Monday Ticker Change - 1/22

How many weeks are you/baby's size?
30! Baby is the size of a cabbage.

How do you feel?

Pretty darn good! Definitely uncomfortable by the end of the day (I waddle more than I walk), but I've still got some energy to get stuff done.

Any appts this week?
30 week office visit on Wednesday. Honestly I'm more excited about my hair appt later that day ;)

Rants/raves/questions?
Nada.

GTKY: are you a sports fan? Where do your loyalties lie?
I'm a huge sports fan raised by parents who grew up in the city of Boston, so I'm a homer through and through! Baseball and football, especially, are in my blood, though I won't turn down tickets to a Bruins or Celtics game. I'll admit I'm 100% an obnoxious Boston fan :D

  • @dan0081 I love my Instant Pot. I plan on doing some freezer meals for it early April. I am also going to a 2 hour class to prep 10 meals and always do freezer breakfast burritos. Those some in handy especially breastfeeding. One handed foods for the win. I have never done Blue Apron, but would always suggest the instant pot.
  • @irenejean I know. Knowing there is no right answer makes it harder for me. We have talked to both my doc and the pediatrician along with researching it. It will be fine either way, but that is a big decision for a parent. Ugh. Yay for girls
  • @scuba_chic Yay for the third trimester!

@thisgirlagain I hope your glucose test goes well on Wednesday. I think @Dumbgurl04 had good advice that you just have to do what you think is best for your son, and others shouldn't have a strong say. It is a challenging decision though!

@irenejean Thank you for offering the Blue Apron coupons. I'll certainly let you know if we decide to go ahead with it because that'd be really helpful. So glad you and @thisgirlagain like the Instant Pot. My parents got one for Christmas, and they are always sending me pictures of what they've made, and it always looks amazing!

@mispanda Hope you start getting better sleep soon, too! I may talk with my OB at my next appt to see if she has any suggestions so I can report back to you.
  • @keeksie84 I have read about it but honestly I got lost on it.  I might have been multi tasking when reading, which is why I found it a bit confusing, but I figure I'll leave it up to the doctor to figure it out.
  • @g_amoss I haven't heard of Hello Fresh before. I looked at their website, and I honestly think that may be a better option for me than BA because I unfortunately have to avoid certain foods. That's exciting you will be scheduling your c-section this week! Do you know how many weeks they'll let you go until? Also.. I feel like the winter storm we got today was another slap in the face to Minnesota. :D Hope you missed some of this midwest snow where you are!
@keeksie84 I am all about the leftovers so that would be really nice with the Instant Pot, and I actually love grocery shopping so that would be one thing I'd miss with doing a meal service. Thankful for all this insight! Hope painting your nursery goes well this weekend.. You'll have to post pictures. :)
  • @dan0081 - I have a promo code for Hello Fresh if you want it.  I think we’re looking at 37-38 weeks, so 8-9 more to go! Holy shit! Not sure how much you got, my sweet little nephew in Northfield said they were supposed to get 16”. I’m guessing we only got around 4”, but now it’s sleeting on top of that. Eh, should melt by Thursday  :D

  • @g_amoss I'll let you know what we decide to do, but that would be very helpful. Thanks! Wow.. that is coming up soon.. how exciting and crazy at the same time.. they'll be here before you know it! We probably got 6-8 inches, but it's hard to tell with the drifts we got. I heard southern areas were supposed to get a lot more, but 16".. oh my! Our chicken coop door is completely covered so that'll be an interesting challenge tomorrow morning.  ;)
  • @priestess619 Ugh I know, I'm in Orange County and so sick of the warm weather. Isn't it supposed to be winter??

  • @kaymaroo I love love LOVE the warm still. Not a big winter girl but still kind of crazy that I can't even have a brisk morning walk haha
  • How many weeks are you/baby's size?
    28! Eggplant baby

    How do you feel?

Pretty bad. I just posted a separate thread but I’ve been MIA because I’ve spent a lot of time in the hospital this month + recovering. The latest was falling down a flight of stairs. It was one of the most terrifying moments of my life and I’m in an excruciating amount of pain. Ive been sleeping really poorly the last week and I think that’s part of why I fell.

    Any appts this week?
I was supposed to have a cardiologist appointment yesterday but then fell down a flight of stairs and ended up in the hospital instead. I’m on bedrest this week and then appointment with Obgyn early next week.

    Rants/raves/questions?
Any sleep suggestions? I see a lot of you are having the same issue. I know it’s pretty normal at this stage but it’s making it hard to function. I do remember having the same issue with insomnia with my son around this time but I don’t think I ever figured out anything to help? What about back pain? They said ice and Tylenol- no heat.

GTKY: are you a sports fan? Where do your loyalties lie?
I used to be more of a sports fan. Yankees and Miami Dolphins fan but I honestly haven’t watched much since DS was born.
  • @priestess619 Your post just convinced me to do a 4D ultrasound, so I just purchased a package from Groupon.  I didn't realize til last week that I wouldn't have any more ultrasounds :( and that kind of bummed me out.   As far as motivation, I'm not much help because it is a huge struggle for me to get out and do something.  The things that get me going though are knowing that it is supposed to make labor much easier and exercise is beneficial to the baby, not to mention, I'm very afraid of blowing up this last trimester lol.

@kaymaroo I'm going to be in Anaheim for work around mid-February and have booked a little maternity photo session while I'm there.  I'm a beach person and think beach + cliffs, would make for some good photos.  I have a photographer, but we were talking about potential spots to take pictures.  So far, we've decided Inspiration Point.  Do you have any other recommendations for good spots? I think she recently moved to the area and is a little unfamiliar with good spots herself.

I'm late this week! As a federal employee I was home yesterday instead of at work... #TrumpShutdown. I normally do my check-in during my morning coffee break but yesterday I was playing with my kiddos instead :D

How many weeks are you/baby's size?
28 weeks! And I don't know... my weekly notification didn't hit yesterday... hmmm

    How do you feel?
I feel good. No energy issues but damn if the whole RLP shit isn't getting me randomly!

    Any appts this week?
Glucose test and 28 week appt tomorrow!

    Rants/raves/questions?
    Yay facebook group! lol

GTKY: are you a sports fan? Where do your loyalties lie?
Nothing to add... lol. I'm a KC Chiefs and Royals fan... so life is sad :D

  • @dan0081 We just started Blue Apron in December and I kinda love it... It's not the most economical way of figuring out meals for post-baby, but it's SO NICE. With my first I paid for a meal planning service, RealPlans.com, about $6 a month and I loved that for helping keep me organized and try new meals! We also have an InstantPot... which we love lol.

@mispanda ugh... add me to the position of baby worry club. Solidarity sister.

@mountainsmama I'd love to hear more about your experience with a pelvic floor physical therapist. My friend recently told me she thoughts I should go see one. I have been planning on after birth but she said I might want to consider going while I'm still pregnant. Are you going to go back to yours while pregnant?

    @puddlewonderful I was furloughed! I'm curious now about where you work/what you do. We're clearly 'non-essential' :D

@kaymaroo I get winded super fast... so I don't know if that's what you're talking about? But like... walking up stairs or walking while holding my kids winds me ridiculously fast.

@priestess619 I don't find the motivation. /sigh. It's a problem! After the baby gets here I'll be better, FX!!

  • @julzy sorry to hear about your tough month and your fall! That sounds terrifying. I hope you are able to get some rest and relaxation. I'm with you on the insomnia - it's hard to get comfortable enough for sustained sleep. Some people have mentioned taking a unisom (or half a pill), have you tried that?
  • @scuba_chic kind of wish I already had a LO so I had a baseline to wish for easier recovery :D. Just needa get my butt in gear.

Also, have so much fun at that ultrasound I know it's such an unnecessary thing but such a cool thing as we wait in anticipation. We got one good face shot where it looks like she's throwing up the peace sign but we still get to go back:

  • @scuba_chic Inspiration Point is really beautiful! Great idea! I think Crystal Cove in Laguna Beach would also make for some fantastic photos. The Newport Pier is a great location too (I know my wedding photographer does a lot of family shoots there). IMO Santa Monica is the best location for photos BUT it's a 45-90 minute drive from Newport depending on traffic.

  • @ladythrice Yes I definitely get winded doing things like that--even just putting on my shoes or picking up toys around the living room. But the same exact thing also happens sometimes when I'm sitting down. That's the part that gets me worried.

    Awesome, thank you!

  • @keeksie84 I haven't posted there. I haven't actually been on here much since before Christmas and happened to have a bit of time yesterday. There is a company called Citrus Pear in Utah/Idaho that does classes every month. They do basically everything. No shopping or clean up for me.

@rmmorris It is a tough decision. I feel like talking to both doctors helped. I also read an article that says to make a decision and sit on it for 2 weeks. If you still feel the same after 2 weeks then you know which way to go. Hopefully you got some insight from your doc!
  • Totally missed this thread yesterday!

How many weeks are you/baby's size?
    28 weeks! Third Tri!!!

    How do you feel?

Mostly good. Still dealing with pelvic pain on and off but it's not severe. As I mentioned in the randoms thread I am also hungry alllll the time!  :p:p

    Any appts this week?
    Thursday is my Glucose test.

    Rants/raves/questions?
Starting the process of buying all the things we need off our registry and working on getting the nursery put together. I went to Michael's this past week and bought SO much random decor and I plan to do the same thing at Hobby Lobby and At Home within the next few weeks. Basically just going to buy everything I think it cute and then decide what to keep and use later lol My hardest decision right now is what to do about a rocker. I have been eyeing one at Babies R Us but it's $600 :s  I really want something that is plush and cozy and the one at BRU is a recliner! Just not sure if we really need to spend $600 on a chair right now.

GTKY: are you a sports fan? Where do your loyalties lie?
Yes and no.. I'm kind of a bandwagon sports fan in that I only really follow closely when my teams are doing well lol but I stay true to the teams that I do support. I went to Michigan for grad school so I always cheer them on in football as well as a smaller state school I went to for undergrad. I also continue to follow Michigan professional sports even though I live in Texas.... although none of the teams have been doing that well recently.

@priestess619 I worked at UM for a year! My husband and I lived in Southern FL from October 2015-October 2016.

@julzy I'm so sorry to hear about the crappy luck you have had recently! I really hope you start to feel better soon and FX that you don't have any more unwanted surprises.

@scuba_chic Do you live in Texas? Not sure how I missed that all these months or I just forgot!
  • @thisgirlagain yes! I feel so much better after talking to our pediatrician. I think the biggest thing for me was that he said if we decide not to do it in the hospital, we can always have it done later. I guess I didn’t realize that was even an option.
  • @ladythrice haha feels good doesn’t it? The best part was I was told I was essential and to plan to come in, and then after 3 hours they changed their minds and sent us all home. We got literally no guidance in preparation for the shutdown, it was like taboo to talk about!

@julzy I’m so sorry about your horrible month!! No additiona tips, but I had back pain in the fall and found this ice wrap thingy at the grocery store that has a strap so you can walk around wearing it. It could also be heated up for that type of injury. I really liked it!
  • @JJMNO1616 no way ! What did you do at UM? I was there 2010-2014. Loved my time there, but could never live there permanently !

I worked for the Department of Psychiatry through the health system. So I was on the medical campus for work. My husband and I hated living in SF which is why we now live in Texas lol. We actually lived in Fort Lauderdale so the drive was KILLER for me... typically 1.5hrs one way. I can totally understand why going to college in Miami would have been a great time but living there as a working adult was the worst. I do miss the ceviche SO BAD though.  :p
  • @JJMNO1616 awesome ! I have a ton of friends finishing up at Miller this year! I run into people affiliated with UM so much, always trips me out. I miss Cuban food and football games... :s:s. And that is a GNARLY commute. I lived so close I didn't have a car all four years haha
  • @JJMNO1616 Yes, the Austin area. :)
