Re: Questions 2/19-2/25

  • Thanks @wildtot I’m glad it’s not just me!

  • @catftm2018 - wait until you are full term and think your water broke, but you just peed yourself ;-) happened to me on one of my many 3 mile walks to get the overdue bugger moving.  Hate to say it - but it doesn't get much better after pregnancy either.  I didn't find kegels helped me much TBH - but i'm also special with my stretchy connective tissue and prone to this stuff anyway.

@kissableviv - we got an AWESOME double rod at IKEA that was cheap but really cute with different finials.  We have a shear-ish curtain on the base with blackout curtains on top - it's still not "black out" dark - read somewhere about needing some light to acclimate internal clock to day and night.  We did have a nightlight in our room when she was in the bassinet and that VICKS humidifier with the star projection in her room for middle of the night checks etc without full light.

  • @catftm2018 Yes! I sneeze a lot during the day, and I've peed a little more than I can count. Even if I just went to the bathroom.... I'm trying more kegels, but it just sucks. :/

  • For the moms who can actively feel baby, about how many kicks do you feel a day? I've looked around google, but was just wondering your personal experiences.

The first day I really felt her (last week at 19 weeks) I felt her like 30 times that day, but it hasn't been that much lately, like 10-20 times the whole day.

  • @gspmom21 it's so hard to say, sometimes it's one little flutter then another one sometime later but sometimes it's a series of motions. I think it's too early to really count kicks or pay too much attention to how much baby is or isn't moving. Once you start counting kicks, at 28 weeks I think (?) I count each individual movement, so every flutter, kick, roll and you want to be able to get 10 in an hour (not every hour) during each day.

  • @runsomewhere Thank you. Yes, I did read that you should start counting at 28. I'm not too concerned just yet since it's early like you said, but if she goes to not moving hardly at all i'll absolutely be calling my doctor. I know every one is different and my kick amounts might not be as many as someone else's and we both can have healthy babies, just FTM and seeing what y'all were experiencing so far!
    Pregnancy Ticker
  • @gspmom21 I literally just started feeling movement a week ago and it's still so new so I don't want to worry now. I have an anterior placenta so I've been told to be aware of days without movement. Once we get to 28ish I'll start counting I guess but I must say if I'm working or busy I don't pay that much attention. I'd say so far it's been ,15-20 movements a day? Hard to tell sometimes:)
  • @gspmom21 yup, plus the kick counting thing can be tricky. With DD there were days where my belly was visibly rolling from the outside and then days when I hardly felt her. It can depend so much on their position that day. I ended up having to go in to get checked out a few times and do NSTs because i didn't feel her.

  • @gspmom21 I’m 19 wks and i honestly can’t tell you how many but i just do a few tricks when i want him to move. I was never told to count with my last pregnancy but i got use to what was his normal. I got a feeling i got a night kicker this time.
  • @gspmom21 I haven’t started counting at all, I just take note when I’m sitting/relaxing after the kids have gone to bed that I am feeling something. Movement isn’t expected to be consistent yet since baby is still so small.

  • @gspmom21 No counting for me yet either and kicks started about 3ish weeks ago. The baby is still small enough to roll in every direction. You most likely won't feel the kicks or punches as much when her back is against the front of your stomach and limbs are pointed in towards your back, know what I mean? Once they start running out of room and you feel every movement, that's when it'll be easier to count the kicks.
  • @gspmom21 congrats on feeling baby moving around! I'm at 17 weeks and I feel flutters throughout the day, and mostly in the evening when I am relaxing on the couch after work. I guess for me its most noticeable when im sitting/laying still, but it is ongoing! i cant wait to do official kick counting!
Me: 35 DOR, low AMH = 0.694, and fibroids
    DH: 41
    Married 10/25/2014 / TTC since 05/2015
    1st IUI 05/05/16 Letrozole 7.5 mg CD 3-11 + Ovidrel = BFN
    2nd cycle on Letrozole 7.5 mg CD 3-11 + TI = BFN
3rd cycle on Letrozole but did our 2nd IUI on 07/01/16. 10 mg CD 3-11 + Ovidrel = BFN
Onto IVF! Started Lupron on 09/24. Added Gonal F and hcg injections 09/26...... Trigger 10/07. EggRetrieval 10/09. Starting PIO, Estrace, and Medrol 10/10/16. Transferred 2 "strong/beautiful" embryos 10/14/16. Beta 10/28/16 = 998 mIU/mL = BFP with one baby, but miscarried at 9w5d.
D&C on 12/06/17 and started taking BCPs 01/10/17 for the next IVF Cycle, which officially began stims on 02/18/17.
Fast Forward: we got 4 fertilized embryos from that cycle. Transferred one fresh, but it did not stick, so we have 3 frozen embryos currently. Went in to the fertility clinic in July to talk about a FET of one of those three frozen embryos, but a new fibroid was discovered, and I was not cleared to do the transfer until I had fibroid removal surgery.
08/11/17 had a mini-laparotomy / myomectomy to remove 6 fibroids, largest sized were the size of golf-balls! Once we were cleared to go about our normal lives (sex!) I got pregnant NATURALLY but it was a chemical pregnancy. The very next month we had another BFP and here we are now with a baby on the way! A TOTAL AND COMPLETE MIRACLE!

  • @gspmom21 I finally felt baby move on Sunday night. It was pretty damn awesome and weird! AS a ftm, it's definitely a great reassurance to have!

Maybe this is a silly question, however with everything moving upwards in my stomach, I'm surprised baby is still so low. Will the baby move up more or will the baby always be in this general area of below/near the belly button?

Additionally, I am having weird pains, sometimes near where baby is other times near my hips. Totally normal, right?

  • @zombiehoohaa i carried low with DS but eventually i felt him everywhere once he was bigger. He loved hanging out near my cervix and hips but got some hard kicks to the ribs.
  • My question is about back pain- I have it only on the lower left side of my body. Anyone find good ways to stretch or deal with back pain? I try yoga but it doesn’t always work and Tylenol doesn’t touch it
  • @crabcake18 if it’s really low it might be sciatic pain? I get it from time to time even when I’m not pregnant, but more so when I am. Sciatic specific stretches help a lot for me
  • @crabcake18 pregnancy pillow, back rubs, acupuncture (but advise them your pregnant to avoid inducing points), keep stretching.

@acunamatada I think it is sciatica pain, it’s new for me ugh. I’ll have to find specific stretches that’s a great idea. Sorry that you suffer it too. @wildtot you’re right doing the stretches everyday would be best. DH offers massages but I like to sleep instead, I should take him up on it more I think. Thanks guys!
  • @crabcake18 YES! I have the same thing. Lower left side of my back, basically to the left of my tailbone. I was planning on asking my chiropractor about it at my next appointment. It’s so painful sitting at times!
  • @zombiehoohaa your uterus will expand all the way up above your belly button and I think even into your rib cage.  With my daughter her tush was pretty much always sticking out about 4 inches above my belly button.
  • @wildtot I actually came to ask about pregnancy pillows.  Sleeping on my side is a must now and whatever side I sleep on has me struggling to find a comfortable position without my arm going to sleep. Also I have a burning in my thigh that happens when I go over a certain weight, I'm already over it.  I bought wrist supports to help with hands going numb/tingly in most positions.  So my question is Pregnancy Pillows...Yay or Nay? If yay then which ones?  I already have a body pillow and its not really working for me.
    BabyFruit Ticker
  • @myfairbump yes to pregnancy pillow! I didn’t have one with DS and used a regular one but it was hell. My pain haven’t gotten as bad (yet) but i like having it because of my hips and lower back. I have the preggle and use it most nights.
  • @myfairbump seconded - yes to pregnancy pillow.  I'm a back sleeper so i need a pregnancy to wedge myself on my side so I don't wake up on my back.  There are J shaped, C shaped, and U shaped ones - different women like different ones... I have this one (though I swear I didn't pay that much 2 years ago! there are similar on Amazon half the price).  I love the U shaped one - I toss and turn so i have identical pillow on either side, and I can fold it a bit into an awesome zero G beanbag (that's hemroid friendly for PP ;-) ) for working from bed.

  • @myfairbump I can't believe you've gone this long without a pillow! I pulled mine out when I was around 12 weeks, just because. Sooo comfy. I have a C shaped Snoogle and love it. It's just the right amount of stiffness but also soft. Like @gingerbride26 said, it's great for PP too.

@zombiehoohaa Baby will eventually take over your whole abdomen! I had a few weeks with DS where his butt was stuck up under my ribs. Ugh, it made sitting so uncomfortable. They sit so low for a long time and then all of a sudden, you feel baby everywhere. When they do full body stretches, its crazy. You'll feel kicking and punches on opposite sides and it's such a weird feeling. Totally like Alien!
  • @myfairbump yes, to the pillow. I have a u shape one like @gingerbride26. My mom got it for me at Target I think, and it wasn't too expensive, but it's been really great because I'm a mobile sleeper and roll around a lot so to have the pillow on both sides has been perfect. Plus I have a little support behind my back which seems to keep me from sleeping that way. It's enormous, and takes up half the bed, but I'm glad to have it.
  • Like what @noideawhatshesdoing said - it does take up half the bed (and we have a king) - my husband DESPISES it - but I couldn't live without it.

I'm so excited to go to a pop up consignment sale tonight! Any suggestions on what I should be on the lookout for? I would love to score a Baby Bjorn bouncer but it might be hard to find used. I'm already set with the swing, rock and play, and bassinet. Maybe play mats? So afraid of the damage I may make lol. Hopefully DH talks me into reason.
  • @myfairbump I just got one this weekend. My mom got the back and belly Leachco one. If feels like I’m feels like I’m sleeping on a bed of clouds. I have a king, and this pillow is huge! But honestly doesn’t impede my husbands side off the bed at all. If anything he says it helps me stay to one side lol
  • @babyrojas2018 I'm late to the party on answering your question, but my bump does this. Granted, I can tell that I'm bloated a lot, so I know that mine is bloat.

@catftm2018 I've had leakage issues when I sneeze and cough. I asked my OB about it, and she said it's perfectly normal and is just a result of the baby sitting on the bladder.

I've tried using a pregnancy pillow, but I move too much in my sleep, and it falls off the bed in the middle of the night. Also, we have a queen and there's not enough room for us, the dog, plus a giant pillow. I'm normally a side sleeper, but laterly it's been hurting my upper back, which is weird. Idk...I'm thinking about getting one of those little wedge pillows that just goes under the bump. Of course that will fall out of the bed too. It just seems like a lost cause in my case haha.

I have a question: has anyone had to have a mole removed during pregnancy? I've got this raised mole on my back that has been that way for years (and has been bothering me for years), but the outline of it is starting to look a little irregular to the point where it makes me nervous about potential skin cancer. (ETA: I should note for the record that I'm a bit of a hypochondriac, so it's probably fine. I'd just feel better if it were gone ASAP.)
  • @beanship bring on the hypochondriac! Raising my hand! I would say it's fine. Usually (per my dermatologist) the raised moles are less of a concern than the flat ones. I got 2 removed and both because I'm a hypochondriac lol. The doctors were like "it's probably fine" which I thought meant "just take it out" . Both times no major anesthesia was involved, just a topical cream. Took 5 minutes.
Doesn't hurt to ask the OB though! Which reminds me, I should schedule a check-up to go through my moles.
  • @beanship - agreed with what's been said.  I've had one removed when pregnant - it's fine because it's just a local shot to numb and then they cut the mole off.  But usually the raised ones are totally benign - the flat and darker ones are scary.  I go annually and am due to go in April/May this year.  I've got a lot of moles and typically get 1-3 cut off annually, so I'm sure I'll have it again this year.
  • @kissableviv @MichelleAG05 Thanks!! I probably would wait to get it removed, but earlier this week I saw it in the mirror and it somehow looked different than usual to me. That's what bothered me. I can't pinpoint how it looked different, but it just did. I had DH take pics of it with my phone, and then I started worrying about the irregular outline haha. So hypochondriac me is like "cut it off!!!"
  • @kissableviv look for a boppy pillow they usually have them at consignment sales for a lot cheaper than you can find a cover you really like, baby carriers for sure and even starting to get board books are nice things
    April Siggy Challenge Social Distancing

  • @beanship my dermatologist said while it's not dangerous to have moles removed during pregnancy he doesn't like to do it if the mole looks safe because of all your extra blood volume while pregnant.  No harm in getting it checked though.  I have some on my chest that all my babies pick at while breastfeeding and I'm thinking about getting them off now so I don't have to deal with it.
  • @lindsayleigh1989 you’re so sweet to share that chart, thank you!! Love the idea of putting my leg on the mattress for an easy stretch! Totally screen shot that and I’m going to get into pigeon now!!
  • Does anyone here get prenatals prescribed instead of OTC? This might sound stupid but it never occurred to me that they could be prescribed. Are the ones prescribed better to take than OTC brands?
  • @julianne0 never heard of prescribed but i know that some OBs sell specific ones in their office.
  • @julianne0 I've heard of it, but don't know anyone that's needed it. I always assumed it maybe had a different mix of things for people that weren't getting enough of something with the OTC brands? Honestly I've never asked about it.
