I scheduled my 3 hr gtt for this morning and get there and was told i needed to fast. Maybe i should have known this (no. I am not a medical professional and I've never had to take the 3 hr before) but my doctor didn't mention it. I know this bc i would've at least let out an audible sigh when she told me. Anyway they turned me away. So my fffc is i refuse to take the test now. My doctor had no respect for my time so now I'd rather burn hers with a series of in depth questions about my 1 hr results since they didn't share them w me.
Yes I'm being stubborn and yes i also have a wicked temper but i am totally burned up by this. My insurance requires we do these tests at the hospital which only does it mon-sat. I just started a new job so i have no vaca time to burn on this and I'm booked solid the next several saturdays. She may put me on a restrictive diet for it but i don't care. I've been eating way healthier since i failed my 1 hr anyway.
@beach_mama - ask your Dr. If there's an alternative to the 3hr. I can't take 3 hours off either with my new job, so they are now pricking my finger to test at each appt. I have to fast 3 hours before, but that's more manageable. My first appt is Tuesday, so we'll see how it goes.
@knuttyplus2 thanks for the tip - i will ask for sure!! I'm not nearly as angry today as i was yesterday but I'm still incredibly irritated over the whole thing.
Few days late, but it's days like today that I wonder what's wrong with our society/ school system/ government. I teach 7th grade math and I had multiple students who could not do 100/2! It baffles me that students get passed 3rd grade without this simple concept down. I feel by not holding them back a grade or not doing early intervention we are failing our students.
@beach_mama Hope the alternative works for you. I passed the finger prick, but I noticed they took my urine to be tested too. I should have asked for what, but didn't.
@knuttyplus2 he said i would have to do the finger prick daily to test as if i were diabetic. I doubt my insurance would cover it since i haven't officially been diagnosed. So i suppose I have to try the 3 hr again.
Re: FFFC 1/26
AFM - I'm on an ugly sugar bender today. Still surprised I passed 1 hour glucose test
