  • I hope you get the answer you're looking for at the ENT. DS got tubes in both ears after 5 ear infections in 5 months, and it made a huge difference for language and motor skills. He started walking the day of his surgery! He has also been infection free since having tubes. LMK if you have any questions about the procedure.
  • @Patience7150 get the tubes. Game. Changers. DS had 7 ear or double ear infections by 1 and got tubes at 13 months. Best decision ever. @nlc8424 no more infections here either. Love it.

  • Aww @patience7150 hopefully you can get some answers, your poor DD!

@nlc8424.... how old is your little one? No experience with the behavior issues yet on my end but I know that giving kids choices helps a lot... if he melts down at meals maybe try offering a few options that he can choose from so it's like he is making the choice but really it's you choosing what to offer :)

How are things going with this pregnancy? Going good so far, I am a little anxious and really looking forward to my first ultrasound. I've had morning sickness/nausea on and off but it's been more manageable then the last pregnancy where I was throwing up multiple times a day.
Any concerns currently? Not really :)
Positive/exciting things going on with current child(ren)? My son's first birthday is Monday so I am excited and also sad about that! The year went by so fast :'(. His golf themed "Hole in One" party is in a few weeks so I am working on getting things together for that too.
Any concerns/frustrations with current child(ren)?  I am going out of town with my husband this weekend and leaving my son with my parents. It's our first time being gone from him for more than a night! LOL..He will do fine, I am more worried about me haha!!

  • @chicandbubbly he's 19 months. I definitely can offer choices, but he's pretty stubborn so I'm not sure how well he will like then haha. He also has a bunch of words he tries to say that I can't fully understand so sometimes he gets frustrated that I don't get what he's saying. I'll try the choice thing tonight!

@nlc8424 I really like the book “No Bad Kids: toddler discipline without shame”. I should probably reread it soon.

eta: the author has a great blog too.
  • How are things going with this pregnancy?
OK, I guess/think. Haven't had any appointments yet...the waiting is hard.
    Any concerns currently?
Not really, other than finally having first appointment this coming Monday, and getting a midwife nailed down in the next week or so. I'm planning on having a home birth midwife as well as a hospital midwife or doctor so I feel comfortable with my care.
Positive/exciting things going on with current child(ren)?
Watching him learn to play with dogs as well as really start imaginative play..even though he's not talking at all.
    Any concerns/frustrations with current child(ren)?
He's 20 months old, I'm tired of the constant whining because he has no words. Supposed to start speech therapy last week, but they're still searching for someone to do it (through EI). Also, please sleep through the night at least sometimes!!! Working 2 nights per week but having to get up and take care of him isn't easy, but the fact that he also wakes me up at least once every night stops me from ever catching up!

  • @pourmeamocktail I'm not sure what the progression is like with speech therapy, but I hope they find someone soon to work with him. DS talks quite a bit but also does his fair share of whining. DS's signature move is to throw himself on the ground while crying when he doesn't get what he wants. Yup, he sure does cry a lot.
  • How are things going with this pregnancy?

Things are going fine so far.
I’ll be 10 weeks on Monday and I have an appointment that day with my doctor and ultrasound.

    Any concerns currently?

No real concern but at my very first ultrasound the technician said to not be surprised if I have some spotting.
I didn’t think of it then but I do have to have the Rhogram shot so I’m going to ask my doctor on Monday if I should go ahead and get the shot just in case.

Positive/exciting things going on with current child(ren)?
My oldest is selling Girl Scout cookies and my middle daughter is turning 4 this weekend.

    Any concerns/frustrations with current child(ren)?
I’ve been so tired and on edge lately that I’m so easily angered and frustrated by their behavior. Hoping I can be more patient and slow to anger.
  • @nlc8424 Yeah, the over dramatic fits are sometimes hilarious, sometimes rage inducing. But he has literally one word, and he only uses it occasionally, and doesn't babble. He will do a few signs, but does them while whining at me. Like, every single thing he wants ever is a point and whine, so it's non-stop other than when he's having a tantrum or sleeping....Hours straight. I'd kill (lol, obviously not literally) for some babbling and words!!!

  • Things are going ok at 7w4d, just trying to make it though each day while feeling sick! We had a snow day today at work but I still sent DS to daycare so I could catch up on some stuff! #badmom haha
  • How are things going with this pregnancy?
Pretty good. Today is 10+2 and I feel like I might be turning a corner with MS

    Any concerns currently?
    Nope.

Positive/exciting things going on with current child(ren)?
DS is loving preschool and learning more every day.
DD is growing and changing everyday. She had her 18mth appt yesterday and is 35” and 28lbs 15oz. She’s so big!!

    Any concerns/frustrations with current child(ten)?
Just that my DS is such a dick to DD. He has so much energy and always runs into her or shoves her. I’m so over it.

  • @JLyn821 I think our kids may be close in age (DS1 3.5 and DS2 is 17 months) and I have the same frustrations as you with #1 being not so gentle with his brother! He was super jealous for a long time and while it is getting better and they are playing better together recently, he can still be a bully. He shares really well with all kids except his brother! I still haven't figured out the best way to handle it.
  • How are things going with this pregnancy?

So far so good but still pretty early...7 weeks tomorrow.

    Any concerns currently?

I had gestational diabetes with DS2 and will have it checked early this time but worried I will have it again. It was diet controlled last time and I have been trying to somewhat follow the diet just in case I also have it with this one but that is easier said than done!

Positive/exciting things going on with current child(ren)?
DS2 finally has all of his teeth, except for (2 yr old molars) and he is finally sleeping better!

    Any concerns/frustrations with current child(ren)?
Getting DS1 to be more gentle with DS2, they are both rough and tumble but I'm afraid big brother is teaching little brother some bad habits.
  • How are things going with this pregnancy?
    good. Sick. Tired.
Any concerns currently? I think we decided to move. So finding a house, packing all our crap, moving etc. It is so much and seems so daunting in my fatigued state. Plus moving is the worst.
Positive/exciting things going on with current child(ren)?
He is just so much fun.
Any concerns/frustrations with current child(ren)? Nope. Eventually need to move him to a big boy bed from the crib, but that will be July or so.
  • How are things going with this pregnancy? 8+3 And doing well aside from headaches

    Any concerns currently?
    Nothing major

Positive/exciting things going on with current child(ren)?
DS personality continues to amaze me. He's so much like DH.

    Any concerns/frustrations with current child(ren)?
Niece is working on my last nerve. Her attitude and my hormones are not making for a happy household lately. It's especially irritating that she's pushing buttons intentionally.
  • How are things going with this pregnancy?
I feel like this hit me hard and fast, dh hasn’t worked a full week since we found out and having him home extra has been a lifesaver.

    Any concerns currently?
how the heck am i gonna survive when dh does work his full hours?!

Positive/exciting things going on with current child(ren)?
Dd has been talking about a baby sibling like she knows, we haven’t told her, and down play it “maybe someday”. But, I swear she knows, and she has been ssooo good for me. Even though I’m constsntly tired and queasy.

    Any concerns/frustrations with current child(ren)?

  • How are things going with this pregnancy?

So far so good. Still tired and had my first little bit of nausea this morning.

    Any concerns currently?

ive decided to stay away from google to help keep me from seeing all the things that would cause me to be concerned. Just eager for my MFM appointment on Monday.

Positive/exciting things going on with current child(ren)?

My son turns two this month! We have a wedding in Florida (opposite side of country) right after his birthday and I have a bachelorette party in Nevada next week. This month is pretty busy that I’ve done no birthday planning. Hopefully we can come up with something fun for him in time. He’s gaining tons of language and I love his cuddles.

    Any concerns/frustrations with current child(ren)?

He hit a kid at daycare yesterday... that’s fun. He’s also now into scooting chairs to the kitchen to stand on them and gain access to things he’s not supposed to.

  • How are things going with this pregnancy?

So far just battling all day sickness, but it is 100 times better than last time, so I feel bad complaining. I have my first appointment next week and really hope I will get to hear the heartbeat!

    Any concerns currently?

I counted myself out this cycle and ran out of my prenatals. I went about a week or two without and then have forgotten a few times since I got my BFP. So now I’ll be paranoid about that until I am far enough to have the NT scan.

Positive/exciting things going on with current child?

DS is 3.5 and he is super excited to have a brother or sister. It has been so fun to see!

    Any concerns/frustrations with current child?

I feel like my patience is at an all time low and I haven’t been as involved due to sickness and fatigue. I feel bad, but he seems to be handling it ok. The guilt just stinks.

@spottedginger We are moving too! So I feel your pain. We were planning on moving last fall, but it didn’t work out. We want to get the house up on the market by March, but this exhaustion and nausea makes the prep work seem impossible. Although moving in 3rd tri seems just as daunting. I am hoping to get everything done in the 2nd tri.
  • How are things going with this pregnancy?
10+3. As Kong as I eat I’m not too nauseous, but once noon-2 o’clock rolls around I need a nap.

    Any concerns currently?
    not pregnancy wise.

Positive/exciting things going on with current child(ren)?
Oldest (6) is doing amazing with her cheer team. I’m excited that she doesn’t freeze up on stage with hundreds of people watching them.
Youngest (20.5 mo) she talks a lot more and she’s has such a fun personality. She’s definitely going to be a handful growing up.

    Any concerns/frustrations with current child(ren)?
Oldest keeps swollen tonsils and I’m afraid that she is going to possibly need a tonsillectomy. I really want to avoid that at this age because she refuses to take any type of medication and screams because we opt for shots when she needs abc.
Youngest has a lip and tongue tie. We haven’t done revisions because I’m terrified that it may be unnecessary, but I know I will feel terrible if she has speech problems. I need to look into taking her to the pediatric speech therapist to be evaluated.

@megnwingate I'd definitely look at both of those situations with a pros/cons perspective. Although your oldest won't take medication so it would be rough post op, she would have so many less infections, that kind of thing. I think speech therapists are miracle workers, but I don't know how difficult it is to overcome the problems from an unrevised lip/tongue tie. I'm sure these are already things you're thinking about, but sometimes you need a little extra support to make the harder choice! Good luck with this, I'm sure it's not easy one way or another.
  • @megnwingate I got my tonsils out when I was in kindergarten and to me it was no big deal (if a kids perspective is helpful?)

I'm 9+1 and have been at a work training all week and it's exhausting. Bonus is that I can hide in my hotel room at night and I got 10 hours of sleep last night. Poor DH is sick though so I feel bad he is on his own at home.

We went to our niece's birthday party last weekend and DD learned the hard lesson that only the birthday girl gets presents. Her sad face was pretty pitiful. We will have one more niece birthday party before DD turns two, hopefully DD won't be so sad next time.
  • How are things going with this pregnancy?
things are WAY different this pregnancy. I’m super nauseas all the time and feel extremely bloated already.

    Any concerns currently?
not currently. Everything looked good at my ultrasound last week

Positive/exciting things going on with current child(ren)?
We are starting to plan DS 3rd birthday party. He can’t decide between team umizoomi or rusty rivets. But he is very excited

    Any concerns/frustrations with current child(ren)?
im getting a little frustrated in the not listening. I feel like we have to tell him a million times to do 1 thing and SO has zero patience so he’s been getting a lot of time outs which is very hard for me
  • For you ladies who are moving, my hats off to you, and may you have all the coffee and patience necessary to complete that!

Also @EErin86 tonsil twin! I had mine out in kindergarten too and it wasn't a big deal. @megnwingate it may be rough post op, but I haven't had strep once since getting them out, so you hopefully wouldn't have to fight with her again to take meds for strep. I'm sorry you're dealing with that tho, it doesn't sound pleasant.
  • How are things going with this pregnancy? Pretty good. Seven weeks today, no nausea, very sleepy and love food.

Any concerns currently? Been spotting everyday but Dr. Says it's okay.

Positive/exciting things going on with current child(ren)? DS is excited to be a big brother!

Any concerns/frustrations with current child(ren)? Lately DS likes to yell at me. It gets on my nerves especially when I'm just trying to hug him and love on him lol. He's also fully potty trained but has been peeing in the bed at night. Ugh
  • We prepped our house for sale when I was pregnant last time, then put it on the market and sold it when the baby was about 6 weeks old. It’s doable! The hard part was finding the new house in the crazy sellers market around here...we ended up being “homeless” (stayed in hotels and with family) for 11 days between closings, and moved in right before the baby turned 4 months. So happy not to deal with any of that this time! Good luck ladies!
  • @pourmeamocktail, hope that they can get a speech therapist sorted out for your son soon!  EI was great for our boys.  Also hugs.  Communication delays can be so difficult on both ends.

How are things going with this pregnancy?
So far so good.  Having nausea and heartburn on a pretty regular basis.  I'm hoping that with the first trimester winding down, an end to the nausea at least is in sight.

    Any concerns currently?
    None at the moment

Positive/exciting things going on with current child(ren)?

It looks like our youngest is finally over the virus/flu that he has been going through over the last few days.  Knock on wood, but I'm pretty sure that our oldest two avoided it.

DS1 and DS2 are so sweet and cute when they play together.  I'm really hoping that all of our kids play that well together as they get older.

    Any concerns/frustrations with current child(ren)?
Nothing really noteworthy at the moment.

How are things going with this pregnancy?
I thought I was going to dodge the morning sickness bullet. Nope. It's ramped up pretty good in the past week

    Any concerns currently?
Over all, I'll feel better once I have my first appointment on the 13th.

I am rather concerned about the MS though. I had it all the way through with my daughter. I was literally nauseous between pushes, lol. And my first pregnancy only went 19 weeks but I was sick the whole time as well. I just want a bit of relief this go around.

Positive/exciting things going on with current child(ren)?
My small town community doesn't have a pre-K program. The school is K-8, has 22 students and 2 teachers and despite trying year after year, they have been unable to get funding for a pre-K class. But the exciting thing is that an online school has decided to pilot their online pre-K class in my area. I'm so excited to start this with my daughter. Orei

    Any concerns/frustrations with current child(ren)?
My 3 year old daughter has hit a new level of drama queen diva that I have never before experienced. Today, she was in time out for hitting the dog. No big deal really, since she rarely gets time out. But she had a bad night last night and was over tired.

So she was sobbing on her step. And started wailing "Ember has an owey". She talks in 3rd person when she's cranky. And she did not have an owey so I ignored her. She then flipped the switch to shuttering sobs "Ember's crying Momma". She still had two minutes to I let her carry on. When that didn't work she cries "Ember's dying, Momma." Still no reaction from me. So, I kid you not, she fake chokes, flops down flat on the step and sobs "Ember's dead Momma." Wth? Lol.

    Pregnancy Ticker
  • How are things going with this pregnancy? Ok, I’m 11w tomorrow and still super exhausted but I am sure that is also largely due to having a toddler and working 6 days a week. I feel worse in the afternoons and evenings (cramps and nausea) and today nothing I eat makes me feel better.

Any concerns currently? Nope, this pregnancy is WAY different in that last time I had a lot of anxiety and this time I am too busy. My loss anniversary is next week on the same day as my NT scan so I think a good scan first thing in the morning will set the mood for the day. I do have to take glucose test #1 this weekend (since DD was a big baby) and I haven’t been drinking enough water or exercising so I hope I pass!

Positive/exciting things going on with current child(ren)? DD really surprised me with how she acted when meeting her baby cousin and I am sooo happy. She was so sweet and gentle with him and I think she will be a great big sister. Also she is walking so much more in the last few days and last night even chased the cat around the house.

Any concerns/frustrations with current child(ren)? We cut the cord on bottles this week and today she was just so fussy, refusing to nap or nurse even though I knew she was tired. Last night she refused milk, screamed when we put her to bed, and only stopped when I took her back out to nurse. Sigh. My OB wants me to wean in the next few weeks so I am not looking forward to that.
  • How are things going with this pregnancy? So far good and queasy. Boobs hurt and So. Very. Tired.
Any concerns currently? Not yet. Guess I will have to wait for my appt.
Positive/exciting things going on with current child(ren)? Haven't told DD yet but I think she will be excited.
Any concerns/frustrations with current child(ren)? The fact that she is a bit wild lol. She just loves life and hits the ground running every day so not really a concern for her but for me to keep up while growing #2.

  • @spottedginger we are putting our house on the market in spring and I am already dreading moving and setting up again. DH doesn't seem concerned with moving in August while I want to have everything either moved or take our house off market by July.

How are things going with this pregnancy?
    Not bad, tired
    Any concerns currently?
    Nope
Positive/exciting things going on with current child(ren)?
    Not currently this week
    Any concerns/frustrations with current child(ren)?
Ds is starting to throw fits when he doesn't get what he wants. Arches the back, screams, hits he seems to have them more often when hes tired so I think that is part of it. Hopefully its just a temporary thing

  • How are things going with this pregnancy?
Good!! Finally had our ultrasound yesterday, baby measured at 8 weeks exactly and 173BPM. It finally feels real.
    Any concerns currently?
Just with taking care of my toddler while battling nausea. Also, I had very low blood pressure yesterday. I don't think I'm eating enough.
Positive/exciting things going on with current child(ren)?
Nothing major, but I bought a giant bubble wand to do some bubbles with him outside this afternoon and I think he's going to love it :-)
    Any concerns/frustrations with current child(ren)?
Nope, he's a joy right now.

  • So far this pregnancy is going alright. Healthy baby as of our ultrasound last Friday, so I’m 9 weeks today. So much nausea and food aversions. Basically I can eat super salty foods (ie chips) and strawberries. At least it’s kind of balanced right?

DD is fun, she LOVES Paw Patrol so we play that everyday. I’ve been super tired this time around so she’s been getting to watch more tv than usual, which I don’t think she minds.

My main concerns are getting good nutrition and having energy to move my body. I’ve been really active and would hate to loose that part of my life for this entire pregnancy; hoping that I’ll have more energy soon.

@spottedginger we’re thinking of moving DD into a big bed soon! Trying to decide the best way to introduce the idea. She only recently started staying in her own bed all night (at 2 years old!) and I don’t want to rock the boat.....
  • How are things going with this pregnancy?
MS is still brutal. I am finding it hard to balance parenting, work and everything else without feeling like total crap.

    Any concerns currently?
I am scared MS will extend past the first trimester.

Positive/exciting things going on with current child(ren)?
DS is a sponge. He is learning so much lately. He doesn't have many words but he is sure trying and he is signing really well.

    Any concerns/frustrations with current child(ten)?
DS is just one so he is SUPER curious and wild. He is getting into everything and I honestly feel like I am constantly getting upset with him and he is just being a kid. I can tell he is starting to be kind of scared of me, not in a serious way but in a way that hurts me enough as a mother. I want to be loving before everything else but my patience is so fried lately. Then DH can come and be the fun parent because he isn't burned out from being around him all day. It tough lately. Luckily DS is so adorable that he melts my heart everytime he gives me kisses or sits and cuddles me.

  • @patience7150 Awe! Ear infections are the worst. They were our constant companions before we got tubes for our DD as well. She had her first set a year ago and they were replaced in July when she was 18 months old. It was a total fiasco between the two sets of tubes that I will spare you from -- but feel free to reach out to me if you want the details!

How are things going with this pregnancy?

Not terrible! MS kills me.... but Diclegis takes the edge off and I have been able to get by. I'm trying to be optimistic that I won't be nauseous the entire pregnancy this time but only time will tell.

    Any concerns currently?

    Not specifically.

Positive/exciting things going on with current child(ren)?

DD loves her two day a week preschool class so much. It's such a relief because she used to have a really hard time separating from us. I'm so glad she's able to go, be a good listener to other adults, and have a good time with friends. I can't believe how big she's getting. It sure does go fast.

    Any concerns/frustrations with current child(ren)?

Not specifically. We just bought a new, bigger house and that transition has been surprisingly easy on DD. She is testing me some -- almost as if she KNOWS I'm more tired etc. than I used to be. Toddlers!
  • How are things going with this pregnancy? Today's a tough day but everything seems to be ticking along fine -  10 weeks Sunday.
Any concerns currently?  I have a cold.  That's annoying.
Positive/exciting things going on with current child(ren)? My youngest is learning to copy sounds and things that could be/turn into words.
Any concerns/frustrations with current child(ren)?  My oldest keeps yelling and my middle can avoid and dawdle like it's a sport but tis life.

I feel like crap 90% of the time. Not fully nauseous, no serious food aversions, but I just feel so crummy. I’m trying to just work through it and go to my excercise classes and do all my normal stuff, but it wears me out.
    Any concerns currently?
Not really. Anxiously awaiting NIPT results this week. I think I’ll be able to start really feeling excited once I have those in hand.

He’s so cute right now. He’s going through a snuggly hugging phase and I am soaking it all up.

Still not much in the way of words yet. His 15mo appointment is in a week and a half and I don’t think we’re going to hit his pediatrician’s goal of 3 solid words by that time. He understands a ton, so i’m not worried too much at this point, it’s still early!
