First Time Momma

Hi I'm super excited to be here. This is baby #1, and I'm super excited and nervous. This little person wasn't plan but we are happy just the same! I don't know or get all the short hand/abbreviations a lot of mom's are using but I'm excited to learn!

Re: First Time Momma

  • Hi welcome! I joined a birth month community with my first and it was so fun seeing the posts and replying and knowing so many other ppl are going through exactly what you are!

  • Welcome! If you check out the welcome read this first thread I believe there is a link to all of the abbreviations :)

  • I am a FTM too. We did plan this but I am still a little shocked it happened.

    Excited but scared as hell.
  • @barfussbump Welcome! FTM here too! I am so excited, but super nervous because I have no idea what to expect. The ladies here are awesome and provide so great advice for any and all of our questions. Be sure to read the "Read First" post. It is very helpful with not only the abbreviations, but also getting to know the board itself.

  • Hi fellow FTMs! This community has been so helpful. I will admit sometimes the acronyms are a little overwhelming. I keep going back and forth to the links in the welcome page.  :D We planned this bundle, but I was still very shocked and scared. I am getting a little more comfortable now.
  • Man this is a friendly group. I’m getting snark starved.
It’s the morning sickness.  Don’t worry, once that passes, you’ll have a baby to spit up on you, providing an endless stream of opportunities to make snarky comments.  (Or endure them from your sweetie.)

    Seriously....
  • Lol where are the trolls?
  • Hi and welcome! Another FTM
    here too!
  • @DunkinDecaf it must be that re-wiring of our brains to make us more empathetic coming out. We've all lost our snark  :D

Got two at home already. Plenty of snark in my daily life. Maybe that’s why all this normal niceness feels so weird.

  • Personally, pregnancy makes me step up the snark...
  • @cdepperschmidt @DunkinDecaf Pretty sure my husband was mortified going out in public with me this weekend. I held nothing back as we navigated through multiple stores and stupid people.
  • Personally, pregnancy makes me step up the snark...
Yup... I've had to watch myself at work and with the hubby.
  • Hah me too on the snark thing.  I try to keep it in but I am doing a horrible job. I think my man is actually impressed at how much I’m standing up for myself/saying no. Or maybe he’s just in shock lol. Usually I tend to be a peacemaker but not anymore! Now I can’t stand to be around nice people because I’m scared I’ll hurt their feelings.
  • Saaaaaame with the snark. I’m usually pretty meek and non-confrontational. At my job now I’m yelling at the assholes, which unfortunately just reinforces their assholeness, I’m honking at cars who wait .02 seconds to move at a green light, and my poor DH. I’ve had to apologize and praise him for not calling me out for being a thunderc*** multiple times when I know I was acting crazy.
