Re: Monday Ticker Change - March 5

  • How many weeks are you/baby's size? 16 weeks today; ovia app says he's the size of a dill pickle

How are you feeling? Mostly fine - I really don't feel much at all but I did pull something in my back yesterday power walking a 5k so the week is off to a pretty uncomfortable start.

Any appts this week? Yes! Just a monthly exam tomorrow but I'm looking forward to hearing his heartbeat and knowing he's doing okay in there.

Rants/raves/questions? I'm going to go back and find the topic specific threads but does anyone one want to weigh in on travel systems vs a separate car seat and stroller.  I'm starting to do my research and getting overwhelmed.

GTKY: (stolen from Sundays - again) What is the last book you read? I was happy to steal this one because I love to read.  The last book I finished was Fahrenheit 451 which I read because I had never read it before.  I'm not a sci fi fan so I didn't love it.  Now I'm reading All the Light We Cannot See and its definitely more in my wheel house so I'm enjoying it.

How many weeks are you/baby's size?

    18w artichoke.

How are you feeling? Aside from sleeping all weekend, really good. I think I’m trying to fight off the stomach bug my students have had.

Any appts this week? Nope. Nothing until 27th, which is my anatomy scan!

Rants/raves/questions? We have a SNOW DAY!!!!!! Which means I’m 100% unprepared for a day home with the kids. Oh well.

GTKY: (stolen from Sundays - again) What is the last book you read? Percy Jackson series. Currently reading Eragon again.

  • How many weeks are you/baby's size? 16 weeks! Ovia says a Poire belle Helene (huh?), Bump says an Avocado

How are you feeling? Pretty decent. Yesterday I had some groin pain that lasted all day but its gone today, I may have overdone it walking around on Saturday, who knows.

Any appts this week? Yes! Regular monthly checkup on Friday

Rants/raves/questions? DS is bringing up the baby more, and it's pretty cute. He also likes to say there's a baby in his belly and Daddy's belly, so not totally sure he gets it lol

GTKY: (stolen from Sundays - again) What is the last book you read? The last book I read was the 5 Second Rule, and now I am listening to The Power of Habit and reading Think and Grow Rich. I need to read something for fun too. Book club needs to pick a book for next month.

  • @laurad75 I have separate car seat and stroller. We aren’t huge baby wearers, but used a moby until both babies could kind of sit up. Or just put their car seat into the big part of the cart. When we hit summer and kids were 8+ months old they were out of infant seats, and so the stroller never needed to handle a seat on it.

  • How many weeks are you/baby's size? 17/pomegranate

How are you feeling? Really good! Lots of energy and feeling Baby Girl flutter around in there on occasion now which is an awesome feeling. And I got to spend some time this weekend looking at stuff for her nursery so that was a lot of fun.

Any appts this week? Went in today for blood work (spina bifida screening) and a doppler, baby's heart sounded great and my doctor confirmed I have probably been feeling her, she is right where I have been feeling little flutters.

Rants/raves/questions? How can they screen spina bifida from blood work? Anyone know? I am very confused on this but neglected to ask.

GTKY: (stolen from Sundays - again) What is the last book you read? "Mrs. Fletcher" with my book club. I am terrible at reading for pleasure so it is good to be in a book club where I am forced to read a book every other month or so.

@laurad75 I asked about travel systems in the FTM thread from last week if you want to find that one, I think we have decided to just do a carseat (plus extra base for DH's car) and hold off on stroller for a while, the ones that come with travel systems seem so bulky and heavy.

TTC #2 January 2020: AMA, dx with DOR in May 2020

    IVF July 2020: 16 eggs retrieved, 14 mature, 12 fertilized, 3 blasts, 2 PGT-A normal

    FET 10/7/20: BFP on 10/12/20!!! (EDD 6/25/21); First beta 10/16/20 (9dpt): 148; Second beta 10/19/20 (12dpt): 621; Third beta 10/26/20 (19dpt): 4732; Fourth (and final!) beta 11/2/20 (26 dpt): 22,000+

  • How many weeks are you/baby's size? 16 weeks! Size of an action figure.

How are you feeling? Mostly good. I've been getting some heavy feeling in my public area. Like a little crampy, but mostly like I've all of a suddenly added weight there. Which I guess I have.

Any appts this week? Nope. Unfortunately.

Rants/raves/questions? I have to make a virtual field trip for a grad class, and I don't wanna do it. Wah.

GTKY: (stolen from Sundays - again) What is the last book you read? It was honestly a boring textbook for my grad class. I haven't read a book for pleasure in over 2 yrs. I miss it.
  • How many weeks are you/baby's size?
18 weeks, size of a sweet potato.

    How are you feeling?
So much better this week, though my expanding stomach is becoming a legitimate obstacle now.

    Any appts this week?
Nope, still two weeks out. I did have some cramping last week, so I went in just to be safe. Everything looked good and they gave me some Colace, lol.

    Rants/raves/questions?
DH had his oral surgery this week, and he's been having a rough time since. He's been useless around the house, and while I don't mind waiting on him to an extent I already miss having a partner. At least he's off the liquid diet today, and is now on pureed food for two weeks.

GTKY: (stolen from Sundays - again) What is the last book you read?
"Born A Crime" by Trevor Noah. It is his autobiography about growing up colored during apartheid South Africa.  It was great, and managed to be both touching and funny. I'm currently in the middle of "Storm of Steel" by Earnst Junger, which is the diaries of a German GI in the trenches of WW1. It's also very good, but not really a "fun" read. I'm also wading through "What To Expect; The First Year" to prepare myself a little for life in August. Next on deck is The Storm Before The Storm; The Beginning of the End of the Roman Empire by Mike Duncan. He did the award winning The History of Rome podcast, which I recommend to any history fans out there. I read quite a bit, but rarely novels.

  • *Lurking* @legallykate they look at a protein level in the blood called alpha fetoprotein or AFP. It is often elevated in cases of spina bifida. Just a screening test though so if it came back elevated, that would prompt more testing. Sensitivity of the test is reported anywhere from 60-90% (with higher sensitivity for more severe malformations or anencephaly), so not the end all be all test. Hope that's helpful.

  • How many weeks are you/baby's size?
    16 weeks

    How are you feeling?
starting to feel less sick and maybe slight getting back to normal energy levels

    Any appts this week?
next isn’t till my anatomy scan which is the 1st Friday in April

    Rants/raves/questions?
was rear ended Saturday and I’m super annoyed that I get to deal with it all. Luckily we are all fine.

GTKY: (stolen from Sundays - again) What is the last book you read?

last book I read was the couple next door. It was okay. Ready things we wish we knew and also the French girl. For some reason all three were overwhelmingly disappointing. Not enough suspense for me.

  • How many weeks are you/baby's size?
    17w pomegranate

    How are you feeling?
    Pretty good!
    Any appts this week?
Not until 3/19 at the anatomy scan
    Rants/raves/questions?
Went to a 3D/4d ultrasound for fun and the girl kept saying she was confused and thought there was twins. And wasn’t not able to see the gender. But we went knowing it was just for fun so atleast we got to peek at the baby and visit.
GTKY: (stolen from Sundays - again) What is the last book you read?

”You are a badass” good book I picked it up at the airport and read most of it on my long flight.

Stuck in dumb box, how does a virtual field trip work? Where are you going?
