@muggle621 I feel exactly the same as you... fed is best. So just support mom and baby however they need your support, be it for breastfeeding or formula feeding.
Plus I go back and forth on how I want to feed my baby this time... I had problems last time with breastfeeding, my supply dropping and PPA
Hospitals giving moms a hard time for how they choose to feed their babies doesn’t sit well with me either. That’s not baby friendly. FEEDING your baby is baby friendly. However that happens.
@muggle621 Sounds like you've already talked to your OB about this but it wouldn't hurt to ask them how they can support you despite the hosp policy. Maybe talk about early release if every goes well. Do you have to bring your own formula? Hopefully you get good nurses who understand policy is a good start but doesn't dictate what's best for everyone!

This is actually a really good idea. I wonder if your physician can write a nursing communication to not harrass about nursing/breastfeeding, D/C order for lactation consultant, etc? I know that where I work physicians have an option to write an order/communication with things they want and those are actually printed out on our order sheets and then passes on through report.
@fatstagnation@DDRRT1982 You know I have not told my OB I'm not bf-ing ....it never even occurred to me for some reason tbh. I told the pediatrician we met with and he told me they are "nazis" about bf-ing so I think I will take your advice and bring it up Wednesday at my next appointment. Thankfully they do provide formula and bottles but they do pressure you into at least trying bf-ing. I had no idea I could even ask my doctor to do something like that. Even if he doesn't it's worth asking, birth is stressful enough without these people jumping down your throat!! Thank y'all for the suggestion!

@muggle621 I put formula samples in my bag just in case. They should supply it but I remember feeling very pressured with my other 2 which were born in different hospitals. I just remember feeling like if I couldn’t or didn’t BF that I was a bad mom. DS lost a pound before we went back to the doctor and they almost put him back in the hospital. Luckily my mom was there and talked too me about how as long as he was getting fed that’s what mattered. I have inverted nipples, don’t produce enough, and DD had a tongue tie. I already put in my birth plan I will try but if it doesn’t work I want to formula feed. My OB looked at it and said she was happy I wasn’t going to stress myself out over it.
I swear this day is going to take forever. My kids both had a snow day and won’t stop fighting over what to watch. Everyone may be taking a nap this afternoon.
I feel like the latest random knottie post about baby showers is a researcher or marketer or something. Maybe she isn't but the wording of her questions seem odd to me.

Look my attention span at this point in my pregnancy does not lend itself to your whole life story and your wedding
^^ lol, this. I couldn't bring myself to read more than the first 3 sentences. If it were a regular who made a long post I would have read the whole thing, but I don't have the time or energy for newbs with long stories. Sorry!
I was FaceTiming with my sister last night and my one year old niece was giving me kisses on the phone and saying "baby!" then she stole the phone from my sister, took off running and tried to throw their phone in the toilet! All I could see from my end was this tiny girl running wildly through the house, her little front teeth showing as she was giggling the whole way! And I heard my sister yell, NOOO!!! she stopped her before she could actually throw it in but you guys, from my end of the phone that was the funniest thing I've seen ever.
Probably tmi but I just thought I would share because it's kinda funny. I've started noticing a lot more lately that baby gets super active after I poop. It's like he's saying, thanks for making room for me to play!
So my random is that we had to do biometric measurements for our insurance today. (I'm insured through DH work. Last year they announced rate hikes unless the employee did the biometrics. This year both of us were required. It's a dif of $800 per year, so we did it.) We had to fill out a questionnaire online. It asked me to check my current health conditions, and the only thing I marked was pg. So they take my height and weight. Then they prick my finger for a blood sample and take my BP. No body has acknowledged that I'm obviously pg, and apparently that detail didn't make it to the form. Mind you, I'm crabby AF because we had to fast.I really wanted to be a jerk and just let them plow ahead and tell me how "obese" I am, but the nurse I got was really nice. So finally I ask "Do you have any kids?" She replies and asks "how about you?" and I just rubbed my belly and said "Just this one."
I mean I know in normal situations you shouldn't ask women with bellies if they're pregnant, but come on!
@nancysimp that is so odd. I had my GBS swab done last week and my OB did it.. He did it with my last pregnancy as well.
My random for the day is that I call my mom a lot. Especially when I'm pregnant. Idk why. I just get really clingy with my mom lol so every time I call her now instead of "hello" as a greeting she says "are you in labor yet??" I just have to laugh at her. 2 weeks left and I think literally everyone in the family is impatiently waiting. Kind of sad that my FIL will probably be in Iraq when it happens though.
I had my 34 week appt yesterday and told OB how i have been having menstrual-like cramps. She checked me and about 1 1/2 cm dilated. I know this means absolutely nothing, but it got me all excited haha
Ok so I'm hearing both sides re GBS swab done by OB or yourself....called up a couple of friends too and 1 did it herself, the other her OB did it. I just didn't expect that. How in the world do i know if I "got enough" lol. I'm really in awe over this. Guess I will wait for results.
So strange.. never heard of GBS swabbing yourself lol! ONE DAY until induction for me!!! Current status is freaking out!!! @hollyk224 did you have your little one?!
Let me tell you...in the clinic's washroom wondering how the heck do I know if I managed 2 cms in the front hole and 1 cm in the back hole??? Honestly. So perturbed.
I'm so not ready for my GBS swabbing. I don't want anyone or anything down there right now... had sex last week and was like, ok, that was the last time... so uncomfortable.
So anyone else almost fail a NST because the baby was too active? Because that just happened to me... one of the babies was fine but the other wouldn’t stop moving and it took like an hour and 45 minutes for them to get enough lower heart rate readings for him to serve as a baseline and send me home.

A CENTIMETER in the back? Pardon the pun but holy crap.
I've heard of this being offered to quite a few people. Which is nice but like you said, I don't know how you're supposed to know if you did it right, and I do want it done right, and then it feels weird if you decline the opportunity and ask them to do it. So instead of it being "We're going to do this swab. Yes, it sucks. We do it all the time. Just sit back, relax, and buy yourself a prize after." it's "Hey, could you swab me? I'll just sit back and relax. Aww yeah." I think my OB plans to do a cervical check so I think her theory is that we might as well just take care of everything at once.
@crossfitbabybump That story is precisely why I think Otterboxes are perfect gifts for first birthdays!
I'm not sure if everyone has seen "Does This Baby Make Me Look Fat?" on YouTube yet but I remember it being pretty funny. It's been a long time since I watched it but I enjoyed it. (The only thing I hate is that she's one of the magic unicorns who was about to do IVF and got a surprise BFP which just feeds into idiots saying "just relax" and "Are you sure you want to do X treatment? I know one lady who..." but it's still funny and girl can't help it.) https://www.youtube.com/user/msstephjacksontv
