Yesterday I walked my dog and took another Pilates reformer class last night. Another walk this morning and not sure what class I want to do tomorrow. I also feel like hunger is striking a lot more now so I just have to remember to eat healthy snacks. Happy Friday!
I am HERE for Richard Simmons gifs. Thank you @kissableviv for that!
I did barre twice this week! Starting small, only 30 minutes each day. I used to do it 3-4 hours a week but 1st Tri wiped me out and then the holidays it got away from me and then colds went through each member of my family in January so here we are!!
Hoping to fit one more mini session in this weekend even if it’s only 10 minutes. Better than nothing right?!
@BrittG13 Something is definitely better than nothing!
@krystlerr Hunger is definitely crazy now for me too. I have to make sure I eat enough before a workout, and usually have to eat right after. So hungry all the time.
Another great week of cardio and weights. Trying to incorporate for stretching now for my back and hips. Sleeping is becoming annoying with tossing and turning and I notice my back is arching a lot more now with my belly getting bigger.

@BrittG13 get it, girl! Consistency is what counts so just keep doing what you're doing even for just 10-15 min! @rachelsogo I've been lazy with my lifting this week. Gotta do better next week! +1 for the hunger. Hard to get creative with what to eat without going overboard sometimes!
My workout last night sucked, the heat was stuck on for some reason, so none of us were loving it. Hoping tomorrow with be better, its a longer class and I'm trying to get DH to come with me.
No real workout this weekend. Instead DH and I had the crazy idea of ripping out the little grass we had in our backyard and putting in pavers. We had done this before a few years ago, but somehow it seemed harder this time (since I wasn't able to help with much heavy lifting) and we're not completely done yet. To be continued next weekend!

Somehow convinced DH to come with me to Jazzercise on Saturday morning. It was a long class too, he's such a good sport. Then we did some yard work the rest of the weekend and I consider all the trips back and forth to the compost pile a workout itself. Plus that doesn't smell nice.
Also, I've become a bottomless pit, can't stop eating. Ugh.
I've mentioned before that I have a gym rival. We're friendly but competitive with each other. What I've not mentioned, is I actually have 2 of them. I am not by nature a competitive person, except at the dance studio, and then a switch is flipped.
Gym rival A was in class last night. She's got a knee injury at the moment so she had to take the intensity down a notch which was actually mentally great for me because I wasn't trying to push myself as hard. Gym rival B took the class before me, but stayed and chatted with me before my class started. She's become a huge support for me and was telling me about how she worked out all the way up until her due date and was back at it 3 weeks after her son was born. Hearing that sort of stuff is really encouraging to me because my workouts are my social time, and I'm really wanting to be a fit mom to set a good example for LO.
Working on remembering that fitness includes mental fitness as well, and trying to surround myself with as many positive role models as I can. My own mom threw in the towel after having me and my brothers and I don't want to follow in those footsteps.
@noideawhatshesdoing lol, 2 rivals is a lot! I'm definitely encouraged and love to hear of moms that stay fit and workout until they can. I'm definitely going to give myself grace and take the time to get back into it after the baby. I don't like the bounce back culture and I hope that I can go back to it gently when the time is right.
The only thing I will say is that I do cringe at people working out at 3 weeks pp. I think that's a recipe for disaster, but I understand everyone is different. Behind every action I always ask myself "why" . If working out until I'm due feels good, I'll do it. If it stops feeling good and the why is "because I have to", I'll stop. Same with postpartum. But again, every body heals differently and needs different things so I totally respect that! You show those rivals who's boss even with modifications, haha!
@kissableviv LOL I agree 3 week PP seems nuts. I can't imagine that would even feel good! Seems like you could still be in a lot of discomfort and pain in addition to be tired and everything else, but hey, to each their own I guess! I don't imagine I'll be back at it that soon, but hoping not to have too long of a break.
I have another workout friend that was back at it a week and a half after a c section. All I can think is ouch! I'm dreading the idea of even having to use the bathroom!
I'm teaching POUND and Pilates tonight. Last time teaching Pilates, I can't demo all that core work any more and mostly I don't want to. Haven't decided what to do tomorrow but I need to make a plan because we have our anatomy scan and it's a little of a drive so I know we'll be out and about more than usual.
I've been doing the same cardio routine on the treadmill since the beginning of this pregnancy (which was the same as pre-pregnancy but I've modified it to be less intense). As the weeks go on it's more walking than running/jogging. And last night was the first time it was much harder than normal. I was sweating and worn out and I barely did any jogging. I'm surprised I'm feeling fatigued so quickly at 17 weeks. I guess I'm sticking to brisk walking when I'm on the treadmill. I need to find some kind of prenatal cardio that I can do at home. Any suggestions?

@kissableviv and @noideawhatshesdoing regarding working out 3 weeks pp, yes that seems quick and I'm not suggesting anything extreme is a god idea however, it's been shown that working out soon after pp actually helps in your recovery, not to mention all the emotional benefits.
I had no physical restrictions AT ALL (I'm talking physical activity not sex) by 3 weeks 2 days pp per my OB. It varies person to person but it's not as shocking as it might sound.
Regarding current workouts I've gone for jogs here and there but haven't been to the gym or taken a class in a while. We have had really active weekends though, lots of hiking and running around outdoors as a family so I am feeling ok.
@Sarafuss I used to be a runner too, until about 8 weeks I think, when my stomach just felt heavier and full. I stuck to incline speed walking for the most part until I over did that and my knee started hurting. Now I incorporate elliptical and stationary bike into the mix as well. For at home cardio maybe some modified compound exercises. They are weight lifting movements that usually get the heart rate pumping as well.

@runsomewhere I agree that some guidelines are very, very standard, I personally don't plan on thinking about working out after 3 weeks even if I can, though I'll be happy to incorporate more walking and trying to stay normally active to help with the recovery! @Sarafuss I'm not a runner but I know in general lots of runners have stopped running in the second trimester because it just doesn't feel good especially on their hips. Again, everyone is different! Have you tried the stationary bike for a change?
@kissableviv I haven't tried the stationary bike since pre-pregnancy. I love running so I usually just stick to that but obviously can't run anymore! I might try the bike and see how it goes. It just usually causes me butt and crotch pain, haha! And I'm not a fan of the elliptical machine either. I've looked up a few prenatal workouts on YouTube and the few I've tried were pretty lame. It was mostly yoga (even though it wasn't labeled a yoga workout). I just need to find a good cardio routine since I use the machines to work my arms and legs.

@Sarafuss maybe the treadmill with inclines instead of any jogging? You can still get the HR up. I have been enjoying Zumba even though I suck at it and it usually gets me in the cardio zone!
@kissableviv yea I will have to just up the incline and walk probably. It just feels so boring lol. I think Zumba would be so fun but I am embarrassingly uncoordinated when it comes to things like that. So my social anxiety keeps me from going lol. I think if I can get a friend to go with me I might try it out!

@Sarafuss I have social anxiety too! It can be pretty paralyzing sometimes, but I think group classes can be helpful for it because everyone is focused on the instructor and their own workout, so there isn't time to be concerned with what others are doing. I Jazzercise (don't laugh, I promise it isn't what people think!). I also had someone come with me to get through my anxiety at the beginning. I started in the back of the classroom because it meant minimal interaction with others and a quick escape after class. Over time, I've gotten more comfortable with the choreography and the strength routines and have moved up toward the front of the studio so I can see the instructor better. But I still hug the edge of the room.
