So I got my update this morning. Out of 25, 13 were mature and 10 fertilized with ICSI!
I'll get another update in 2 days. Hoping that number stays up!!

@50Wife Yup the waiting was painfully long to me because they didn’t  call till day 5 for us ..and then waiting for PGS testing, i think you guys said you were doing PGS  right?  ... so much waiting! 

@Aurora1973 sorry you’re having a tough time and you’re sad. I watched this documentary yesterday called “ One More Shot” it follows a couple who is dealing with infertility. It really opened my eyes on how many ways to make a family whether it’s natural, IVF, donor egg, embryo adoption, etc. so many ways !! It’s on Netflix

@shortstack930 They’ll probably start having you come in every day after that, at least they did for me leading up to the ER. They also thought I’d be triggering a day earlier than I did But the doc wanted to give them one more day to grow.

@Aurora1973 , wow, that is so much to take in. I'm super pumped for this IUI and I am SO hopeful that this is it. I can't imagine the stress of having to count the tubes and know exactly how many shots you have left. That's terrifying.

Not good news, guys. My estrogen is super, super high. Not sure where that came from... it just all of a sudden shot up. So fresh transfer is off the table completely. Which freaking sucks because I am missing so much work, and so is H. And I can't afford to change my  flights again. 
We also are at risk of losing all the eggs I have to either early ovulation, disintegration, or bad quality by the time we get to ER. She didn't explain much, and I didn't ask, I was just shocked. So I am going back in the early morning to double check the numbers, but it's not looking hot at all.

@KristoKekerooni shit. I'm sorry! What are your levels?? What day of stims are you again? Mine were really high apparently. I was at 7,000 the day before my retrieval. And 5,000 the day I triggered. I was told a few times they were high but I don't know how high that actually is. 
Let us know what they say tomorrow

I'm so sorry, @KristoKekerooni. After everything you've been through with waiting for AF and all these travel plans, that's disheartening. I hope they will be able to salvage your eggs or come up with some sort of plan, even if a fresh transfer is off the table.

@KristoKekerooni My estrogen was also super high the day before the retrieval somewhere around 7000  they explained to me I was high risk for OHSS, and apparently it’s super painful and uncomfortable not something you want to chance especially with a fresh transfer. Why you’re at risk of losing all the eggs I’m curious to hear, is it Bc of the estrogen? Or another factor? Try to keep that head up doll! Please keep us updated and if you need to vent we’re all here to listen. I’m so sorry things aren’t going as planned.

Apparently the test only goes up to 7500 for estrogen. my results were >7500. That's all I know. Ugh. I'm checking out today, but I'll let ya'll know what they say tomorrow. At this point, I just really want a chance.

Hi all! I'm new to the board as I'm kind of on this whole journey by myself and I figured being in contact with others in similar circumstances is necessary. It's been awhile since I've been active on TB so bare with me while I get reacquainted, I'm happy to be here! 


Diagnosis (if you've been): secondary IF due to PCOS, low progesterone and low estrogen 

Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): WTO

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): started Letrozole last night on CD3, tic/IUI  

How are things going?: so far so good, super anxious about this journey as this is our first medicated cycle, aiming for IUI and tic if timing works out in our favor (dh is ad military and is serving overseas for the next 2 years, he comes home to visit and of next week)

Any questions?: 

GTKY: what was your favorite place that you’ve vacationed? DH and I went on our honeymoon to Gatlinburg, TN. We rented a cabin and it was so beautiful in the smokey mountains. Can't wait to go back again someday.

Welcome @ncm0328! So sorry you find yourself here. I imagine that timing fertility treatment will be tough with your husband overseas! 

Just as a side note. Most of the ladies here are trying really, really hard for their first. I think most of us prefer if pregnancy or kiddos are mentioned only if totally necessary to the conversation and are typically put into a spoiler for those who would rather skip it. I understand that secondary infertility is its own sort of awful, but complaining about morning sickness on an infertility thread is not super cool.

@ndz2018 we will be freezing while he's home next week. If timing works out, we will do an IUI while he's here as well, but that's tbd. Hoping to get enough frozen to give us a few attempts while he's away.

We never got a chance to do medicated cycles or IUI it was straight to IVF for us so IUIs kinda fascinate me lol.  I hope he can freeze enough so when he’s away you can still try. How many times does he get to come Home in those two years? Hopefully you guys can time it perfectly!

I know the fresh transfer was very important to you to do all this & have a chance right now (and that is a gross understatement).  Go be sad, eat your chocolate, feel all the feels, lean on your husband, and know that we are all rooting for you so very, very hard.

@KristoKekerooni I’m so sorry, friend. I hope everything still works out with the ER. Did they tell you when they estimate doing it? And it sucks about not being able to do the fresh transfer but if your estrogen is that high then you definitely don’t want to risk it. I had a friend that had OHSS and ended up in the hospital in kidney failure. I really hope you’re able to work everything out for ER.

Blood work hasn’t come back yet. But my follicles got bigger so they might be okay quality. We will see. Double lupron  Trigger tonight at midnight and tomorrow at noon. ER Saturday morning.

@KristoKekerooni big, big hugs lady. I know this is not the kind of news anyone wants. I hope they can come up with a plan that works best for you and gives you the best chance. Thinking of you. 
@elothair I loved Edinburgh. We were there for a weekend, but our first day we just wandered around the city and it was really lovely. 
@emmasemm any progress on finding a new clinic? Were you able to get in any of those skype interviews?
@Augusta108 we met a couple while in New Zealand that were there just to do Hobbit related stuff. Glad the carrier screenings weren't a match.
@purplg8r I hope you have the best trip! 
@Aurora1973 glad to hear that the RE isn't concerned about the fibroids. Not that you asked, but I think I would go with 2 this cycle and "save" the other for a medicated cycle with the RE. I understand what you're saying about the sense of relief that comes with putting some control in the hands of the RE/medical staff. When you have a team of people working on this for you it takes some of the pressure off and, for me anyway, has helped me to feel less alone in all of this. 
@shortstack930 the ER is so close. FX for another good scan tomorrow. 
@jrm_14 FX for you too tomorrow. 
@beachbunnyxo123 thinking of you. Hope today is better than yesterday and that each day gets a bit easier.

@Avrilmai ETA: TLDR version; Yes! I finally got signed into it and set up.  Everything is somewhat in order/figured out for now finally
Long version: I thankfully got a hold of my doc yesterday after yet another call.  Me thinks Sharon the receptionist dropped the ball (or someone did) cause Wendy the receptionist that I spoke with yesterday had ZERO clue what was going on.  So I had to re-explain everything and she eventually, after a bit of insistence on my part, resent my original message stating that I want to pursue testing -> treatment, not just wait and see.  I almost immediately (within 5 minutes) got a call back from my doc finally.  HOORAY!  Anywho, I'm now on Provera for 14 days (currently on CD59 w/ no ovulation and AF nowhere in sight) and will be getting a letter in the mail today or tomorrow with further instructions/who/when to contact set up testing.  Also, I finally got the invite to their online system so I can review my results/schedule appointments easier/email regarding questions.  My doc said, "dear lord, YES!  Email me, especially with IF testing/treatment it'll be so much easier to communicate and make sure this doesn't happen again."  So... YAY!!!!

Hey IVFers anyone going for acupuncture ? I Have two appointments tomorrow.
First is my post op to see if I’m healing after  surgery and hopefully everything looks good! Second is for acupuncture, not associated with my clinic. Just wondering if it actually will help. I have about 7 weeks till my FET and want to give myself the best chance to have our little star seed To stick! All input is welcome!

@ndz2018 Yes! I do acupuncture and I love it. There's quite a bit of research that shows that acupuncture can help with IF patients, especially for FETs. I am getting it done right before/after the FET next week and I go on a weekly basis.

It really depends on how your doctor does your cycles, @ndz2018. I took almost a full pack of BCP after AF started in preparation for the FET. But once I started on Lupron, it's just under a month to my FET date.

@avrilmai thanks for asking. We had the consult this evening. Two hours. He was absolutely thorough, suggested a few things on my list and wasn’t afraid to say no to me on a few things too, but clearly explaining his rationale. Emotionally I would have signed on the dotted line tonight. Luckily the logical part of my brain is making me sleep on it - and DH is making me sleep on it too! I need to talk to my PCP in the morning to get some more BW and to get a referral to a haematologist, so I guess I’m also happy I have something to “do” in the meantime.

@lurvleybunchococonuts   Me thinks Sharon dropped the ball too lol. This week I’ve mostly been talking to Sarah and Hannah. Sarah was very helpful and efficient. Hannah didn’t know how to request a new contact on Skype... and I had forgotten that UK consultants are like gods... gods that can’t dial telephones or type in new Skype contacts themselves hehehehehe. Welcome, @memommy86. I know there are many here who have been on Letrozole before. Usually an RE will recommend trying for 12 months on your own if you are under 35. (They might be willing to step in sooner if the diagnosis of PCOS is there, but every RE is a bit different.) Has your partner gotten a sperm analysis yet? I would highly recommend that if you haven't, as many docs are so focused on female fertility issues that it takes forever to discover if there are any MFIs at play. If you do need some sort of ART, generally they'll recommend moving to IUIs for several cycles before IVF.

@emmasemm bahaha... skype is quite "complicated".  Sigh... hopefully you geat to deal with Sarah moving forward.  Is it rude to specifically ask "please let me talk to your counterpart, she's far more competent at her job?" next time I'm forced to talk to the receptionist? Sharon was much nicer, but seems like a ball dropper.  Wendy was a little snooty, but competent and got the job done.  Why can't they morph into one "Shand-y" or "Wend-ron" receptionist and then I can have the best of both worlds?
