3rd Trimester

Kicks? Flutters? Punches?

Hi all! I’m currently 30 weeks and dr confirmed through ultrasound Baby was still head up (we thought he was down). I know it’s still early and he has time to flip, but this has been a fear of mine. I’ve been trying to pay attention to movements and locating the head of bottom, but I’m not having much luck. I can’t really feel his head or bottom distinctly unless he’s really sticking it out, but the right side of my stomach feels hard, almost like a half moon shape. I’m all over the place with movements. I usually feel flutters really low, like towards the top of my cervix? And I feel tapping towards the top of my ribs. I honestly cannot even venture a guess as to what is where. Anyone else has similar experiences?

Harder kicks are generally the feet. I felt softer movements all over. I couldn't tell what was what. Smaller stuff and hard pokes that I could feel with my hand from the outside could be either elbows, hands or feet. I wouldn't worry about it until it gets closer. Then, ask your doctor about having an ECV if the baby doesn't turn.

  • Honestly at this point it's too early to worry about it.  Give it 2 more weeks and then start thinking about it.  Give yourself a break.  There's so much to be anxious about - try to only pick the ones that are necessary.  Something like 95% of babies are head down when labor rolls around.  Try to be patient.
