Hey, I'm a first time mom and I'm not quite sure how far along I am (I'm thinking 9-10 weeks) because I wasn't trying to get pregnant and my life is so busy I honestly dont remember when I got my last period. When I go to my first ultrasound appt will they be able to figure out how far along I am??
Hi OP. Please lurk a bit. This would be a great question for the weekly questions thread, or even just the randoms thread since it was a simple yes or no question.
I wonder what it's like to live a life that's so busy you don't know when your last period was but not too busy to make an account to post a question you could have googled.

I too wonder what it's like to be so busy and fertile to not have to track daily temperatures, take daily medications and give myself injections with precisely timed sex and very public to medical personnel sex life and reproductive organs and invasive exams and testing oh and dont forget all the bloodwork..hmmm... guess im just bitter.
This school shooting has me in a bad mood already. Thanks for the salt op.

So, you definitely could have just googled this or asked your doctor's office when you made the appt.
Or you could have... you know between now and the at least 3 days since you made the account... lurked and deduced from the Ultrasound post at the top of the board and the posts within that people have in fact found out how far along they are based on ultrasound measurements ::shrugs::
You know what's hilarious, my Ob's receptionist when I called to make my first appointment was all, when was your LMP? And I'm all, "uhh... I'm not really sure. Let me think..." She cut me off right there, like she couldn't give me an appoinment without knowing my LMP, and I'm like, "okay, well I think it's was maybe this day... But I can definitely tell you my TRANSFER DATE!" LOL. That settled it, right there!
So OP’s question was https://lmfgtfy.com/ level, but the fact she wasn’t trying to get pregnant is not an attack on anyone. Yes, IF and loss have made many of us very sensitive to things, but some of this feels like a total overreaction.
There are active members here who didn’t try to get pregnant or didn’t try hard, who have never and will never lose a baby, who don’t have children with lifelong diseases, who don’t have serious health issues, whatever. Fill in the blank. We all deal with hard stuff and we don’t have to take it out on people who haven’t had the same things in their lives. This is not the pain olympics.
B, @livingfulltime19, this is a valid concern but super easy to Google. Feel free to read more here, jump in and get to know people, and ask questions that you can’t easily find an answer to.

@treeofcheem I guess I was offended by the drive by " hey I'm a knottie but i'm pregnant! woops! didn't try anyways... question for all of you. I think its awesome that some people get pregnant on accident and are excited about it/have questions.. it was more the delivery of her question/lack of introduction I suppose. and i'm hormonal right now

Attack much? I thought this was a place ANY pregnant woman could come on and ask questions...no matter the question. I have been ttc for over five years, miscarried and have had fertility problems in the past.... We are now overjoyed that we are pregnant. Any question for a FTM is a valid question. (I will also be a FTM) We don't know her full Circumstances. So inappropriate to attack for a simple question... Hormonal or not.

Yup. Anyone can ask anything. Don't even have to be pregnant or a woman. This site is public and open to all. The flip side being anyone can answer anything and they can answer however they see fit. So, there's that. Sites like this tend to operate similar to having conversations in the real world. Sometimes when you don't read the room, you might offend someone and get a less than pleasant answer. There are several pinned posts that explain how this board works and a 72 hour waiting period when you sign up that all you can do is read and not start posts. If OP had read any of them she would have know this post wouldn't have gone over well. I can see where you would think it's harsh for her to receive some of the answers/comments she did, but you are kinda doing the same by showing up out the blue to yell at folk too.
The fact that some random user who has not participated in this board or community and asks a question with little tact or regard for others that have shared and interacted with each other from beginning, and she hasnt even come back to respond, and it's HER feelings that were concerned about, speaks volumes to me

It's okay, I get it, you don't care who I am. I apologize if I stirred the pot.
Well, you did walk into a "room" where no one knows you and started yelling at people. That's not really something people enjoy.
Please feel free to stick around though. Introduce yourself in the intro thread if you haven't already. Jump in and participate in some of the threads. Give people a chance to get to know you.
Don't worry, OP wasn't attacked. She's been too busy living her crazy busy life full time to come back and check for responses. We'll never know if her doc was able to determine how far along she was.
Attack is maybe too strong for what I meant, but still. Overreactions for sure. I 100% get being bothered by the drive-by. But heaping on the "This is what I went through" stuff is pointless. Call her out on what was actually wrong with what she did. Mentioning that she didn't intend to get pregnant isn't wrong. Not remembering when your last period was isn't wrong. I track mine in an app because I'm way too absentminded to remember. Nothing wrong with that. Asking a super basic question with zero attempt to figure out the answer yourself and then ignoring the group is, however, terrible forum etiquette.
Are we not allowed to swear on here anymore?

@treeofcheem I don't know about swearing. I think it's fine. I'm pretty sure it's ok as long as you don't swear AT someone. I'm personally trying to practice not swearing cause my toddler has been dropping F- bombs and says "oh $#!+," frequently enough that I'm worried he'll get in trouble at school.
I shared my experience, because I am a member of this group, and that is what I went through. That's all I can do is share my experience. And if it serves as case in point why I can't super-duper relate to OPs experience, then so be it. I don't think it's ever inappropriate to share what we have been through ourselves. OP is free to take from that whatever they will! Or not come back! Whichever...
