I'm irrationally upset that May has already moved to a secret board. It's crickets over there! I want to lurk a sane birth month group without extras who think it's ok to make up their own rules (ahem, all post-June boards).
This may be more of an uo but- I only watched adult shows until my daughter was well over a year old. I don't think a 6 month old needs to watch kid cartoons. I kind of roll my eyes when I see friends posting that they're keeping paw patrol on for their 3 month old. You're gonna be stuck watching that eventually, watch good grownup shows while you can!
@May14th2011 I agree! I find it baffling when people talk about their 6 month old's "favorite" show. Like, what...?
AFM, I feel like I shouldn't support Hobby Lobby or Chick Fil A because of their political/religious affiliations (anti providing birth control and anti gay marriage respectively). BUT I'm a sucker for cheap home decor and chicken sandwiches.
@becca_123 Oh, wow! I didn't know May had already moved. That seems so early? Am I wrong? I tend to lurk the months behind us more than the months ahead of us.
@May14th2011 I'm with you! I don't have kids yet, but assume my six month old will be cool with watching Real Housewives, Ru Paul's Drag Race, and Judge Judy....
@katelynrae86 SAME! I have pretty much given up Hobby Lobby because I can usually find something at a price I want to pay at Home Goods, Michael's or Amazon but I had CFA a couple weeks ago because they were delivering lunch boxes to work. That super food side salad gets me!
@May14th2011 I totally agree. And mom's that are doing things and up and about when they've just had a baby. Like just binge watch Netfix while you still can!
AFM...I feel bad sometimes that I am not very emotional or romantic. MH is amazing and for V-day he gave me the sweetest card saying that I should enjoy my last V-day without kids and that I could choose between a prenatal massage or a prenatal yoga membership. And got me a cupcake and belly butter. I just got him a bottle of burbon. Nothing romantic. I don't know how to be romantic or what to get him.

Soooo.... my FFFC is that I don't feel bad about DH having a tough day today. (cuz lord knows I never do.... and he barely registers any sympathy.)
He was up with DD this am (4-5 am), which I do Sunday through Thursday... because he works nights.
The cat leaped out of his arms today, and his glasses broke. So his plans for the day (all day to himself, as DD is at Daycare, as she is for both his days off every week), now had to be rearranged to get him some new glasses.
Oh, and I said something about not wanting Pizza Cheese on Tacos, so please grate the cheddar in the fridge... And he's all "I can't win".
C'mon. Big Boy pants. Dig em up, put em on, pull em up.
Mama to a wonderful DD - Sep 2015, Wife to my DH since 2011, 2 dogs, a cat, and hoping to add No. 2 in May/June 2018. Canadian. 5 - IUIs, 3 - IVF retrievals, 2- failed transfers (fresh, and frozen), PGS on second IVF resulted in 1 perfect emby, and DD. 3rd IVF w PGS resulted in 3! perfect embys. 1st transfer - Sep 2017 2 more on ice.
@katelynrae86 I don't shop at Hobby Lobby anymore, just Michael's. However, for Chik Fil A, which I have found more difficult to find a replacement....I always donate to an LGBT organization after I eat there. I usually double whatever I spent at Chik Fil A. I don't know if it really makes any difference, but my conscience feels better.
@krashke You're better than I am. MH sent me gorgeous flowers...I got him zilch. Whoops!
@rnielsen321 Lol at his response over asking him to grate cheese. I'm sure he'll find a way to manage!
So I realize that newborns aren’t usually pretty. But my SIL had her baby girl this morning (induced at 6 AM, baby before 10 AM ) and she is one of the funniest looking babies I’ve seen. Her boys were cute as newborns, I sure hope her girl grows into her face!
@2589 I think I'm going to be a little sad if my daughter is an ugly infant lol. I don't think there's anyway I won't think she's a cute toddler or whatever, but like you said, most infants aren't that cute........... but I really want mine to be lol. My mom keeps saying, "Oh, when it's your baby, you'll think she's beautiful no matter what." Like, no, I can love her and still know she's not going to be an instagram baby
@2589 I agree that most newborns aren't the cutest, but I always feel bad when I see a really unfortunate little squish. And @doxiemoxie212, I always thought the same about my own kids. But its funny, I remember thinking my own newborn was the cutest, most precious thing...now looking back at photos, I'm like, "yep, he was a funny looking wrinkly little newborn." lol... But he is the cutest, most precious 1 year old
DD was not really a cute infant. It took her sometime to grow into her face. She’s a super cute 3yo’s now but these early days were not the best. DS, on the other hand, was the cutest newborn/baby. I feel so bad comparing them but DS was wayyy cuter.
I told my BFF to be completely unbiased and let me know if my baby isn't all that cute. Some babies just aren't and I don't want the fact that it's my kid to cloud my judgement.

@dinodna3 - I had the same exact experience with my kids! My DD was also not the cutest newborn, she looked like a puffy old man. We knew it too. She's 3 and absolutely gorgeous now, and we laugh about it all the time. My Son was like Gerber baby cute from birth!
The main reason I feel the need to have an instantly cute newborn is bc my niece is SUPER CUTE. She's been cute since day one and I am sooooooo obsessive over her (not just bc she's cute but thats a part of it). Like I'm always bragging about how cute she is and how she looks JUST like me, she looks nothing like my sister (and its not just me, everyone agrees she's my clone/ twin/ surrogate daughter). Now whenever people ask I just joke and say since we're having a boy I just expect him to look like DH since I already have my twin.
DH even mentioned when we found out we were having a boy that there was no way another little girl could compete with my niece. She's too cute, great personality, so funny, even her voice is cute. She's done everything perfect (as perfect as a 2 yr old can be). She slept soundly through our wedding ceremony in the next room at 8 months old, she was perfect at the reception not one cry or fuss (she was the only baby there), she takes naps and goes to sleep on schedule, she slept/sleep through the night from an early age, breast fed and bottle fed with no problems, weened with no problems, she's not annoying, loud or fussy. She really puts other babies and toddlers to shame by comparison.

@becca_123 I never even lurk anymore because it's either crickets or too extra for me, as you said. I really enjoyed HDBD from months ahead of us.
