Re: 3rd Trimester Check In Week of March 4

  • Hello! Currently 31+1. Almost two more months to go! Trying really hard to declutter the apartment before my baby shower. I feel like I have a lot of stuff, you know? And I think I have over 50 pairs of shoes... Eeek. It sounds like a lot. You can be brutally honest if that's a lot. I just love pumps though. Although recently I haven't been able to wear any.

My SIL is throwing my baby shower next weekend, and I had a hard time finding a good hostess gift. I ended up getting a serving tray that I hope she will like: https://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/store/product/noritake-reg-pearl-noir-14-25-inch-rectangular-platter/1041282489?categoryId=12134 What are everyone's thoughts? I also used a 20% off coupon yay!

  • As for the QOTD, I really hope I can make my due date. I need to reach 12 months with my current company (which is in April) to qualify for FMLA so I need to at least make it 36 weeks. That's my bare minimum! But of course I just want a healthy baby at delivery so anything term will be fine with me.

  • This week is week 35. So happy I made it this far. I will also be going on maternity leave this week and I still have so much work left to do. Eeek!

QOTW: I already know that I will be induced at week 39 due to gestational diabetes. But whether I’ll make it to 39th week or not, I have no idea!  My baby is measuring a bit big (by u/s) and I’m tiny so I hope that doesn’t mean I’ll be delivering early. My mother delivered both me and my sister past our due dates (though we were conceived the old fashioned way so dating may not have been as precise as for me who went through IVF) so maybe I will make it to 39th. My hope is that I will go into labor a day or two before the induction day so that I don’t have to use pitocin but... doubt I’ll be so lucky!

@helloworld9 I’m trying to declutter too! I have college text books and notes that I kept all these years. I’ve come to a point that if I haven’t opened them in twenty years, I never will.

Actually, 50 pairs of shoes sounds like a lot, but it isn’t!  A few years ago I counted how many shoes I had and I was shocked when I found out that I easily had over 50 pairs. And I never considered myself a shoe person. It’s just that I had a few sandals, boots, sneakers, casual sneakers, etc., basically a few pairs of many types of shoes.

The serving tray that you got your SIL looks great! Have fun at the shower! I love BB&B. I love getting stuff that never goes on sale from them. With a 20% off coupon!  Was hoping buy buy baby was just as generous with their expired coupons but apparently not.

  • I'm at 37+1 and the girls are the size of striped skunks, lol. We have 2 appointments this week and I'm going to be super busy at work :/ I really wanted to start my maternity leave a little early, but I don't think I'm going to be able to due to financial stuff.
We are scheduled for induction/c-section (depending on the girls' positions) on March 15 so I know we aren't making it to our due date, but we knew that from the get go. My OB doesn't want me going past 38 weeks because the possibility of complications is a lot higher for twins at the end of the pregnancy. I'm not entirely sure we'll make it to our induction day, I've noticed a lot more BH and the girls are still moving, but it seems to be a bit more restrained than previously which I've read can be a sign that I'll be going into labor in not too much longer.

@helloworld9 I'm also trying to massively de-clutter, not only are the girl's coming soon, but we are moving in the next couple of months as well. I have no issues de-cluttering, but my husband is another story, lol. I'm a massive tomboy so I think I have 4 or 5 pairs of shoes that I actually wear. I know I have more pairs, but they are falling apart and I haven't gotten around to getting rid of them lol.

  • @cashewchicken One more month to go for you! College textbooks are so heavy and a pain to move. Completely understand if you are trying to get rid of them. I kept some but definitely not all. As for shoes, I think I have 50+ too... It's frustrating that Buy Buy Baby isn't so generous. What gives?

@amanning2011 You are soooo close to the finish line! That's so exciting. And only 5 pairs of shoes?? I'm impressed!

  • 33+3 weeks today. Nothing much happening besides 2x week NST.
Have any if you ladies decided when you will start maternity leave?
QOTW: I am going to be induced at 39 weeks do to medical reasons. But I still feel like I will go earlier than that.
  • @helloworld9 I'm really not a shoe person and tend to just wear a pair until they fall apart and then replace them lol. I think I have 2 pairs I can where to work, 1 pair of sandals, 1 pair of boots, and 1 pair of tennis shoes lol.

@rel_1987 I'm going to start maternity leave when I go into labor. That way I can spend as much time with the girls after they are born as I can. I'm also trying to arrange it so I miss 2 of the busiest times of year at my work, otherwise I'll be going back to work right as we start working daily 10 hour days again :/

Hey everyone! I will be 33 weeks tomorrow with the twins and time seems to be flying! Last Friday we had our first NST and the doc said everything looked amazing, and said that as long as things keep looking good I'll stay at weekly appointments for the rest of my pregnancy! Which would be SO nice!

Yesterday we got the car seats installed and inspected, and today I'm washing my last load of baby clothes, so we're almost to the point of just waiting. I also would love to do more decluttering like the rest of you! But at this point pretty much all of it is in my sewing room and anyone who has one of those knows how hard it is to declutter... hopefully at least I can go through my scraps and use or toss them! I've been making some of them into burp cloths and skirts already, so we'll at least call that progress!

QOTW: I am definitely not making it to my due date. I have an induction date scheduled for April 11 because of twins (and setting it up early let me get my breast pump to ship earlier!). So far the doctor keeps saying there are no signs that I won't make it full term, but we'll see! I've had April 6 in my head since the beginning of my pregnancy though, so maybe that will happen!
  • @rel_1987 I'm gonna try my hardest to start maternity leave the day I go into labor, haha! Maybe I'm naive but I can save up all of my PTO for baby. Much like @amanning2011

@nmtay A sewing room sounds awesome! I have a sewing machine but haven't really used it since hemming jeans or making them skinny.

  • Newbie here. EDD from the RE office is 4/28.  Singleton - girl according to everyone so far, but I'll believe it when I see her! She was a FET transfer; my first cycle ever. My RE office likes to do FET if they can get the embryos since they think they get better results when they can give you a break from the stims and then sometime to build up the womb. Worked for me, I guess!

32 and 4 today. Feeling anxious, tired and hot (XD). Keep obsessing over kick counts and movements. She seems to be doing more squirms and wiggles than hardcore kicks (although when I do get those, they're rough). And some sort of turning movement which is sorta uncomfortable now since it feels like she's gonna bust out. Hiccups every so often.

Struggling with my appetite sadly; I think my stomach is just super squished! I made a lovely orzo pasta last night and could only eat a bit of it with some chicken. My husband loved it! I seem to be able to eat more in the middle of the day.

Currently waiting for my new cleaning crew to arrive so I can apologize for all the dog hair everywhere and the fact that baby stuff is strewn all over the place as we try to get ready.

I don't see the doc again until next week since my preg. has been pretty...well...dull. I think that's contributing to my nerves somewhat; I keep waiting for the shoe to drop and it hasn't so far....32 weeks later o.o. My mom says I need to stay away from google. I wish it was that easy :expressionless:  Sometimes I wish I had complications (stupid, right?) so I would be monitored more often! My parents are both doctors and think I'm being crazy. My OB who I've known forever says I need to relax and that everything is going well.  -sigh-

Ah, she has hiccups now I think! My husband has terrible hiccups all the time so I'm not surprised....

  • @mbradfo2 Welcome and congrats on making it to the 3rd trimester! I completely understand just waiting for the other shoe to drop, I've felt that way since the beginning of my pregnancy, too. As far as the 'dull' pregnancy so far, just keep in mind you went through all the complications just to get pregnant, lol. That's what I do to try and make myself feel better about it. I don't have much of an appetite anymore either, and I'm sure you're right, that our stomachs are just up in our lungs so there's no space in them. My OB said to make sure I have multiple small meals a day so I get all the protein and everything else I need throughout the day.

  • @amanning2011 that’s great that you are in your 37th week with twins!  I’m amazed that you are working up until your due date. And I can’t believe that you are moving in a couple of months!

@helloworld9 I know! Only a month to go. Time flies. I’m definitely going to start decluttering next week. I’m on my maternity starting tomorrow but I still have some work to do. Yikes. I will be working from home in the next few days... I’m a horrible procrastinator.

@rel_1987 I’m also having NST 2x/week and will be induced at 39 weeks. My first day of maternity leave is tomorrow but I will be doing some work from home.  My state allows going on disability starting 4 weeks before the due date so I’m taking advantage of that. But seriously though with so much workload maybe I should have delayed a bit. But it’s a use it or lose it situation and at least if I’m on disability I don’t have to drive in to work and more days I go into work, more people pile on work, so...

  • @nmtay I’m happy that your pregnancy is going great! Jealous of your weekly NST. I’m amazed how ready you are. My plan is to start washing baby clothes this weekend! And my decluttering hasn’t really gotten started. We still have big furniture to get rid of. Sigh.

@mbradfo2 welcome! I know the feeling of waiting for the other shoe to drop. I honestly could not enjoy my first and second trimesters. I was so nervous I’ll just miscarry (didn’t help that I had SCH and some bleeding). I felt more confident about this pregnancy starting 24 weeks, and now I’m really loving it. It’s great that you have no complications though!

@helloworld9 I'm a pattern designer/samplemaker, mostly for small swimsuit companies, so my sewing room is a definite necessity! Plus I do a lot of personal projects pretty regularly - definitely enjoying working on things for the babies right now!

Welcome @mbradfo2! I actually had a pretty dull twin pregnancy until yesterday...story and question below.

@cashewchicken thanks! I've officially reached the "these babies could come any time/the doctor could decide to induce me or put me on bedrest if something goes wrong" stage so I've been trying to be ready for that! You've totally got this! Enjoy washing the baby clothes and I hope your decluttering goes smoothly!

So I went to the doctor yesterday and had high blood pressure. It's kinda been creeping up over the past few weeks but nothing alarming by the time they retook it. Yesterday I think it was 145/90 ish both times. My urine test had already come back fine but they sent me to L&D at the hospital for a second NST and some labs to see what was going on.

Well, everything came back perfect! Even my blood pressure went back down to 135/85ish so highish but not scary by any means after they had me lying down for 10 minutes with the NST! So they literally told me to change nothing but lesson learned I'm going to make those nurses let me sit for a full 5 min or so before they take my BP instead of the usual 20 seconds!

So question is how soon after sitting down do your doctor's take BP? I mean it's not like I have far to walk or anything but maybe I spike more dramatically because of the twins or something? Just wondering what is 'normal' to your OBs.
  • @nmtay I guess at my clinic the nurse measures my bp about 10 min after lying down. After lying down, they check my baby’s position with u/s, measures the amount of amniotic fluid, straps the heart rate and contraction monitors on my belly and then measures my bp. So all that takes about 10 min or so. For my appointment with MFM they measure my bp almost immediately after sitting down. But I’m not walking too far from the waiting area. If there is a 10-point difference in bp, it might also be a device-to-device difference, I’m not sure.

  • @nmtay the nurse at my doctor's office tends to do my BP about 5ish minutes after my US.

  • @nmtay
My OB's office usually does the BP about 30-45 sec after sitting down, but if it's high, they let you sit a bit and try again. I also monitor at my work and do about the same thing. Technically you should wait 5 minutes, but it won't likely make a -huge- difference. The only reason I got started on meds was mostly because while my BP was only mildly elevated, it had been trending upwards and I had noticed that it was getting a bit higher during my out of office readings. Probably due to the nerves, but it's still something better avoided.
