #momboss and all of those...I get so angry! Also the people working for those companies always criticize others who have a career and a full time job because " poor you you have to commute and go to the office and I get to work while my child naps!". Well, some of us thought a degree and a career path was a good idea. It has some advantages, like the fact that I don't need to create a Facebook post every day(and multiple times a day!) to promote my job and saying a bunch of crap about yours. To each their own!
